The concert grand piano, the sauna, gas fireplace, and the huge 480 gallon Jacuzzi brand hot tub are just part of what make it so enjoyable. This spacious architect-designed residence was custom built to maximize the incredible 180 degree panoramic view from this property. And does it ever!brbrThe entire east side of the main level is primarily a wall of windows. From the kitchen, dining room, and living room you can enjoy a spectacular view that spans from Mt. Baker to Mr. Rainer. You will see the Cascade mountains, the city of Oak Harbor, the harbor itself, a good portion of Puget Sound, Saratoga Passage, and Penn Cove. Maylor’s Point, Camano Island, and much of South Whidbey Island are also on display. At night, the view is just as stellar. The city of Oak Harbor and all the neighboring territory from Camano Island to south Whidbey put on a sparkling light show for free, to say nothing of the moon as it appears in the sky and glimmers across the water. With such a magnificent view of the water, mountains, city, and neighboring territory, the view here is grand—day and night!brbrWhile you will never tire of the view, you will want to enjoy the rest of our home. Hungry On the main level is a gourmet kitchen full of dishes, pots, pans, cooking utensils, and newer appliances. There is a convection oven, smooth top stove, large side by side refrigerator/freezer, built-in microwave, and a quiet-as-can-be dishwasher. A comfortable breakfast bar seats 2-3 people should anybody just want to sit and have a quick bite. brbrThe nearby living room has a huge, vaulted open beam ceiling with exposed tongue and groove wood that serves the 7’ Baldwin concert grand piano extremely well. (What a great room for music!) We are the original owners of this incredibly powerful yet delicately nuanced instrument and have kept it tuned, regulated, and maintained religiously. This piano is worthy of the best pianists among us. Can’t play the piano There is an outstanding stereo system that highlights a classic audiophile set of M&K speakers with matching subwoofer that sound incredible!brbrThe lower level has a large family/TV room complete with a wet bar, small fridge, pellet stove, and 50” cable TV which is hooked into another great stereo system. Lots of CDs and DVD’s are also available. This room has a newer sleeper sofa. At the end of the room is a new gas fireplace that will keep you warm and cozy on any chilly day. The lower level also has a 4 person Nordic cedar sauna which can be operated wet (steam) or dry. brbrOutside on the covered patio is a huge 480 gallon J-375 Jacuzzi hot tub that accommodates 6 people, including one in a full chase-type lounge seat. This deluxe model has a built in radio and many lighting options, a waterfall, and comfortable built in head-rests, and easy opening cover lift that one person can open and close in a jiffy. Talk about relaxing, the 46 jets can be adjusted to just the perfect strength to provide a rejuvenating, relaxing, and pro-quality massage. Jacuzzi engineers even made sure to include jets for a foot massage! We leave the Jacuzzi in operation all 365 days of the year, but no matter when you use it, when you are done you will come out relaxed~brbrThe top level contains the master bedroom/bathroom and the “peak” bedroom. The master bedroom has a king Tempurpedic bed and high vaulted ceiling with a bank of floor to ceiling windows that provide a great view to the north that includes Mt. Baker. The master bath has both a shower and a jetted tub. The peak bedroom with its large vaulted ceiling looks out over the world from the highest point in our home. This room has two beds and is the favorite bedroom for anyone who likes to climb a ladder. Across from the single bed near the base of another bank of windows is a ladder that leads to the loft. Here you will find a cozy and comfortable double mattress bed on the carpet. This bed is the clear choice of younger family members, although a younger couple will find it as romantic as can be! The city lights are in full view when looking out the windows while tucked in bed.brbrIn addition to the gourmet kitchen, elegant living room, and a dining area which has six leather chairs and large travertine dining table, the main level has two well appointed bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a double bed. Both of these rooms have their own flat screen TV’s and DVD players. The laundry room and full bath complete with double sinks are located on this level. There are also extra folding tables that can be set up if 10 or 11 people want to dine at once. (We would put a folding table at the end of the travertine table and could seat 10 comfortably all at once. You can seat 11 but you might need to set up one or both of the folding tables separate from the dining table, or a couple of people can eat in the kitchen.)brbrOutside the main level on the east side of the house is a large deck with 8 chairs. At the end of the deck is a large round table for six and area