NOTICE: THE CABIN HAS A LOFT AND A BEDROOM. THE BEDROOM HAS A QUEEN BED, AND THE LOFT HAS A QUEEN AND A TWIN, BOTH ON THE FLOOR. We list our occupancy at 8 so that large families or adventuresome groups can stay, but for some groups, especially older ones, this is only a 4 or 5 person cabin. brWe have two large sofas, a pack-n-play for little ones in the cabin that can also be used. (And by request ahead of time, we have a cot that can be made available.)brbrThis cabin is situated near the top of the hill, just below a couple barns and next to another cabin that is slowly being prepared for use. The 8-acre plot of farmland that the cabin sits on rolls down the hill to Boltz Lake (pronounced Bolt-z). Guests are welcome to take a stroll down the hill and enjoy the scenery. Be aware, though, that if you go in the summer, you may not want to leave...ever. You just disappear into a beautiful nature scene when you go down the hill, and even though the highway and downtown Dry Ridge are only minutes away, you are totally surrounded by nature down there...and a couple distant farms out on the hills. It is common to wake up at the cabin to find a herd of deer walking by outside. brbrWhile the landscaping is slowly moving forward (this is a small family run business), the inside is not waiting for anything. As you step into the cabin, you are surrounded by wood. Wood walls. Wood ceiling, and a large timber wooden ladder that leads up to the loft. The whole atmosphere makes you want to settle in a stay a while. brbrThe loft is a low loft that is 12' x 12' and has a plush queen mattress, as well as a twin mattress. The floor of the loft is made from Tiger Bamboo. brbrBelow the loft is the main bedroom, a cozy place to cuddle up for the night. It also has a plush queen mattress. brbrLinens, blankets, and pillows are provided for all beds. brbrA pack-n-play toddler bed is in the cabin. brbrAlso, a sturdy single-person cot is available in the cabin.brbrThe bathroom is inside the bedroom and is a full bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. Basic amenities like bars of shower soap and shampoo bottles are provided. Towels and washcloths are also provided. brbrOutside the bedroom is a large common area which has a kitchen, living room, and dining area. brThe kitchen is a full-sized kitchen, with full sized stove and convection oven, microwave, sink, and a small fridge. Pots, pans, cups, and plates are all provided. (We would enjoy hearing your ideas for improvement!)brbrThe living room has two large leather sofas, which make for two extra sleeping locations, if people don't mind sleeping on a couch. br brThe dining area has a 6 foot slab table. It has 6 chairs, plus a high chair. brbrWhile the cabin is further from the highway than most or all hotels around, it is still within distant earshot of the highway. To assure that the highway noise does not prevent any rest, we have purchased excellent noise-cancelling curtains that double as blackout curtains and have also provided an ambient, high fidelity noise machine that recreates 21 different soothing sounds to choose from.brWireless internet is, of course, provided.brbrPlease be aware, as I mentioned above, that the bathroom is inside the main bedroom. This can cause an awkward situation if guests are outside sleeping in the living room or loft but need to use the restroom at night. brbrAt the cabin door, you will only be 8 minutes from the Ark Encounter entrance. (If you get stuck at the traffic light, it may be 9 minutes.) It has a full kitchen (with all dishes included) with two dorm size refrigerators, as well as a full bathroom with small shower stall. Note that the wide angle lens used to capture the images of the inside of the cabin make it look slightly larger than it is. br...brbrThe cabin is situated near the top of the property, which slopes down hill for 8 acres and ends at Boltz Lake. Guests are welcome to explore down to the lake and enjoy the beautiful nature scenery. Fishing is permitted at the lake with a fishing license that can be obtained at Walmart just 1.5 miles away. Within a short drive, a dock amd boat ramp are located on the opposite side of the lake. It was clean and really cute. I think the listing could better reflect accommodations to say two small dorm refrigerators and loft is most comfortable for children. Adults had to crawl into bed as there is no head space. It is truly a loft. The beds were comfortable. Two adults and children would be very comfortable. I thought the couch was a sleeper sofa because the listing read sleeps 6. The bedroom has a queen size bed, the sofa is comfortable for sleeping one (and it is comfortable to sleep on), and the loft has two comfortable twins on the floor that requires you to crawl in ( a problem for claustrophobics). Our stay was a good one and we felt safe.
