While you can hear the waves from the cabin, you must walk to the front of the property to view the beach and watch the sunsets. The Elwha river estuary is a short walk away and is well known for surfing and kite boarding. The dam removal project is complete and the legendary native Chinook salmon have returned ( http://projects.seattletimes.com/2016/elwha/ ). Freshwater Bay Beach is now blanketed with sand from the sediment once trapped behind the dams. The Olympic National Park and surrounds are ideal for bird watching, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, crabbing and fishing.