suitable for dining should the weather be warm. The view from the deck is truly magnificent and eating in the open air makes the food taste just a little better. brbrNo matter the time of year, the Harbor View Grand is an exceptional place to stay. There are no curtains, just windows galore which makes this home bright and airy no matter the weather outside. A good storm is an event not to be missed when looking out our main windows, the high vaulted ceilings allow you to hear the soothing sound of the rain as it pitterpats away on the roof. brbrThe Harbor View Grand is centrally located high atop a hill in Oak Harbor just minutes from restaurants, shopping, public beaches, a wonderful public indoor swimming pool, Deception Pass State Park, and Deception Pass Bridge. Just 12 minutes from the Harbor View Grand, the Deception Pass park and bridge are scenic beyond words (its the most visited state park in Washington State) and a person can spend hours walking the beach and the wooded trails along the ocean. Five minutes away is NAS Whidbey Island. From our home you can drive to the San Juan Islands ferry in 30 minutes and to the Olympic Peninsula ferry in just 20 minutes. When based at the Harbor View Grand, you can explore all of Whidbey Island—its many parks, beaches, shopping, and dining—and never be more than an hour away. The house is in a perfect location to enjoy all Whidbey Island has to offer. 20 minutes to the north is Deception Pass State Park, an iconic attraction on the Island and the most visited state park in Washington. 10 minutes to the east is Oak Harbor, the Island's largest city with restaurants, bars, grocery shopping and essentials. 15 minutes to the south is Coupeville, a historic waterfront town with rich history, restaurants, galleries and shopping.brbrThis is a single level home with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each bedroom has a queen bed. Living room has a 3rd queen bed (pull out sofa bed). It's about 1056 sqft, and one step to entry.brbrA large deck with a hot tub facing the ocean provides great relaxation. Outdoor dining space & BBQ grill are also available. NOTE: due to sand buildup in the area, the backyard no longer has adequately high fence and so the backyard is NOT fenced. We provide a dog tie so you can still bring your pet outside but PLEASE supervise your pet and children while in the backyard since the home is on a cliff. The front yard and back yard is basically like a sandy beach due to all the sand buildup. Please note that when it is windy the wind will blow sand and may cover the pavements and driveway in a matter of minutes. This also means that the windows get easily dirty. Our housekeeping team does their very best to clean the windows so you have a clear view of the ocean but is impossible to be perfect due to the wind blowing the sand around. In addition, we have dedicated hot tub cleaning team to clean, balance and vacuum sand in the hot tub after every guest stay. However, please note that even after doing so, there will still be sand in the hot tub as the sand is in the filters. The Deception Pass Getaway is a privately owned 1300 square foot, two story, three bedroom, 1 and 3/4 bath level sandy beach West side waterfront vacation home. The vast views of Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, snow capped Olympic Mountains and spectacular sunsets are just amazing! brbrThe abundance of wildlife, including resident eagles surround you on a daily basis. For beachcombers and explorers it is an ever changing delight, with plenty of agates to find. Deception Pass State Park is a short hike down the beach. brbrRoasting marshmallows around the huge fire-pit while listening to the waves crashing on the beach, makes for a very relaxing vacation. brbrFor the avid fisherman, make sure to bring your gear. You can fish for salmon and flounder right from your own private beach, directly in front of the house.brbrThis great beach house is situated on the top of a natural extended sand berm. The house sits back from the shoreline about 150’ and has a nice size yard in between the home and the beach. The property supports old growth trees, natural vegetation, sea grass and sand dunes bordered with layers of driftwood .brbrThe main level interior of the home gives you that great beach house feel with the knotty pine walls and large brick fireplace. The entire upstairs is the Master Suite, which was added onto the home in 1978. Then in 2005 the Master bathroom was updated and a lovely deep soaking tub was installed. There is a newer king bed in the upstairs master suite, and queen beds in each of the two main level bedrooms. Other amenities include a dishwasher, microwave, propane fireplace, and washer & dryer. brbrThe home is located in between NAS Whidbey and Deception Pass and is a short drive to historic La Conner and Anacortes, gateway to the San Juan Islands. Situated at the end of a dead end street, the only traffic to speak of is an occasional low flying