NOTICE: THE CABIN HAS A LOFT AND A BEDROOM. THE BEDROOM HAS A QUEEN BED, AND THE LOFT HAS A QUEEN AND A TWIN, BOTH ON THE FLOOR. We list our occupancy at 8 so that large families or adventuresome groups can stay, but for some groups, especially older ones, this is only a 4 or 5 person cabin.
We have two large sofas, a pack-n-play for little ones in the cabin that can also be used. (And by request ahead of time, we have a cot that can be made available.)

This cabin is situated near the top of the hill, just below a couple barns and next to another cabin that is slowly being prepared for use. The 8-acre plot of farmland that the cabin sits on rolls down the hill to Boltz Lake (pronounced Bolt-z). Guests are welcome to take a stroll down the hill and enjoy the scenery. Be aware, though, that if you go in the summer, you may not want to leave...ever. You just disappear into a beautiful nature scene when you go down the hill, and even though the highway and downtown Dry Ridge are only minutes away, you are totally surrounded by nature down there...and a couple distant farms out on the hills. It is common to wake up at the cabin to find a herd of deer walking by outside.

While the landscaping is slowly moving forward (this is a small family run business), the inside is not waiting for anything. As you step into the cabin, you are surrounded by wood. Wood walls. Wood ceiling, and a large timber wooden ladder that leads up to the loft. The whole atmosphere makes you want to settle in a stay a while.

The loft is a low loft that is 12' x 12' and has a plush queen mattress, as well as a twin mattress. The floor of the loft is made from Tiger Bamboo.

Below the loft is the main bedroom, a cozy place to cuddle up for the night. It also has a plush queen mattress.

Linens, blankets, and pillows are provided for all beds.

A pack-n-play toddler bed is in the cabin.

Also, a sturdy single-person cot is available in the cabin.

The bathroom is inside the bedroom and is a full bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. Basic amenities like bars of shower soap and shampoo bottles are provided. Towels and washcloths are also provided.

Outside the bedroom is a large common area which has a kitchen, living room, and dining area.
The kitchen is a full-sized kitchen, with full sized stove and convection oven, microwave, sink, and a small fridge. Pots, pans, cups, and plates are all provided. (We would enjoy hearing your ideas for improvement!)

The living room has two large leather sofas, which make for two extra sleeping locations, if people don't mind sleeping on a couch.

The dining area has a 6 foot slab table. It has 6 chairs, plus a high chair.

While the cabin is further from the highway than most or all hotels around, it is still within distant earshot of the highway. To assure that the highway noise does not prevent any rest, we have purchased excellent noise-cancelling curtains that double as blackout curtains and have also provided an ambient, high fidelity noise machine that recreates 21 different soothing sounds to choose from.
Wireless internet is, of course, provided.

Please be aware, as I mentioned above, that the bathroom is inside the main bedroom. This can cause an awkward situation if guests are outside sleeping in the living room or loft but need to use the restroom at night.

At the cabin door, you will only be 8 minutes from the Ark Encounter entrance. (If you get stuck at the traffic light, it may be 9 minutes.) Heading north, you are 40 minutes from the Creation Museum, with Big Bone Lick State Historic Site half way between the Creation Museum and the cabin.
Downtown Cincinnati is 36 minutes, the Cincinnati Zoo is 42 minutes, and Lexington to the south is 45 minutes.
Walmart is 1.5 miles away.

Contactless checkin

(Cabin stays cozy even when the temps get into the minus degrees outside.)

FOR THOSE WITH ANIMALS: According to recent research, between 10 and 20% of the population worldwide are allergic to household pets such as dogs and cats. Any allergy-sufferer will know, it’s a long process to transform a property from pet-friendly to pet-free, as dander can remain long after pets depart. (From Lodgify) Our facilities are pet-free and we ask that anyone who desires to bring an animal seek out one of the openly animal-friendly rentals in our area so that those with severe allergies can come without endangering their comfort or their health. Enjoyed our stay. Convenient location to The Ark Encounter. The area around the property is under renovation so we didn’t get to explore much. The second bedroom/loft is more of an overhead crawl space. No outlet to charge my phone. Better suited for children than adults. Fireplace not working. That would have been nice with the cold front that came through.

Loved how clean and cozy this cabin was. Beautifully finished and equipped to the finest detail. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom was very clean and well stocked with fresh towels and even little soaps to use. It was the perfect spot to stay if traveling to see the Ark Encounter and Creation museum. Nice and quiet with a rustic feel.

Jonathan is just incredible, and is an exceptional communicator. We highly recommend this property.

We completely loved our stay at this adorable cabin. You call tell it was made with love and care. We really loved that there was NO television. Our 4 year old grandson loves the electric fireplace and would sit by the fire every morning. He also loved playing the piano and climbing up and down the ladder to the loft. He started calling it the tree house. We have been home for several days now and he has asked to go back already. Great stay.

Jonathan the owner was super nice and helpful. The property was nice and we could see the improvements that were and are being made. The cabin was a little smaller than I expected, but nice. We could not use the loft for the grandsons which made everything tighter. The loft had ants on the ceiling. I called Jonathan and he did come and spray but the ants did remain. We did have a nice visit.

It's private and quaint. However, I don't advise seniors to use the loft. It is really low and dangerous for elderly due to having to climb a later; otherwise, it is fine for children or young adults. Jonathan was super helpful in making sure the directions were clear and concise. He also was available if we had problems. I would recommend this cabin.

Read ALL directions in online welcome booklet you will get through Vrbo message, has very detailed directions for finding the property, including actual photos with arrows so you can NOT miss it, even in the dark, & specific info for keyless code pad on front door as well as backup realtor box with actual key inside to get in. Cabin is so cozy, & VERY quiet & enjoyable for relaxing & sleeping. NO problems with allergies (dust, pollen, dogs), hardwood floors, could tell it's very clean & well cared for, noticed zippered pillow protectors, like we use at home! Even nice hotels (including Marriott, Hampton) that we've stayed at in past years, caused our dust allergies to bother us. We notice pretty quickly & usually wake up very stuffy. NOT so with this cabin! The heaters in various areas were perfect & kept it cozy during cold spells at night, & we appreciate all of the MANY little extras available here, even though we didn't need everything, it was great to know those items were on site (salt & pepper, Qtips, new toothbrushes, baby wipes, etc). Hot water works great & heats up within seconds. Cabin seems really well insulated, & I did notice, with some strong winds during our stay, that there are NO tall trees anywhere close which could fall on the cabin.  THANK YOU for everything, and especially for offering a pet-free place to stay. Most places in this area, including the Hampton right next to the Ark, allow pets, & I would have been miserable with my dog allergy.

The cabin is small, but cozy. We stayed with our family of seven and enjoyed the close quarters and the great location (about ten minutes from the Ark Encounter). (Also, less than a mile from a Cracker Barrel where we enjoyed dinner one night.) Beautiful view of Kentucky topography. The only downside to our visit was the weather - serious storms. We did lose power for our final night and morning there, but still had water. We would use this rental again!
