This listing actually includes the use of 2 lakefront homes: a large and beautifully-updated 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home on the hill up from the beach and also a smaller and more rustic 2-bedroom, 1-bath beach house that is right on the beach on Lake Huron! Includes window / portable A/C units. Great for multiple families or multiple generations to spend time together while still having some personal private space!brbrbrINTERACTION WITH GUESTS:brbrWe have a local property manager that lives in the area and is available to address any issues that may arise.brbrbrNEIGHBORHOOD:brbrThe home is in a high-end residential district along Lake Huron. Most of the homes in the neighborhood are vacation homes for professional families.brbrThe home is just 0.3 miles south of where the Au Gres River flows into Lake Huron. The bridge on US-23 that goes over the river, The Singing Bridge, is quite famous and there is a public park at the bridge where the river flows into Lake Huron. The name of the bridge comes from the decking that was in place on the bridge years ago. As cars would go over the bridge, the decking would hum. In the past, the river was also very popular for smelt dipping in the spring. It is a lovely 0.3 mile walk along the Lake Huron beach up to the park and the mouth of the Au Gres River.brbrJust a bit further north is wonderful downtown East Tawas, which is only 11.4 miles north of the property. Downtown East Tawas has a great collection of shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, a marina, and a movie theater. During the summer they close down the main street and have live music on Tuesday nights, which is a lot of fun! We would particularly recommend visiting The Village Chocolatier for chocolates and having breakfast at The Lazy Toaster.brbrThe entire area is famous for fishing, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, and nature viewing and there are a number of different places in the area for these activities. There are also several places in the area that rent out boats, kayaks, and paddleboards for fun on the water if you don't have your own watercraft.brbrbrbrbrGUEST ACCESS:brbrGuests have access to the entirety of both houses, except for an owners' closet in the larger house. The detached garage next to the larger house is also not available for guest usage.brbrbrTHE SPACE:brbrThe larger home has been recently updated and is gorgeous inside! It features 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and the two main floor bedrooms each have their own en suite private bathroom! Also, the fourth bedroom is very large and basically has its own living area including a sectional sofa, television, and desk along with the two twin beds. This makes for a great area for kids, teenagers, and/or young adults to hang out! The larger home also includes a main floor stacked washer and dryer, Wi-Fi, streaming television, and a large backyard deck with outdoor dining furniture and a gas grill. In terms of air conditioning, the home does NOT have central air conditioning, but there is a portable A/C unit in the living room, a window A/C unit in one of the bedrooms, and a window A/C unit in the upstairs living area.brbrIn between the two homes is a large backyard lawn, which is great for kids to play on! There is also a basketball hoop at the end of the driveway and basketballs and other outdoor kids toys are available for use.brbrDown basically right on the beach is the older and more rustic beach house. The house is less than 30 feet from the edge of the water! It has a private seawall with stairs going down to the beach and the lake. The beach house has its own full kitchen (just without a dishwasher), dining table, and beds for up to 4 additional people, so it also provides for a great space for a second family, additional family members, and/or teenagers and young adults to hang out. It also has its own beachfront deck, beachfront swing, and fire pit for great bonfires right next to the beach! There is also a window A/C unit in the bedroom. The lake views from the beach house are fantastic and there is generally a wonderfully cool breeze on the beach. PLEASE DO NOTE THAT THE BEACH HOUSE IS QUITE RUSTIC THOUGH. Not all of the windows go up, some of the screens are damaged, and there is somewhat of a musty smell in the house. Hopefully, this is not a big issue, but, if it is, then we would advise guests to only use the newer, larger, and nicer house on the hill or else book elsewhere.brbrbrTRANSIT:brbrIt is highly recommended that guests have their own means of transportation.brbrbrPLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:brbr1) BEDROOMS: The sixth bedroom (the second bedroom in the smaller beach house) does not have a private door to it. It is open to the rest of the house.brbr2) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Although we allow up to 10 guests in total, there is a limit of a maximum of 8 adults. Please also note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Every great once in a while you find yourself in a vacation rental that truly feels like a home.brbrWe’ve worked hard to bring that experience to our guests. As you walk up to the door, you pass our well tended flower bed. Once inside the feeling of being at home hits you, from the living room where you can sink into the furniture and enjoy a movie on a 75” smart TV, to the comfortable beds with upscale pillows, to having a family meal at our large dining room table. There is a rec room were kids can hang out and watch their own 55” Smart TV, then sleep in one of the two Murphy beds.brbrAs a cook, I’ve worked hard to equip the kitchen with nearly everything you might need. When I travel, I’ve found so many disappointing kitchens. Here we have more than salt, pepper and garlic salt, we have a full range of herbs and spices for you to create the meal of your dreams! The pots and pans are no thrift store find. In October we went with a new set of Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware. I’ve used the same cookware myself and it is a dream to cook on. There is a a toaster, blender, mixer, crock pot, electric griddle, and even an air fryer. There is also bake ware and a range of cooking utensils.brbrFor business travelers we have an office nook in the rec room with 2 desks and even a color multi function laser printer. Of course we have high speed WiFi that reaches every room in the house. If you don’t feel like being chained to a desk to do remote work, the WiFi is strong on the back porch, but the distraction of the lake view might make you a little less productive.brbrOh yes, I should speak about the lake. From the porch and windows on the back side of the house you have a view of our quiet little cove on Lake Bowen. Walk through the back yard past the fire ring and you arrive at more seating at the lake where you can enjoy a drink and listen to the sounds of the frogs from early spring to late summer. Walk just a little further and you find yourself on a dock. When the water is warm enough, you can swim right from the dock, but no diving, the lake is not deep in this cove.brbrWe have several kayaks to share with our guests. Our insurance company does require a signed waiver to use them, but that can be done quickly online. There are four 10 foot kayaks, two 10 foot fishing kayaks, two 10 foot tandem kayaks, and even two youth kayaks.brbrIf you have your own boat, you are welcome to bring it. Just be aware that you will have to register it at Anchor Park, about a mile from the house. If you are coming from out of state, you might consider renting a pontoon boat instead as out of state registration is pricey. Registration for non powered boats, be it a kayak, paddleboard, or even a small sailboat (you will have to take the mast down to get under the bridge) is reasonable even for out of state boats.brbrWe hope you come down and enjoy all we have to offer!brbrWe do have a required pet fee of $50 and accept up to 2 dogs.
