The generously sized all brick house was designed and built for Adele Goerz, one of Savannah's earliest female real estate developers. Adele, the widow of a baker raised 3 children on her own after his early death. The row house comprises the four properties between 102 and 111 West Jones Street and was completed in 1853. It is a contributing property of the Savannah Historic District, itself on the National Register of Historic Places. In the mid-19th century, the property was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey as being significant for its representation of mid-19th-century Savannah row houses, particularly due to its high stoops. Mr. William Remshart was a real estate investor and lived in this row house with his 17 children. This location is steps from all the best fine dining restaurants Savannah has to offer, as well as museums, casual restaurants, boutiques, specialty stores, bars, day spas and historic landmarks.brbrThe condo has a large gourmet kitchen with marble counter tops which is open to a great dining room and living room with leather sectional sofa. The back bedroom has a Queen bed and nice bathroom next door off the hallway. The master bedroom at the front of the unit has a King bed, a lovely en suite bathroom and walk in closet. Conveniently, you will have a private laundry room with Whirlpool front loader washer and dryer. The building has coded entry from street level into the lobby stairwell area. This unit is on floor 2 of a 2 story building and there is no elevator so this is unsuitable for anyone who cannot walk up stairs. Parking is on-street and meters are best handled by downloading the ParkSavannah App to pay for any numbered space through an app on your phone. Or by paying one of the several public parking garages within a 3 block radius directly.brbrWe are lucky to have a 24/7 garage access card for our guests at this condo. The garage is one block away from the building and parking for one car is covered with a small $15 flat fee to use our access card. If all you really need is a great location and you do not need remodeled modern finishes to make you happy this could be a great fit. brbrFull Bath and Kitchen. This apartment is on the street level of a Savannah Grey Brick townhouse in the Historic District. There is a King bed in the bedroom, a TV in both bedroom and living room, a comfortable dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and even a shared (with the main house) courtyard out the back door. Amazing value for a large apartment in a prime location! King bed in bedroom, Rollaway Cot and a 4th person may sleep on the sofa. Bathroom located next to bedroom, accessible from hallway without walking through bedroom (great setup if someone is sleeping in the living room). Nice new Washer and Dryer in unit. brbrPlease note, at some point last century the wall on the West side of the house which originally had arched openings into a side garden was fully bricked in to make a solid wall. Therefore 2 of the main windows in the apartment look out into a bricked-in corridor instead of onto the street. This makes for a very sound sleeping environment in the very dark bedroom! But it also cuts back on natural light in the unit. This is part of the reason the rate on this rental is 'budget friendly'.
