The cabin sleeps 9 people with 3 bedrooms plus an additional daybed on the main floor just off the screened in porch. you could sleep 2 more with the sofa bed in the living room. Notify the host if you plan to utilize the sofa bed. The house has 1.5 Baths. The main floor has large walk-in shower, vanity and toilet. The upstairs has a half-bath. The Dale Hollow State Park Marina rents boats. Call ahead and reserve for the best selection. The State Park also offers a range of activities such as hiking, biking, a cave tour and bird-watching. Our favorites are hiking to Eagle Point and the Cave at the DHL State Park. If you have a large group and need additional lodging, the lodge at the DHL State Park has lodge rooms for additional guests and a campground. It is a 3 minute drive from the driveway of the house. We have had several family reunions utilize both locations and spend evenings at our home around the firepit!!! The lodge also has a restaurant that overlooks the lake and it is open for anyone. We like to go for the buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. brbrAs the sun sets, gather around the fire pit and share stories, roast marshmallows, and create unforgettable memories with loved ones. Or grab one of the games provided at the house, and have a fun night together. The lodge offers a dinner buffet on the weekends during the summer and it is good food. Definitely a favorite for families! The state park lodge is open on weekends only during the winter months. Dale Hollow Sweets is right around corner, the milkshakes, cupcakes and fudge our favorites. They also serve a cheeseburger that is yummy. The Bait Shop next to Dale Hollow Sweets, offers breakfast (we love the pork tenderloin sandwiches) and biscuits & Gravy. Last, the very fun “Mikes Landing “ located at Sulphur Creek Resort, is only about a 12 minute drive by car. Mikes landing has live music and a waterfront bar/restaurant that can be reached by boat or car. Mike’s landing is open seasonally from April thru the end of October. Many guests also like to visit SKD distillery nearby.brOur charming little town of Burkesville is a short drive and has several delicious restaurants. Our favorites are: Pizza Hut, Sounds Good Pizza Restaurant, Annie Ruby’s Cafe and the IGA grocery store. We also like Angie’s Buffet in Albany, Ky. Additionally, during the summer, Burkesville has a farmers market next to the town square on Saturday Mornings. He frequently will come up and bark his warning barks at you, He is a complete sweetheart on the inside. He just wants to make sure you know who’s boss. If you are traveling with any pets, it is very important that I am there when you arrive so I can introduce our animals to your babies. We have Goats, Sheep and chickens on the property too. brbrWe do have a hot tub set up under the carport that may be available for use depending on if it’s clean and functioning while you are here. :). Hourly or daily boat rentals available at the local marina. Walk along the peaceful creek at the bottom of our property right across the street from the driveway, Fish in our little pond (depending on water levels at the time you are here), play with puppies, pet on all our furry friends and watch our baby goats frolicking in the field! Or keep to yourself, stay cosy in our peaceful cottage. Our farm has goats, rabbits, chickens (think fresh eggs :) and of course Dogs! If you LOVE dogs, then this is your place.brbrYou can walk back down the driveway and across the road frontage to the peaceful Creek that runs through the hollow. Enjoy the cool water, but please plan on wearing shoes in the water as the slate is very slippery. You’re welcome to climb up the hill behind the old barn to the top of the ridge if you’d like. Make sure you wear long pants and close toed shoes. Please spray yourself down with tick & bug repellent if you are heading up there during the spring or summer months. You may enjoy our little pond and you are welcome to go fishing. Please be aware we do have dogs and they may bark at you at first. Our dogs are loose on the property only a few at a time. They may bark when they first see you, but all are friendly. We have a huge Anatolian Shepherd guard dog. His name is Lando, he doesn’t trust vehicles, so he will bark at you and your car! However, as menacing as he may appear, he is harmless and a giant 140lb lap dog.brIf you have dogs, please do not walk them up and around our dogs at the main house until we’ve already helped properly introduce them to each other. Watch the Otters, soring Eagles and listen to the owls, tree frogs and coyotes at night. We are about 8 miles down river from Burkesville and 38 miles downstream from Cumberland Lake. Twenty minutes from Sulphur Springs-Dale Hollow, forty minutes from Wolf Creek Dam and Hatchery Creek. The house is Victorian on the outside and cabin on the inside. The upstairs has a loft with a futon, upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a pullout couch, shower and laundry. Downstairs Bedroom is a double bed, pullout couch and Full bath. The living room has a pullout couch and two oversized chairs surrounding the fireplace. My wife decorated this and I will tell you, you will love this place. Between the swing on the front porch and the beautiful back patio and river hammock you can choose your method of relaxation. brbrSit by the fire, pitch horseshoes, fish and BBQ on one of the Wood, Charcoal or Gas grills over looking the river or get adventurous and try your hand at the Wood fired pizza oven! There are playing cards, cribbage, corn hole, crokinole and a dartboard if you like games. AC, Heat, Galley Kitchen, indoor fireplace, washer/dryer, sheets, pillows and towels. There is also wifi, Internet ROKU TV. brbrYou can use the boat ramp that adjoins the property it is a community ramp that we maintain. You won't see the boat activity down here that you see in the first 15 miles down from Wolf Creek Dam, six boats a day is a lot. This a great base camp for large trout, striper and walleye.
