She and her husband, were doing a lot of the work on both houses themselves. “What started as a process of blood, sweat, and a few tears,” she admits, “quickly became a labor of love.”brbrI tell her that the love comes through, even in photos of the absolutely adorable little A-frame cabin. She thanks me graciously. “We’re so very proud of it.”brbrAs their hometown of Ashville continued to grow, they had started looking for some peace and quiet farther south. When they found Dahlonega, with its magical combination of history, natural beauty, outdoor activities, and local culture, they knew they had found their new home. The town’s residents exude a sense of warmth and charm: “People here are some of the genuinely kindest, friendliest, and good-natured folk you can ever meet.brbrThey had done a fair bit of traveling. At first it was just the two of them and their mild-mannered spaniel-lab mix; then the baby came along. They had stayed at lots of AirBnb’s — “We’re just not hotel people” — but were frequently disappointed.brbr“Some places claimed to be dog-friendly, or appropriate for families, but that’s not the sense we got from them.”brbrWhen they started building Tiny Mansion as a rental property (and a place for visiting family to stay), they decided to create something they would have appreciated in their traveling days.brbr“[Tiny Mansion] has water-proof flooring, a wipe-off couch, a fenced-in yard where the dog can bark to its heart’s content — and you’re in the woods, so you don’t have to shush your screaming kid, either.brbrIt’s not all about function, though, as you’ll see stepping through the front door. The cabin is the definition of minimalist, stylish, light-filled, funky comfort. From the mushroom ottoman and live edge coffee table (“The woods here are mushroom heaven!”) to the industrial-style rustic shelves and spiral staircase — they put a lot of thought and effort into form, too. The lighting is just right all over the house, and the white tile/wood/gray theme really makes this chic new build really pop. Amenities and gadgets — the gas heater on the deck, and smokeless stove in the yard — make it an even cozier escape for you and one or two other people you really like. Or love. And a furbaby.brbrAs we finish our conversation I ask her about the pine tree growing through the deck.brbr“I’m crazy about them,” she says. “Trees, I mean. I love the shade and the smell of them. I love the woods…”brbrWhen building Tiny Mansion, they took out as few trees as possible, and insisted on that old pine staying right where it was. No refunds will be given for weather related cancellations.brbr-Please be aware that you will be receiving a link to our booking contract via text within 24 hours of making your reservation. If you do not see it come through, please let us know as it must be signed. We are happy to answer any questions about its contents.brbr-This property has all private amenities and is self-check-in. We will text you information pertinent to your stay including a link to our booking agreement (shortly after reserving), a link to the property guidebook that includes the address and important directions (3days before check in), and the code to the smart lock on the door (around 2:30 pm the day of check in)brbr-Our cancellation policy is firm but if there are other dates you would like to move a reservation to. The fee for this will vary from $150 - $300 depending on the cabin, how close to the check in date your reservation currently is and availability.brbr-Pet Fee is $75 per dog. We only allow dogs. No cats. Pets shall always be secured within the boundaries of the property. If the property is not fenced, pets must be kept on a leash and always accompanied by the pet owner while outside. The cabin is secluded in a wooded lot with 'surround-sound' made by the rushing Chestatee River. The house is made from 'all-natural' materials with all wood walls, floors, and ceilings down to a river-stone fireplace. It's like having the outdoors inside with you. The house has 3 bedrooms which sleeps 8. Upstairs is surrounded on three sides by decks. Downstairs has a long deck facing the river. The house overlooks the Chestatee River. Down at the river is a screened in porch with fans, a fire pit, tables and chairs. The river is a great place to read, fish, sleep in the hammock, picnic, cook over the campfire or cook on the charcoal grill as you enjoy the peace of the river. The river area is like being in another world where you and your friends or family members will feel like they are the only people in the world. You will enjoy the house but be enchanted by the river and surrounding area. There is a charcoal grill on the left hand side of the deck Please bring your own charcoal and empty the ash over the railing.brbrThe driveway down to the river is steep. If you choose to drive down there, be sure to keep your foot on the gas as you drive up the driveway to avoid getting stuck. If you are concerned if your car will make it back up, please just walk down the driveway.brbrThe driveway also has some cracks from being uprooted by trees. Please drive very, very slowly especially as you enter the forked driveway to the cabin. We are working on fixing it, but there is a concrete shortage. brbrThe cabin uses a well for its water supply. Please space out showers and conserve water so the well has a chance to pump more water into the cabin. The cabin is also on septic tank. Please only flush septic-safe toilet paper and use the trash can for anything else. brbrNote: There is a $25 charge per person for each person over 6 people.brbrNote: Dogs are allowed. Dog must be totally house-trained and cannot be in beds or furniture. Please be respectful of this rule. The cabin has three porches, one fully screened, a grill and ample seating. There are three bedrooms; queen in master, queen and two singles in the loft, and bunkroom.
