Outside, you will sit at the base of a tree-filled mountain by a fire pit or around a picnic table with plenty of grassy space for outdoor games. There is heat, a TV and Internet access. No land line but there is Wi Fi. brbrFor SPRING, SUMMER or our beautiful leaves in the FALL, you are steps away from our town's beach providing award winning sunsets, grocery, restaurants, town boat launch, prime family friendly hiking trails, horseback riding, etc. Head to Old Forge 15 minutes south on Route 28 to the Enchanted Forrest Water Safari amusement park, movie theater, and more ADK style shops and restaurants. We can’t wait to share this magical place with our guests. brbrUpon arriving, you can park under the large carport. It is large enough to accommodate four small vehicles or two long trucks. There is also parking for one car on either side of the carport. Snowmobilers can leave their trailers either in the large yard or under the carport for the season (December-March). brbrThe bedrooms have all been updated with brand new comfortable mattresses and plush pillows with comforters for a great nights rest (guests supply their own linens/towels). We also ask that guests leave the outside of the home free of any food as it attracts small and large animals. Take all recycling and garbage to the transfer station 2 miles down the road on Limekiln Lake Road. Please do not leave food inside of your parked vehicle overnight as bears have been known to damage vehicles trying to get in them. We also ask to keep others in the neighborhood in consideration during late night (11pm) activities and be aware of sound levels. We want everyone to enjoy the peace and quiet this area has to offer. brbrThe fall is especially beautiful in the Adirondacks region. This is a great area to explore with all of the surrounding local trails to get those favorite shots of the changing leaves and blue lakes. Not too far from Inlet, you can take a quick drive north to Blue Mountain Lake, Raquette Lake, Tupper lake or even go all the way to Lake Placid. This completely winterized cozy cabin is located in a private wooded setting that sits on three and one-half acres of land backing up to State Land and Rocky Mountain. Beds are comfortable, with regular house mattresses. Back porch is lighted, enclosed and screened. Close to hiking and biking trails as well as the beaches at Inlet/Fourth Lake and Brown's Tract Pond has a nice quiet beach just 10 minute away. Five minutes to Inlet, Fern Park and boat launches at Fourth Lake, ten-twelve minutes to Old Forge, ten minutes to Big Moose, the water park and lots of shops and other attractions. Horseback riding stable nearby also. Moss Lake and Cascade Lake trails 7 minutes away. Hunting/hiking right out back on hundreds of acres of state land, and just up the road is the Bug Lake trail to more deer habitat. brbrThis cabin is on Uncas Road, a snowmobile trail road.brbrThe cabin has a comfortable living room, wood stove/fireplace, fully stocked kitchen with toaster, coffee maker, hot water teapot, waffle iron, blender, microwave, elec. food chopper, toaster oven, and two crockpots. We have had three bear incidents so far. One was a bear on the back porch because someone left food there. Another was a bear walking up the driveway past the camp. Another was a sow with her cub. The sow was on the front steps, looking in the window of the door. They are always sniffing out food. Just keep it inside when you are done eating.brbrInternet phone can call anywhere in the country for free, good internet is available, flat-screen TV in LR, another TV upstairs and in master bedroom for VCRs and DVDs.brbrPlenty of VHS and DVD movies, 100 or so, including lots of kid's movies, are there at the cabin to watch on rainy days. Three TV's, ones in LR, one upstairs for the kids to watch movies, and one in master bedroom.brbrWe have a nice library of books on shelves throughout the the cabin, many of which are Adirondack oriented. We have transformed this property into a beautiful rustic cabin with all the luxury amenities for our guests to enjoy. The Highland Cottage is situated in a prime location for snowmobiling and hiking, there is access to Fourth lake and trails within a few hundred feet of the Cottage. The cottage has 3 levels, with 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, living room, family room, an office area, a fully equipped large kitchen with peninsula, laundry, enclosed porch dining area with large windows and view of the lake, and a screened sleeping porch on the 3rd level.
