She and her husband, were doing a lot of the work on both houses themselves. “What started as a process of blood, sweat, and a few tears,” she admits, “quickly became a labor of love.”brbrI tell her that the love comes through, even in photos of the absolutely adorable little A-frame cabin. She thanks me graciously. “We’re so very proud of it.”brbrAs their hometown of Ashville continued to grow, they had started looking for some peace and quiet farther south. When they found Dahlonega, with its magical combination of history, natural beauty, outdoor activities, and local culture, they knew they had found their new home. The town’s residents exude a sense of warmth and charm: “People here are some of the genuinely kindest, friendliest, and good-natured folk you can ever meet.brbrThey had done a fair bit of traveling. At first it was just the two of them and their mild-mannered spaniel-lab mix; then the baby came along. They had stayed at lots of AirBnb’s — “We’re just not hotel people” — but were frequently disappointed.brbr“Some places claimed to be dog-friendly, or appropriate for families, but that’s not the sense we got from them.”brbrWhen they started building Tiny Mansion as a rental property (and a place for visiting family to stay), they decided to create something they would have appreciated in their traveling days.brbr“[Tiny Mansion] has water-proof flooring, a wipe-off couch, a fenced-in yard where the dog can bark to its heart’s content — and you’re in the woods, so you don’t have to shush your screaming kid, either.brbrIt’s not all about function, though, as you’ll see stepping through the front door. The cabin is the definition of minimalist, stylish, light-filled, funky comfort. From the mushroom ottoman and live edge coffee table (“The woods here are mushroom heaven!”) to the industrial-style rustic shelves and spiral staircase — they put a lot of thought and effort into form, too. The lighting is just right all over the house, and the white tile/wood/gray theme really makes this chic new build really pop. Amenities and gadgets — the gas heater on the deck, and smokeless stove in the yard — make it an even cozier escape for you and one or two other people you really like. Or love. And a furbaby.brbrAs we finish our conversation I ask her about the pine tree growing through the deck.brbr“I’m crazy about them,” she says. “Trees, I mean. I love the shade and the smell of them. I love the woods…”brbrWhen building Tiny Mansion, they took out as few trees as possible, and insisted on that old pine staying right where it was. The carpenter, a friend of theirs, built the deck around it.brbrWhether it’s the surrounding forests in this southern Appalachian region, filled with pines and oaks and dogwoods (a beloved symbol of spring in Georgia), the friendly people, or this charming cabin that gets you here… You and yours will love and cherish your time in Dahlonega.brbrThe Small Print:brBEFORE YOU BOOK:br-Area wide power outages are common in the mountains and no refunds will be given if an area wide power outage happens during your stay. Cabin

Charming cabin in the glorious mountains of North Georgia.

Dahlonega, Georgia, United States

Please read the notes at the end of this description.brbrThis property personifies the word peace and serenity. The cabin is secluded in a wooded lot with 'surround-sound' made by the rushing Chestatee River. The house is made from 'all-natural' materials with all wood walls, floors, and ceilings down to a river-stone fireplace. It's like having the outdoors inside with you. The house has 3 bedrooms which sleeps 8. Upstairs is surrounded on three sides by decks. Downstairs has a long deck facing the river. The house overlooks the Chestatee River. Down at the river is a screened in porch with fans, a fire pit, tables and chairs. The river is a great place to read, fish, sleep in the hammock, picnic, cook over the campfire or cook on the charcoal grill as you enjoy the peace of the river. The river area is like being in another world where you and your friends or family members will feel like they are the only people in the world. You will enjoy the house but be enchanted by the river and surrounding area. There is a charcoal grill on the left hand side of the deck Please bring your own charcoal and empty the ash over the railing.brbrThe driveway down to the river is steep. If you choose to drive down there, be sure to keep your foot on the gas as you drive up the driveway to avoid getting stuck. If you are concerned if your car will make it back up, please just walk down the driveway.brbrThe driveway also has some cracks from being uprooted by trees. Please drive very, very slowly especially as you enter the forked driveway to the cabin. We are working on fixing it, but there is a concrete shortage. brbrThe cabin uses a well for its water supply. Please space out showers and conserve water so the well has a chance to pump more water into the cabin. The cabin is also on septic tank. Please only flush septic-safe toilet paper and use the trash can for anything else. brbrNote: There is a $25 charge per person for each person over 6 people.brbrNote: Dogs are allowed. Dog must be totally house-trained and cannot be in beds or furniture. Please be respectful of this rule. There is a $50 fee for the first pet and $20 for each additional pet. brPlease contact owner for further details and limitations. brbrNote: The cancellation policy that I use is in the rental agreement. My cancellation policy is more lenient than the one shown on the listing.

