Located at the point of a 100 foot wide gated private island, the house was built in 1986 and, as the name implies and the pictures show, is shaped like a pyramid. No where else in the State of South Carolina is there available for rent a home with the surroundings, privacy and the unspoiled view afforded by Pyramid Pointe. You will need binoculars to see any other home or person from the interior, decks or porch. No one will walk or drive by. During the busiest season you will share 2 milesof beach with 30 people and the rest of the year, often, with no one.

The home is four stories in height from ground level. It was nestled into the natural environment without cutting any trees and built over a pre civil war cistern. There are 3 bedrooms. The MBR and a full bath occupy the entire top level and is furnished with a king bed. A small deck faces the ocean.

The third level has two bedrooms, each with their own full bath One bedroom has a deck facing the ocean and a king bed, the other has two full beds and a third in the closet.

There is a queen sleeper sofa in the TV area on the main level. A Large deck is accessed from the sitting area and faces the ocean. There is a full bath on the first level, a medium kitchen and a large dining area. A 35 foot covered porch overlooks the Creek and the entire front of the house is glass, facing the ocean. Screens on the porch and decks are not necessary because the bugs don't come there, the height and full time breeze keep them away.

The entry and foyer are paved with bricks harvested from the beach over the years from the homes of the Edingsville settlement destroyed by a hurricane in the 1800’s. You will see a map of the island as it existed at that time as you climb the stairs to the second living level. From the entryway level you can see up the stairwell all the way to the fourth floor.

The first level contains the TV sitting area (42” plasma) , the den and a spacious dining room which is separated from the kitchen by a long bar. The bar and dining room table were made from lumber scavenged also from the old Edingsville settlement. The mantle, side table and coffee table are made from driftwood taken from the beach. The covered porch is accessed from the dining room and faces north towards the creek and Frampton inlet.

The covered porch has a hanging swing and two rocking chairs as well as a built in dining table and chairs. A cable rail system is used to minimize disruption of the view.

The home has over 600 square feet of windows, almost all facing the ocean. It is constructed of cedar, inside and out. The furnishings are functional, not fancy. It is a beach house designed and furnished for relaxing and carefree use, not a home where you have to shower before sitting down.

An infrared grill and indoor fryer are provided and the kitchen has all normal appliances and conveniences.

It is 3 flights of stairs from the entry door to the master bedroom, 2 to the second floor bedrooms and 1 to the main living level (as with all houses on Edisto). There is a widow’s walk on the roof which is presently unavailable to first time guests.

No long walkway is needed as the dock is 30 feet from the porch. The front of the house is less than 5 feet from the marsh (the decks overhang it) and the porch side about 20 feet. Dolphins are often first spotted by someone washing dishes in the kitchen.

A washer and dryer are in the mechanical room on ground level.

Satellite TV is available downstairs and in the MBR. Each TV has a DVD player. There are no video game machines. Wireless broadband Internet is provided but we are at the “end of the line” and service can be sporadic. There is no land line phone service but At&T and Sprint service is very good and Verizon is tolerable.

This is a traditional low country beach house. A beach house, not a home, just a place to stay so you can be in a place where no one else is. It is an architecturally unique, pleasant, comfortable and relaxing home designed to allow maximum enjoyment of the surroundings. You go to a place like this to be outdoors, not in. If you are expecting a home nicer than, or even as nice, as your own then this home will not be suitable for you. It was located here as a means to an end, not the destination itself. The home provides a place from which you can enjoy privacy, nature and the beauty of the natural surroundings. It is not intended to be, nor is it, at all like a beach house in a row of beach houses with manicured lawns lined up in a development. If you love the outdoors, peace and privacy and are willing to give up some comfort to get them, this home will be perfect for you.

Edingsville is technically an island contained within Edisto Island. Edisto has retained the laid back charm that all of the South Carolina beaches once enjoyed. The lack of large scale commercial development, McDonalds, Burger Kings and Wal-Mart’s sets Edisto apart from all other beach resorts in South Carolina

There is a two mile undeveloped beach seen from every part of the house. It is an easy walk or bike ride of approximately 1/2 mile to the beach along private gated roads. If you rented or brought your own kayaks/canoes it is just a couple hundred yards to a beach where you will likely find yourself the only one there.

The house is surrounded 320 degrees by marsh and tidal creeks. Wildlife abounds here. Egrets, gulls, and fiddler crabs are the most obvious but many more fish, crabs and exotic creatures thrive here. It is the “nursery” of the ocean where young are bred and mature before setting out to sea.

THE BOTTOM LINE. If you are looking for a beautiful home surrounded by other beautiful homes within walking distance of a beach full of other people, then rent a home at Kiawah. If you are looking for a place to stay so you can be in a beautiful place, then this home will serve your needs nicely.

