Located on Cowpens, a small private island accessible by causeway, the house offers stunning views of marsh, creek and the Atlantic Ocean. brbrThe island itself, with fifteen homes including ours, is situated just behind Edingsville Beach, an uninhabited barrier beach just north of Edisto Beach. The setting is secluded, relaxing, and peaceful.brbrOur home is designed to maximize enjoyment of its beautiful marsh and ocean views and abundant wildlife. The main level has an open floor plan with living area, dining room, kitchen, and master suite. In the summer you may enjoy the cool ocean breezes, or if you prefer, the air conditioning. In the colder months, the fireplace adds to the cozy comfort provided by central heating. brbrLarge picture windows across the front and front-sides of the house provide unobstructed views of the ocean, creek and marshes. The outside deck provides a perfect seating area to enjoy the afternoon sea breezes while you watch the pelicans, great blue herons, egrets, wood storks and other shore birds fly overhead or feed in the marsh grasses a few feet away.brbrThe back screened porch provides for panoramic views of the beautiful creek, marsh and gorgeous sunsets while you enjoy the peace and quiet. The additional fireplace on the porch provides the luxury of a cozy fire to gather 'round on chilly afternoons or evenings with friends and family, even when it's raining outside!br brThe master suite offers a large bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a deck overlooking the creek, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. There are two bedrooms upstairs. One has a double bed and a small deck overlooking the creek and marsh. The other bedroom has a double and a single bed which is perfect for families with young children. There is also a fold-up cot for an additional guest. brbrA covered fixed pier with floating dock is on the creek behind the house. The dock provides additional 360-degree marsh/creek views and access to the creek for small boats (kayaks, jon boats, etc.), crabbing, fishing, and swimming, This is a wonderful swimming 'hole' and great for lazy afternoons spent relaxing in and on the water. There's a hammock to enjoy the breezes while you read or nap --- the perfect way to while away the hours on vacation.brbrThe creek is navigable for small boats even at dead low tide (about 2 feet of water at the dock at low tide), and provides easy access to Edingsville Beach, Botany Bay Beach, and Frampton Inlet. (OWNER SOMETIMES CAN ASSIST WITH LAUNCHING AND SECURING YOUR BOAT AT OWNER DOCK) Edingsville Beach has historic significance because it was the established beach community in the 1800's for the Edisto Island plantation owners until it was completely destroyed by the hurricane of 1893. brbrFor the serious beachcomber, pieces of fine china and old wine bottles from the old Edingsville community can still be found on this beach today. Both Edingsville and Botany Bay Beaches are literally covered with numerous seashells and fossils, including sharks' teeth, and these beaches are prime locations for swimming, walking, sunning, and surf fishing. It is requested by creek property owners that jet skis not be used on the creek.brbrIn addition to boat access to Edingsville Beach, one can walk or bike from our home to the beach which is a distance of about a half mile through a private residential development. Come enjoy low county, SC living at it finest on Edisto Island for your stay. This spacious 2600 sq foot house that was built in 2022. With 4 beds 3 1/2 baths it is in one of the best neighborhoods on Edisto island. The Hammocks, just mins from Beach, you are sure to enjoy bird watching with marsh in front and back of house, listen to the waves crashing just a few hundred yards away or just enjoy the huge live oaks and abundance of palm trees from 800 sqft of porches. brThe spacebrWalking up the stairs from underneath the house you walk into the kitchen/living room. There is a very large granite countertop with seating for 3. Also in kitchen is a built in convection oven, dishwasher, side by side fridge and a gorgeous farmhouse sink. Toward front of the house is a dining table that will seat 8. Across the room is a couch and loveseat with antique lobster trap for a coffee table. Walking toward the back of house passing a half-bath is a butler’s pantry with a smaller fridge for extra space. Then walking into the first of 2 master suites, there is a king bed. There is a seperate french door entrance to the porch along with tv with dish network. Into the first master Bath there is a shower, tub and double vanity with toilet room. Walking up stairs you will find a multi Cade Video game across from a small futon on loft leading to the outside upper porch. Also on second floor there are 3 bedrooms. One bedroom has bunk beds that will sleep 4 kids if you use the pull out trundle. There is also a toddler bed in this room to use as needed. Additionally, There is a mattress in master closet upstairs that you can put on the floor if you have someone that may fall off or if you need an additional bed. Another bedroom has two twin beds and the last one is the second master that has two full beds and tv. A bathroom with shower and double vanity is connected. Another full bath with tub is upstairs for use by other 2 bedroom occupants. There is also a futon mattress in the upstairs master closet that can be put in