Mountain Cabin: 2 bed/2 bath, Fire pit, Close to Yellowstone and a moose family!

Island Park, Idaho, United States

We are sharing our family cabin in Island Park. Our cabin is 18 miles from the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park, but only a few miles as the crow flies. Island Park is the same ecosystem as Yellowstone. The area is heavily wooded, there are lots of rivers, ponds, and lakes (with blue ribbon fishing), lots of animals (e.g., moose, grizzly and black bears, elk, bald eagles, coyotes, and if you get really lucky you might see a wolf!), and 100's of miles of recreation trails. You can snowmobile or ride your UTV/ATV right from the cabin. Henry's Lake for fishing or recreating is a five-minute drive, and Island Park Reservoir is about 15 minutes. Harriman State Park is only 30 minutes to the south. Big Springs, where you can feed the biggest trout you've ever seen, is only a few miles. The drive to Mesa Falls (~30 miles) might be the most beautiful you haven't yet experienced, and the falls themselves are spectacular and easily accessible to anyone.brbrWe love to cut s'mores in our fire pit, grill tasty meat, and sit on the master balcony and listen to all the sounds at night. We love visiting Yellowstone, but we often choose to ride our side by side (we can usually cover about 100 miles/day without ever traversing the same road). The recreation trails in Island Park are meticulously maintained. brbrA few highlights:br-18 miles to Yellowstone National Parkbr-4 miles to the Yellowstone Playhousebr-World class fishing in, literally, every directionbr-Private master balcony on the top level and a large wrap around deck on the main level (with outdoor furniture on each)br-Fully equipped kitchenbr-BBQ, propane providedbr-Fire pitbr-TV and Rokubr-Fast fiber Internetbr-Washer and Dryerbr-DishwasherbrbrThe cabin is laid out as follows. The main level has a large family room with a TV and two built-in desks, a dining area with a table large enough to seat 8 adults, the kitchen, and a full bathroom (bathtub and shower). The top level has two bedrooms and a sleeping loft. The master bathroom is in the master bedroom and has a shower (no tub). The master bedroom has a queen bed. The second bedroom has a double bed. The sleeping loft has four double beds (two double over double bunk beds). All the bed frames were handmade out of wood harvested from our own property here in Island Park.brbrOur cabin is a delight, and people have loved staying. We deliberately keep our prices on the lower end of what people charge for comparable properties in the area. We are new to VRBO but long-time super hosts on another listing site.

Island Park Cabin Near Yellowstone sleeps 5-6

Island Park, Idaho, United States

The Big Chalet – Cozy, Comfortable, Close to YellowstonebrIf you’re looking for a clean, comfortable forest chalet — not luxury, not modern showroom vibes — just a solid, cozy Idaho stay close to Yellowstone, this could be a great fit.brbrThe Big Chalet sits at the end of a quiet road on an acre lot surrounded by national forest. It shares the property with the Little Chalet next door, so while it feels peaceful and tucked away, you may see other guests coming and going.brbrInside you’ll find two queen beds (one in the main bedroom and one upstairs) plus a sleeper sofa in the living room. It works well for small to medium families who want space to spread out after a full day exploring.brbrThe kitchen is stocked with the essentials: gas stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, cookware, and dishes. There’s a full bathroom near the main bedroom and a half bath with washer and dryer on the main level. The living room has hardwood floors and comfortable seating to relax at the end of the day.brbrWe do have fiber WiFi, which is a big plus in Island Park and works well for streaming or remote work.brOutside is where this place really shines. The back deck wraps around much of the chalet and overlooks the trees. There’s a fire pit below (please follow current fire restrictions). Nights are quiet, and the stars are usually incredible.brbrThe river is a 5-minute walk or less from the chalet, depending on your pace. While the property is not directly on the river, it’s very close and easy to access for cooling off, floating, or launching nearby. You can float toward Mack’s Inn or simply enjoy the shoreline. Bring your own tubes or rent in town — we’re happy to share recommendations.brbrYellowstone’s West Entrance is typically 25–35 minutes away depending on traffic. Johnny Sacks Cabin is also just a short drive.brbrA Few Important Notes (so expectations are clear):br• This is a forest chalet — you may see pine needles, bugs, wildlife, or dust from the woods. We clean thoroughly, but nature is part of staying in the trees.br• The Big Chalet and Little Chalet sit side by side on the property.br• There is one large driveway that comfortably fits two vehicles.br• No trailer hook-ups (we cannot provide water or power to trailers).br• Cell service can be spotty depending on your carrier.br• A simple rental agreement is required after booking (Airbnb-approved).br• An Airbnb-approved refundable security deposit hold is also required. It works like a hotel hold and is released after our cleaning team confirms there is no damage or missing items.brbrThese policies help us take care of the home and keep it affordable and available for families visiting Island Park.brbrIf you’re looking for luxury finishes and resort amenities, this may not be the right fit.brbrIf you want coffee on the deck, river access just down the road, Yellowstone days, and a comfortable, honest place to land at night — you’ll likely love The Big Chalet.brbrWe’re nearby and available by text if you need anything. We truly want your stay to feel smooth, comfortable, and exactly as described.

Summer months are fine with a small car but four wheel drive is a must in the winter!brbrbrbrOther Things to Note:brbrWhat to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!brbrbrbrInteraction with Guests:brbrIf guests have any questions or concerns during their stay, Please call or text, we do not monitor Airbnb messages late in the evening or early morning.