The house is in disrepair and was very dirty when we arrived. To the point that we packed back up and drove back home. When the owner was contacted he told us it had been professionally cleaned the day before and would not allow a refund.

Incredible view with dolphins coming up past the dock, glorious light and abundant wildlife. absolutely peaceful and a wonderful place to paddle from and walk. Unfortunately, longer beach walks can be difficult at higher tides due to a seawall.

The property this home is on is gorgeous, although not maintained. Upon arrival the lock box had no key. The owner said the previous guest took it accidentally, the house is open and to be sure to leave it that way all week. I thought that was odd, but no big deal. As we walk in the plastic covers over the lights are hanging down and in the living room, water pouring out of the ceiling onto the floor. Large mixing bowls set on the floor overflowing with water. It’s HOT inside so I check the thermostat, it reads 84 degrees and “call for service “. I message the host and am told yes, he’s aware and has a call out to a repairman but it’s a small island, not sure when he’ll get out. The last time this happened the hose was clogged, it was suggested to have my husband remove the AC unit cover and stick his finger in the hose to unclog it. The house is more than rustic. It is in disrepair. There is water damage throughout, rust, broken tiles, broken toilets, stained mattresses and clogged sinks. We drove twelve hours, arrived Sat evening and went home Mon at 5 am, that’s how bad it was. We really tried to tough it out but it was too hot in the house for my parents. I am not a picky person, in fact I’m pretty laid back. I’m a RN and I worked really hard to save the money to bring my daughter and my elderly parents on this trip. Every scenario is covered in the agreement, including if heat/ac goes out, host is a lawyer and won’t reimburse. Think twice before renting !

Property is located on the marsh creek with kayak access to the beach. Beautiful views! Property is rustic, but accurately advertised by owner, but there are a few hazards to be aware of, soft spots in the decks and wobbly porch railings, so don't turn the toddlers loose but kids that are used to some wilderness should have a blast. This isn't luxury, think fish camp. Plenty of kayaks and gear, but bring your own fishing rod if you plan to fish. There are crab traps though. Lots of wildlife, kayaked with the dolphins, and gorgeous rainbow views over the marsh.

A unique & comfortable place to stay, private location (within a safe & well-kept neighborhood) and all the space to breathe, think, wonder and dream... with nature right beside you! Kayak straight from the dock, take an easy walk to the beach, or enjoy a breezy porch swing where you can Just Be. Randall's descriptions are spot on and his communication is quick. Come here to stay in touch with yourself & the natural world around you!

The owner and all the renter reviews do an excellent job of describing this unique vacation home. Take the time to read everything as while this place was five stars for my husband and me, it isn’t for everyone. The owners description does a fine job of explaining that. Whoever built this home was not your average contractor. He or she put a lot of thought into its layout. I really enjoyed finding all the ways triangles and other geometric shapes were incorporated into the design. Early surveyors only had triangulation to map coasts and it was very important in mapping the coast from Charleston to St. Helena’s Sound. I felt like this house paid homage to that.

Nature at its best! Although the house is “very rustic”, the views are worth the stay! We encountered porpoises in the creek, eagle, horseshoe crab, raccoon, and spotted an eagle. Dreamy sleeping on forth level and waking up to a gorgeous sunrise. Hated to leave!

Amazing place to stay if you like to kayak, crab and fish! The sunrises/sunsets were amazing and we saw the dolphins in the creek. Highly recommend kayaking over to the beach, there are so many seashells and my mom found an enormous shark tooth! We even kayaked the long route to the inlet. It is a bit long of a walk to the beach if you have trouble with your legs or are out of shape. Place could definitely use a deep clean coming from we who aren't too picky. This is more like a fisherman's cabin than a beach house, I have friends who would NOT stay here, listing description is accurate! The location is amazing and we all agreed that we would love to come back. Host was very responsive!

Third time staying here and it won’t be the last. This is not your pastel pristine beach house. This is a well loved home to relax in after a day spent shelling, biking, boating and just enjoying the beauty of Edisto. Wake up early to watch the sunrise. Incredible!

Overall this is a magically peaceful place. Description is accurate. We loved the dolphins in the creek, the views, all the types of shore birds and Pelicans. We even saw sea turtles in the ocean! We paddled to Botany Bay on our paddle boards. The nature is unbeatable. The house was clean, but there were rodents living in the walls/ceiling that would run around and wake us up at night. There was also a strong rodent smell that did seem to get better or we got used to it over time. The AC did not work on the top king-bed bedroom, which we did not need. But if you are planning on using that in the summer you may want to ask about it first. One bathroom has been newly renovated and was our preferred bathroom to use. Otherwise the beauty of the place makes up for the downsides. Also a tip- the ocean has a lot of old oyster beds and some mud in this area. Solid water shoes or old tennis shoes would be good for ocean swimming. Overall if you love nature and solitude this place is wonderful at least once in your life.
