Shingletown is a quiet town with a small food market, pizza store, and thrift/antique stores. You are also close to Redding (a 30-minute drive), where you have access to a larger city with more options for food, shopping, the Sacramento River, and Turtle Bay.brbrGuest Access:brThe entire log cabin and back deck area are completely private and reserved for guest use only. You will have full access to the cabin, including all indoor and outdoor amenities listed in the description.brbrPlease note that the rear portion of the property, including the barn, is for the owner’s private use. While you may occasionally see the owners in that back area, they do not share any part of the cabin or guest spaces and will fully respect your privacy. You can access our home any time with our secure, key less entry.brbrWelcome GuidebookbrA few days before your stay, you will receive an email that includes a link to our welcome guidebook. It contains all the house information you’ll need, as well as recommendations for dining, activities, and adventures.brbrParking & Snow RemovalbrThe house is located easily off of Meteorite Way, which is a quiet cul-de-sac. There are two parking spaces off the street located in front of the house under a carport. It is easy to get into the house, and the path is short. During a heavy snow season, it’s possible the driveway will not be plowed all the way to the house, but two cars can park in tandem, and a shoveled walkway will be made to access the front door. Guests are asked to park in the driveway and to stay off the street, especially when snow is expected to fall, to ensure our streets can be plowed. Residents/Guests are asked to stay informed about forecasts of snow accumulations and to plan accordingly.brbrThe Neighborhood:brThe Starlight Pines Community is right off Highway 44 and easy to get to from Shingletown. The community is very quiet, and you are located just around the corner from the volunteer fire department.brbrGetting Around:brIt is easiest to get around by car. There is no local transportation.brbrOther Things to Note:brWi-Fi & Cell ServicebrThis house is located in an area with limited cell and WiFi service. We do offer WiFi, but it is a slow download speed and upload speed, therefore it is recommended that guests use the WiFi for browsing activities only during their stay. With limited cell service, it is recommended that you drive 10 minutes back to Shingletown for important calls.brbrPetsbrWe’re happy to host your furry friends. We can accept up to two dogs or cats for a nominal $20 fee per stay. All pets must be house-trained. We ask that they not lounge on furniture without the protection of a towel or blanket. With regular sightings of bears on our property, it is recommended to keep animals on a leash, especially at night, to ensure you can move away from a bear and back into the house safely.brbrFireplace & FiresbrOutdoor: We have an outdoor fire pit and provide firewood. We allow open fires but ask that you use the hose to put the fire all the way out. Thoroughly douse the fire with large amounts of water and ensure it is no longer smoldering. In the summer months, fires may not be allowed due to the high wildfire risk. We will let you know if it is not allowed.brbrIndoor: The indoor wood fireplace is nice to use in the winter. We will provide some firewood next to the stove, and additional firewood is located on the front deck under the black tarp. Feel free to grab what you need during your stay. Make sure to leave the door closed while the fireplace is in use to prevent embers from coming out onto the carpet. A small fire will go a long way to heat the house. Remember, heat rises so the upstairs gets really hot really fast. We do provide heaters upstairs when needed, but with the design of the house and the fact that heat rises you rarely need it. There are windows upstairs to release hot air if needed.brbrBBQbrWe have a large BBQ for your use and we hope you can make some delicious meals during your stay. We ask that you turn off the grill and then turn the propane gas tank all the way off. Once the grill is cooled, then cover it back up with the outdoor cover.brbrTrash DaybrAs our trash day is on Tuesdays and bins will be left at the end of the driveway.brbrGuest LimitbrThe home can accommodate up to seven guests total. To minimize wear and tear on our home, unregistered guests are not allowed.brbrQuiet HoursbrThank you for observing our quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. This ensures the peace of the owners, neighborhood, and our standing as courteous neighbors.brbrSmokingbrTo keep our home fresh and clean for everyone, smoking is not permitted inside. If smoke is detected, a $300 fee will be applied to your reservation. You can, however, smoke in the backyard/front yard or on the back deck (please close the doors and windows).brbrSecurity CamerasbrFor the safety and security of our guests and property, security cameras are installed on the exterior of the home, including the front yard, both side yards, and the back of the property. These cameras are active and record both video and audio. There are no cameras inside the cabin or on the private back deck area, ensuring your complete privacy during your stay. The surveillance system is in place solely to monitor and protect the property, ensuring a safe experience for all guests.brbrInteraction with Guests:brWe respect our guests’ privacy, but we are always available if you need assistance during your stay. You can reach us easily through the app, phone, or text with any questions or concerns. We’re happy to provide local recommendations or help ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
