This cabin has a large front & back deck with a beautiful view of the pines. You’ll walk inside to the living area with a wood stove and beautiful kitchen area. Walk upstairs to the large game room which includes many arcade style games.brbrbrbrThe Space:brbrWe CANNOT accommodate any PETS due to a severe pet allergy- if you're caught with one, you will be charged a non refundable $700 non disclosed pet fee. brbrbrbrIn adherence to the commitment to safety, comfort, and quality service, we have implemented an over occupancy charge of $100 per night per person for guests exceeding the predetermined occupancy limits. This policy serves as a deterrent to prevent overcrowding and ensure that all guests can enjoy a secure and enjoyable stay.brbrbrbrThrough the front door, you'll enter into the open living & kitchen area. Welcome to our family cabin, in the hills of Shaver Lake’s old West Village and the heart of the Sierra National Forest!brbrOur cabin offers easy access to all the area has to offer. Restaurants and shops are just a five-minute walk into town. And beautiful Dorabella Cove on the lake - perfect for relaxing, fishing, swimming, or setting out on a local hike - can be reached in an easy 10-15 minutes by foot. Boat launches, water-sports rentals, and the local free museum are just a five-minute drive up the road. And China Peak is just 19 miles away, making the cabin a great home base for skiing, snowboarding, and back-country adventure.brbrThe cabin itself also ideally blends modern comfort and convenience with old-time authenticity and charm. We bought it fully renovated in 2019, and have enjoyed adding amenities since. But it was first built nearly 75 years prior and retains many original details. The cabin’s present-day amenities include:brbr- A cozy back patio with a fire pit, an old stone grill, and Adirondack- and bench-style seating, perfect for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows or enjoying an evening around the fire. brbr- A new (in fall 2023) six-person hot tub, set on a covered patio overlooking the fire pit.brbr- A large front deck with a covered, bar-style eating area, two separate lounge-style seating areas, a comfy two-person hammock, and a full-sized gas grill connected directly to the cabin’s main propane line.brbr- A well-equipped kitchen stocked with everything from dishes and utensils to cookware, a crock pot, a blender, baking sheets, and spices.brbr- A large, thermostat-controlled gas fireplace capable of delivering both ambiance and heat (a lot of it, depending on the settings) at the touch of button.brbr- A tankless hot-water heater capable of delivering unlimited hot water - and thus showers - on demand.brbr- Reliable high-speed internet on a well-meshed Google-Home system capable of streaming video to at least a half dozen work, school, and/or entertainment devices at once (we all lived, worked, and went to remote school from there for months at a time during the pandemic).brbr- A cozy loft workspace situated under a large roof-window balcony that overlooks the deck while delivering natural light, fresh air, and upstairs access to the outdoors.brbr- A full office in a separate outbuilding on the property, featuring a large, live-edge pine desk, two leather office chairs, two high-definition monitors, a leather recliner, a TV, a portable A/C unit, and a thermostat-controlled gas stove for both ambiance and heat - perfect for remote work or schooling (or even just gaming or relaxing) and available by prior, separate arrangement (normally in connection with a longer stay or for a small additional fee).brbr- A laundry room in the same outbuilding, featuring a full-sized washer and dryer and similarly available by prior, separate arrangement.brbr- A Level 2 EV charger for easy overnight charging (currently set 20A for our PHEV, but wired at 70A and adjustable with just a bit of notice).brbr- Security-camera coverage of both parking areas and the outbuilding area, including the adjacent hot tub (privacy matters; the cameras are just for security, and no living space or either the front deck or the back patio is covered).brbrWe also love pets! And our pets love the cabin. The place is set up for them, with retractable gates at the front and back stairs to the deck and food and water dishes available just inside the back door. We do require advance approval of any pets and generally charge a $25 fee per pet per night, to help defray additional cleaning and wear-and-tear costs. brbrPlease don’t hesitate to message us any time, with any questions at all. This truly is our family cabin, where we ourselves stay regularly for anywhere from days to weeks (and in one instance months) at a time as an escape from the city and a base for exploring the area. Just a few miles south downtown, you're out of the the hustle and bustle during busy weekends, but close enough enjoy restaurants, grocery stores, shops, and watersports with just a quick drive. Just a few miles south of downtown, you're out of the the hustle and bustle during busy weekends, but close enough to enjoy restaurants, grocery stores, shops, and water sports with just a few minutes drive.brbrbrbrGetting Around:brbrWe suggest using your own vehicle to get around. Make sure you stay updated with road conditions. In the winter, 4WD/chains may be required by CHP.brbrbrbrOther Things to Note:brbrThis is a large cabin and a great space for families or couples traveling together. This is NOT the space for parties or large, loud gatherings of any kind. We have neighbors on both sides of the cabin, though there are no neighbors behind, allowing for amazing views off the back deck!brbrIn the winter, guests will likely need 4WD and/or tire chains to navigate the snowy/icy roads, even though they are plowed. The deck may not be available right after a snow storm (it will be covered in snow).brbrAll hiking trails, lake activities, etc., are done at your own risk. There are wild animals including bears, mountain lions, deer, and other animals that call Shaver Lake home. Access to the pool and spa during the summer, and large snowy areas during the winter, are just the icing on the cake. The pool and spa area are just across the street! Only 5 minutes from downtown Shaver Lake and 10 minutes to the lake, you're close enough to enjoy restaurants and activities, yet far enough away to relax on a busy weekend. This condo backs up to forest ground, so the deck faces beautiful towering evergreens and walking trails. Walk toward the main road to take advantage of the horseshoe pits, bbq area, and stream in Ockenden. Just a 30-minute drive to the Dinkey Creek swimming pools, wind surfing at Huntington Lake, and China Peak Ski Resort. About 45 minutes to fishing at Wishon and Courtright Reservoirs.brbrGetting Around:brWe suggest using your own vehicle to get around. Traveling in the winter 4 wheel drive and tire chains are strongly encouraged, and may be required by California Highway Patrol when there's snow in the forecast. The main road (Rockledge) is plowed, but we still suggest bringing a snow shovel and preparing to walk through snow if you're coming during a snowstorm.brbrOther Things to Note:brTwo Bears Basecamp is a condo in a gated community. We have neighbors that are full time residents, please follow the Bretz Mill Rules of no fires, no parties, and quiet hours begin at 10pm.brThe pool is seasonal- open only for the summer.