aircraft from the Navy base.brbrCranberry Lake, and Deception Pass State Park, are just a short distance North down the beach if you are up for doing some hiking or fishing on Cranberry Lake. For those of you who are into mountain biking, there are great trails at Hoypus Point to ride on nearby.brbrYou can see NAS Whidbey to the South, and will incur some jet noise during flight practice. Most kids and some adults really enjoy watching the planes fly overhead, and think of it as 'The Sound of Freedom'. brbrOn nearby Fidalgo Island there is even more to explore at Pass Lake, which is known to be excellent for fly fishing. Finches, quail, doves, towhees, sparrows, flickers, woodpeckers and hummingbirds (just to name a few) abound. Unveiling a stunning view of the Olympic Mountain range, strait of Juan de Fuca, the San Juan Islands, endless miles of beach and ocean water views. brOur home was built with only one theme in mind…the view. The window canvas allows you to take in all the sights and the natural beauty of the wildlife visiting the beach or swimming in the ocean. The bald eagles, cranes, and otters will greet you throughout the day, but they are especially playful in the morning. brWake up to the sound of the waves, and the water hitting the rocks. Relax on the front porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine as you listen to the ocean glide across the beach. Depending on the time you visit, you will be visited by a beautiful sandy beach you can walk miles on. brThe deck is new and has several chairs and a loveseat to enjoy your wine, beer, coffee, tea or water and watch the waves and sea life!brIf you love to hike (the entrance to Joseph Whidbey State Park is visible from our driveway), golf (literally minutes away), or hope to find some fun eateries and other beaches and forts, there are several locations to choose from throughout the island!brThis small kitchen has everything you need to cook and dine, while enjoying the views from every corner of the great room. br• We provide a Brita water filter pitcher but I encourage you to bring water and ice to use. I love it and have used it often for groceries, and restaurant drops! brIn Oak Harbor, not more than a ten-minute drive is Safeway, Walmart, Whidbey Coffee, most basic shops, and the Commissary and NEX if you have military privileges. They will check for military ID to be allowed on the Oak Harbor base in there in the city. The same is true for the base on your way when driving from Deception Pass. The two drive in coffee stands, at the entrance to the big base, and in sight of each other, but both are both very good! brSpeaking of forgetting anything... br• We have a Forgot Something basket in the bathroom in case some basic items are not packed, you need ear plugs to sleep, or other personal hygiene products and sewing kits for the unexpected. br• We supply toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, towels, makeup washcloths, all kitchen towels, kitchen washcloths, fresh sponge, paper towels, Dawn dish soap and hand soap in both the kitchen and bathroom.br• We supply you with a hair dryer and assorted curling irons and flat iron.br• We also have an iron, steamer, and ironing board. br• Each bedroom has a full-length mirror. br• There are choices for cleaning products under the kitchen sink and in the bathroom. br• There is a first aid kit in the bathroom under the right-side cabinet and two fire extinguishers. br• For accidents and spills we provide you with a little Green Machine carpet and furniture cleaner.br• There is a vacuum and Swiffer mop if needed. brRestaurants can be found throughout the island. In fact speckled throughout the island are fun and fabulous food eateries, pubs, and bars. brBeautiful Deception Pass is less than 10 minutes in the other direction and a site worth visiting. Throughout the island there are fun towns, each with their own personality, cuisine and shops. You will also find miles of trails and stunning views. All of Whidbey Island provides many ways to find new adventures!brDon't be surprised when our local eagle and his girl swoop and fly by! They like to stay a couple doors down! There is of course a plethora of sea birds, sea otters, and occasional Orcas who pass by in the Straight! br• It is such a joy and we do keep a couple binoculars on hand for you to search the San Juan waters, we provide kid sized binoculars too! brThe Pacific Northwest does have its rainy days, but no worries, in our great room cabinets, we have: br• Fun board games for family night games, rock painting kits, puzzles, books, watercolors, crayons, and paper to make the most of a gray rainy day! br• I must be honest, the stormy days are also one of my favorite moments to watch the beach, the power of the waves, and the crazy kite surfers who venture out to take advantage of the wind!brWe installed solar lights to help brighten your path if you arrive in the dark.brWe have keypads on both doors to allow easy access when arriving.
