After 5 years of enjoying several wonderful family ski outings, we’ve decided to share this experience with others. Be the first person or family to explore the great outdoors while staying at the Coal Creek Chalet!brbrbr*We're no longer supplying firewood after Memorial Day 2025 due to several area forest fires. The Goat Rocks fire came within 1 mile of our family cabin. Guests can check local burn bans, and purchase their own fire wood for consumption. Thank youbrbrbrBASIC HOUSE RULESbr• Absolutely NO HOUSE parties on the premise. Loud music, exceeding the guest limit, Bon fires outside of the designated rock circle will result in immediate eviction and damage deposit forfeiture. brThe community has several permanent residents mixed in with folks looking for a quiet relaxing get-away. If there’s a loud party, we’ll get a call. br• Please remove shoes upon entry and clean off any furry friends to help keep the cabin clean for our next guests. br• Check-in time is 4:00 PM. Check-out time is 11:00 AM. br• We unfortunately can’t accommodate requests for early check-ins or late check-outs, as we have a scheduled cleaning timeframe. br• Flushing anything other than pee, poop or toilet paper will automatically forfeit your damage deposit. You'll back up the septic system, which carries severe consequences. Packwood is an outdoor wonderland, surrounded by mountains, rivers and wildlife. After a hard day of hiking, skiing, biking or just walking the river and viewing wildlife, come back to relax and unwind creekside. You can sit by the creek, roast marshmallows in the firepit, or play board games with the family. Our family would like to share this wonderful experience with our guests and strive to make it the most comfortable and relaxing visit possible. brbrDon't worry, though, the cabin is well-equipped with all of the modern amenities for a comfortable stay, including internet access. Upstairs, fall asleep to the sounds of the creek in the main bedroom's queen-sized bed, with its adjoining bath. In the morning, brew a cup of coffee in the master's coffee maker and enjoy it on the attached porch overlooking the creek. The guest bedroom across the hall has a double bed, and the bathroom next door has a tub/shower combo. Off the living room, our versatile bunkroom has a bunk bed and a double, so it can be used for the kids or adults. brbrThe beautiful kitchen has a stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and all of the utensils, dishes, glasses and cookware you need to cook meals for 2 or 12. It includes both a keurig and traditional coffee pot and basic spices. The dining table, crafted from a fir tree on the property, seats 6-8 comfortably and a breakfast bar adds two more seats. The custom-built river rock fireplace burns logs for cozy winter afternoons. If you are visiting in warmer weather, all doors have walk-through screens to let in summer breezes. Named in honor of our daughter's gnome neighborhood located under a majestic cedar tree, this family-friendly rental is ready for fun in all seasons! In the winter we are a short 25-minute drive to White Pass Ski Resort, a laid-back favorite with lessons, rentals and fun for both downhill and cross-country skiing. In the summer our cabin is a quick walk to access the beautiful Cowlitz River and surrounding mountain views, a short drive to Mt. Rainier and the Goat Rocks Wilderness, and our secluded backyard looking out into the woods and surrounded by evergreens is the perfect place to relax and refresh. In the fall maples change colors, in the spring the flowers bloom, and all year we have amazing hiking from an easily accessible walk to a backcountry challenge. And of course, s'mores around the firepit are always in season! Whether it is cold or hot outside, your comfort is ensured by the mini-split system (heat/AC) that can be adjusted by room. The town of Packwood is about a five-minute drive where you can grab groceries or take-out, kick back at the brewery while enjoying the view of Mt. Rainier, or hunt for treasure at the Thrift and Gift!brbrThe cabin sleeps 7 on the available beds, for families with kids we can provide a pack-and-play, cot or floor pad if needed. The primary bedroom has a queen bed and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The second bedroom has a full-size bed on the bottom bunk (arranged so it can be accessed from both sides, no need to crawl over your sleeping partner!) and twin on the top bunk. The study has a comfortable fold out couch. All other mattresses are memory foam. The other bathroom has a tub-shower combo. The cabin is also equipped with an EV Charger for guest use. It is a level 2 charger compatible with J1772 charging plug. This property is pet friendly and has a fenced in back yard. brbrOur kitchen is well-stocked, and there is a propane gas grill on the back deck. And you don't have to scrub dishes on vacation; we have a dishwasher for that! brbrFor a cozy evening, curl up on the new couch and use the Roku TV to access your streaming services, or watch/record live TV with the complimentary YouTube TV account. The cabin also has games and books for your enjoyment. Be sure to check out the owner's guide detailing some of our favorite nature outings and places to visit in the area. brbrAfter a day of skiing or hiking feel free to run a load of laundry in our new washer/dryer in the garage. The garage cannot accommodate a car, but if you would like to bring your bikes from home they can be securely stored there. Packwood is an excellent place for biking, or to access mountain bike trails!brbrIf you have to get a bit of work done while you are here, there is a desk with a comfortable chair in the study, and a docking station for the monitor you are free to use if needed. The cabin has fast Wi-Fi that can accommodate your video meetings while the kids stream a show!