Historic Dahlonega, Georgia, gateway to the Appalachian Mountains, is the site of the first major U.S. gold rush. Come pan for gold in the Chestatee river. This large home is located directly on the Chestatee just before the old Coppermines. It was recently renovated, and is ready for eager treasure hunters and vacationers. We have central heating and air with a ductless air conditioning system in the honeymoon suite on the top floor and we continue to make improvements each year to ensure our guests have a great experience!brbrThis warm, inviting home on the river was built in 1997. It has five bedrooms, three and a half baths, two great rooms, and two kitchens. All the rooms have high ceilings including the ground floor. If you like vaulted wood ceilings and the heavenly sound and view of the river just one hundred feet off the covered back deck, this is the place to spend your vacation.brbrThe upstairs living space consists of two suites, each on a different floor with their own private bathrooms, a great room, a dining room, a full kitchen, a half bath, and a covered porch overlooking the river. The master bedroom on the main floor has a king size bed and a full private bathroom. The honeymoon suite upstairs has an Amish king-size bed, a daybed with a trundle, a sitting area, a vaulted wood ceiling, and a full private bathroom. Guests with minor mobility issues can easily access the bedroom on the main floor (only two steps on the front porch). We also have a handicap shower/bathtub bench for the main floor master bathroom. The house is not handicap accessible although one previous guest with a wheelchair commented that she was able to get around the main floor just fine. brbrThe terrace level (ground floor) has three bedrooms, a great room/kitchen combo, one full bathroom, and a patio under the main deck also overlooking the river. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds. The third bedroom has two twin beds with a built-in loft for children. brbrIn total there are two king beds, two queen beds, two twin beds with a built-in loft, and a daybed with a trundle bed.brbrThe accommodations are perfect for two couples with children, large extended families, a girls, guys or couples retreat, groups attending a wedding (we get a lot), family and company gatherings and wine tour groups. The upstairs living area is also quite cozy if you’re looking for more of a romantic getaway or have a smaller group. The main floor and upstairs suite has an old feel to it even though the house is relatively new and it has an open airy feeling with high ceilings and lots of natural light from the windows. Several rooms have antique dressers and gold accents. For our larger groups, there’s easily enough room to park up to eight vehicles.brbrOne of our favorite activities at the house is relaxing by the river with friends and family and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. brbrHave you ever panned for gold This house comes with several gold pans so your family and friends can come search for gold without ever leaving the property. Several guests have found gold right on the property. brbrThere are many fun things to do in and around Dahlonega including outdoor sports like kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and golf. There are also a lot of great vineyards (Cavender Creek, Wolf Mountain, Three Sisters, & Frogtown to name a few nearby), restaurants (Bourbon Street Grille is our favorite for dinner or brunch), antique shops, arts and crafts stores, wildlife preserves, and festivals to explore. The Smith House is a historic family style buffet worth visiting. Lake Lanier is also only 30 minutes south of Dahlonega in Cumming and Gainesville.brbrDon’t forget to have your picture taken with our life-size wooden hillbilly, Jed! He’ll be out on the back deck with his moonshine awaiting your arrival.brbrBook this exciting vacation getaway… make your reservations now!brbrLumpkin County Georgia Business License #3912 / Short-Term Rental License #005brbrThere are smart doorbells installed by the front & rear entrances with audio and video recording capabilities for security purposes.
