Private Beach Access - Secluded, wildlife setting

Port Angeles, Washington, United States

The Fawn House is a delightful “tiny house” in the center of a very small, private salt water beach front community, surrounded by fields, forests, a creek, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The location, half way between Sequim and Port Angeles is at the end of a county road, where the wildlife habitat provides the perfect spot for the local deer herd to congregate. They rest on the lawn outside the home and feast on the fruit trees in the autumn months. You will see the new born “Bambi” fawns bounding up and down with glee during the spring season. They love this place, so any time of year is a good time to visit the Fawn House to watch the deer and other wildlife and birds that live all around this special spot.brThe private beach access trail is a hike that draws people to our location. It is a five to ten minute hike down and through the wildlife habitat conservation area which is a deep gulley down to the magical, rain forest like section of McDonnell Creek which borders our property to the east. The creek which begins up in the majestic Olympic Mountains ends here at the bottom of our beach trail. It forms a calm and quiet lagoon where birds, fish and wildlife like the busy river otter can be viewed. From there, the peaceful lagoon where the deer come to drink the fresh mountain water spills out on to the rugged, rough and rocky salt water beach strewn with driftwood and logs that the storms have brought in. Seals and a variety of sea birds can be seen as you hike the beach toward the famous Dungeness Spit to the east or toward Port Angeles to the west. You may want to just find a log to sit on and be mesmerized by the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and pulling the rocks back into the sea. The colorful ships passing through the shipping lanes between the U.S.A. and Canada are fun to see, as are the closer fishing vessels and sail boats. brIf the beach trail is too difficult for some, we have easier walking trails as well where look outs provide a perfect resting spot to enjoy the fantastic view and the colorful sunsets.brThe Fawn House sleeps two on the short, queen size bed in the bedroom and two more on the sleeper/sofa in the main living area. There is one bathroom having a shower with skylight overhead. The full size refrigerator, propane stove, microwave oven and small washer/dryer lend themselves to your comfortable stay. An electric fireplace adds evening ambiance and the basic cable T.V. that we offer will be there if you need a little entertainment besides the WIFI.brLinens, pillows, blankets and towels are all provided for your convenience. Dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans and kitchen utensils are there if you choose to prepare a simple meal. brIt is a twenty minute drive into either of the closest towns, both of which have numerous restaurant choices and grocery stores plus gift shops and other fun things to offer. If you need basic food items or you want to choose from a great wine selection, you will want to make the quick trip to the very near, neighborhood Agnew Grocery & Feed. They offer fun things to do and see such as farm animal viewing besides good groceries.brThe Olympic Discovery Trail is a mile away, where you can ride a bike through the area on what used to be the old railroad line.brbrThe Olympic National Park is a close drive from Port Angeles, up the mountain to Hurricane Ridge where on a clear day you will see spectacular, amazing views. There are many other places to go and sites to see in the area all within about an hour’s drive, such as crystal clear Lake Crescent and Sol Duc Hot Springs. For a day long trip further west, you can drive to the temperate Hoh Rain Forest and Pacific Ocean beaches and still return back to the snug and comfy Fawn House in the evening for a good night’s peaceful sleep.

Private beach access - located in a secluded community

Port Angeles, Washington, United States

The Gnome Home is one of the most recent additions to our small, private salt water community of rentals. It is located in a neighborhood called Agnew, which is half way between Sequim and Port Angeles, on the North Olympic Peninsula. Our location is very unique as we are one of very few properties having private access to the salt water beach. It is set apart and secluded by being found at the end of the county road where traffic stops and the deer, eagles and other wildlife choose to make their home within the special area bordered by the fields of the farm, the creek and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.brThe Gnome Home along with its tiny twin next door, the Fawn House, is the smallest of our rental choices. It is privately set back against a woodland lot having a winding nature trail through it leading to the unique, although challenging for some, spectacular beach trail, a five minute hike down through the wildlife habitat area which is a steep gulley along our section of the magical McDonnell Creek. The creek ends its journey from the top of the Olympic Mountains by forming a quiet lagoon at the base of the beach trail which is a wonderful wildlife spotting site for viewing playful river otter, fish and birds like the kingfishers and eagles. From there the lagoon spills on to the rocky salt water beach strewn with logs and driftwood where you can hike along the mostly uninhabited beach toward the world famous Dungeness Spit as you watch the ships pass through the shipping lanes between the U.S.A. and Canada. brWe offer other easier walking nature trails to explore as well, where you may want to sit and rest or watch the evening sunset and spectacular view.brThe Gnome Home sleeps two comfortably in the queen size bedroom and two more in the double size sleeper/sofa in the main living area. There is one bathroom with a shower, having a skylight overhead. The small laundry set, a full size refrigerator, propane stove and microwave oven all add to your convenient stay. An electric fireplace provides some cozy ambiance while you relax in the living room and watch basic cable T.V. or find entertainment with WIFI.brIt is fully equipped with dishes, glassware, pots, pans, utensils plus towels, blankets, pillows and linens.brIt is a twenty minute drive into either of the nearby towns, both of which have several choices for grocery shopping, restaurants and gift shops. brFor quick items or great wine choices, you would want to visit the nearby, neighborhood Agnew Grocery & Feed which has many other fun things to offer including farm animal viewing. The Olympic Discovery Trail is a mile away where you could ride a bike into either of the two towns and beyond on what used to be the old railroad line. brThe Olympic National Park is a close drive from Port Angeles, up the mountain to famous Hurricane Ridge. There are so many other special sites and hikes to see as well on the North Olympic Peninsula. When you are ready to venture out, many of the places you will want to visit such as the beautiful, clear blue Lake Crescent and the Sol Duc Hot Springs are within about an hour’s drive away. Even the temperate Hoh Rain Forest and Pacific Ocean beaches can be reached and enjoyed during a day’s trip from the cozy Gnome Home you will return to in the evening after your fantastic day long outing.