the loft as needed extra sleeping space.brHome has a whole house RO system for clean salt free water. brThere is a bedswing on the front porch. You will find plenty of seating and a tv on the side porch, but with the views of the scenery from the porch you won’t be watching much tv-outside anyway.brbrThere is a gas grill and corn hole boards under house as well as a fire pit by the marsh. You will find a toy box under the house that has a few toys that can be used as desired for fun in the sand. Additionally right inside the door leading to the kitchen you should see boogie boards to also use as desired at the beach. I have 3 kayaks that can be used also 2-10ft’s and 1 child 8ft. You will find the paddles and life jackets in storage room. There is a community dock you can walk to or drop off kayaks to on the creek that goes all the way to ocean. I have had dolphins swim up to me in creek. Please do not park at dock. Please note: if you use the kayaks be careful. When you rent the house you are releasing me of any liability of using the kayaks or anything else around the house. brEven though we don’t have direct beach access, we do have a small view of the ocean from the front porch. We have provided state park passes for 2 vehicles to get your family into the state park free of charge. If you ever walk down to Jeremy inlet from the state park, about half way through the walk, you can look to the left and see the upper section of house from.brThere is a cleaning fee of $300 that will automatically be added as we are providing all towels, cloths and Linens. They have to be washed and cleaned every time. I reserve the right to change the price anytime if the costs change to me, but of course when you book, the cleaning fee is locked in.brbrI do allow up to 2 canine pets(possibly more with approval) but they must be clean, house broken, non shedding and friendly. Pets can not stay outside due to hoa. There is plenty of essentials like towels, toilet paper, pods for dishwasher, detergent, dryer sheets on hand.brThe kitchen is fully stocked with all you will need. There is mattress protectors on beds along with sheets and comforters. There is pillows on hand but if you are like me you may want to bring your own. There is also plenty of towels and washcloths. Ideally the idea is just bring your personal belongings, clothes, your preference on soap and shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, beach towels, toys, and enjoy your stay.brbrThere is also a ironing board, and iron on handbrbrSafety concerns- If you have children, or anyone for that matter please watch and do not climb on rails. The house is very high and there is rails everywhere, I am not responsible if something happens. The front steps can get a little slick if they are wet. Generally though you will be using the steps that come up through middle of house.brbrThere’s a 10pm noice ordinance for neighborhood so no partying, music and so forth outside after 10pm- Be considerate!brAlso please don’t leave lights on under house when not in use. They are very bright and I try not to disturb the wildlife anymore then I have to.

Chaika House was made for families and friends who want to enjoy a coastal getaway. Each wing has two bedrooms and a full bath, providing some separation if two families are sharing the space. The central part of the house features an open plan with a large, well-furnished kitchen (remodeled in 2021), dining area, and living room, so no one is excluded. A sliding door extends that space to a glassed-in porch. The Live Oak in the front provides a lovely and secluded view out the porch windows.brThe house has no immediate neighbors and the Live Oak that gives it a secluded feel, but is only a 7-minute walk to the ocean. There is a open field next to the house that frequently is visited by deer. We keep it amply, but simply furnished to keep it comfortable, affordable, and a cottage feel.brDue to our need to keep full occupancy in the peak season, we had to choose the firm cancellation policy. However, our practice is to be flexible. If we are able to replace a canceled booking for the same amount, we will happily refund the full amount. brPlease be sure to read the full description and review the rental agreement. Located at the point of a 100 foot wide gated private island, the house was built in 1986 and, as the name implies and the pictures show, is shaped like a pyramid. No where else in the State of South Carolina is there available for rent a home with the surroundings, privacy and the unspoiled view afforded by Pyramid Pointe. You will need binoculars to see any other home or person from the interior, decks or porch. No one will walk or drive by. During the busiest season you will share 2 miles of beach with 30 people and the rest of the year, often, with no one.brbr The home is four stories in height from ground level. It was nestled into the natural environment without cutting any trees and built over a pre civil war cistern. There are 3 bedrooms. The MBR and a full bath occupy the entire top level and is furnished with a king bed. A small deck faces the ocean.brbr The third level has two bedrooms, each with their own full bath One bedroom has a deck facing the ocean and a king bed, the other has two full beds and a third in the closet.brbr There is a queen sleeper sofa in the TV area on the main level. A Large deck is accessed from the sitting area and faces the ocean. There is a full bath on the first level, a medium kitchen and a large dining area. A 35 foot covered porch overlooks the Creek and the entire front of the house is glass, facing the ocean. Screens on the porch and decks are not necessary because the bugs don't come there, the height and full time breeze keep them away.brbr The entry and foyer are paved with bricks harvested from the beach over the years from the homes of the Edingsville settlement destroyed by a hurricane in the 1800’s. You will see a map of the island as it existed at that time as you climb the stairs to the second living level. From the entryway level you can see up the stairwell all the way to the fourth floor.brbr The first level contains the TV sitting area (42” plasma) , the den and a spacious dining room which is separated from the kitchen by a long bar. The bar and dining room table were made from lumber scavenged also from the old Edingsville settlement. The mantle, side table and coffee table are made from driftwood taken from the beach. The covered porch is accessed from the dining room and faces north towards the creek and Frampton inlet. brbr The covered porch has a hanging swing and two rocking chairs as well as a built in dining table and chairs. A cable rail system is used to minimize disruption of the view. brbrThe home has over 600 square feet of windows, almost all facing the ocean. It is constructed of cedar, inside and out. The furnishings are functional, not fancy. It is a beach house designed and furnished for relaxing and carefree use, not a home where you have to shower before sitting down.brbrAn infrared grill and indoor fryer are provided and the kitchen has all normal appliances and conveniences.br brIt is 3 flights of stairs from the entry door to the master bedroom, 2 to the second floor bedrooms and 1 to the main living level (as with all houses on Edisto). There is a widow’s walk on the roof which is presently unavailable to first time guests.brbrNo long walkway is needed as the dock is 30 feet from the porch. The front of the house is less than 5 feet from the marsh (the decks overhang it) and the porch side about 20 feet. Dolphins are often first spotted by someone washing dishes in the kitchen. brbrA washer and dryer are in the mechanical room on ground level.brbrSatellite TV is available downstairs and in the MBR. Each TV has a DVD player. There are no video game machines. Wireless broadband Internet is provided but we are at the “end of the line” and service can be sporadic. There is no land line phone service but At&T and Sprint service is very good and Verizon is tolerable.brbrThis is a traditional low country beach house. A beach house, not a home, just a place to stay so you can be in a place where no one else is. It is an architecturally unique, pleasant, comfortable and relaxing home designed to allow maximum enjoyment of the surroundings. You go to a place like this to be outdoors, not in. If you are expecting a home nicer than, or even as nice, as your own then this home will not be suitable for you. It was located here as a means to an end, not the destination itself. The home provides a place from which you can enjoy privacy, nature and the beauty of the natural surroundings. It is not intended to be, nor is it, at all like a beach house in a row of beach houses with manicured lawns lined up in a development. If you love the outdoors, peace and privacy and are willing to give up some comfort to get them, this home will be perfect for you.brbrEdingsville is technically an island contained within Edisto Island. Edisto has retained the laid back charm that all of the South Carolina beaches once enjoyed. The lack of large scale commercial development, McDonalds, Burger Kings and Wal-Mart’s sets Edisto apart from all other beach resorts in South CarolinabrbrThere is a two mile undeveloped beach seen from every part of the house. It is an easy walk or bike ride of approximately 1/2 mile to the beach along private gated roads. If you rented or brought your own kayaks/canoes it is just a couple hundred yards to a beach where you will likely find yourself the only one there.brbrThe house is surrounded 320 degrees by marsh and tidal creeks. Wildlife abounds here. Egrets, gulls, and fiddler crabs are the most obvious but many more fish, crabs and exotic creatures thrive here. It is the “nursery” of the ocean where young are bred and mature before setting out to sea. brbrTHE BOTTOM LINE. Sometimes it was so hot you would pull the mattresses out on the porch overlooking the ocean and sleep. It was just like sleeping right on the beach but much softer. Hearing the ocean waves hitting the beach at night was so relaxing. The Ravissant still has that rustic charm you’d experience way back when, but with modern updates like washer & dryer, heat and air & WiFi. brbrTwo spacious covered porches are the perfect place for hanging out after a long beach day and sipping on some sweet tea. In addition to the spacious porches and uniqueness of the interiors, the old charm of this historic home will encapsulate you and your family like many before you while you develop your own beach memories! The current owner’s are only the second family and have owned The Ravissant 47 years now and have raised children and grandchildren with many fun summers getting together “at the beach” year after year. brbrThis home is perfect for family & extended family.
