Warm-up after your swim, hike, or ski with a sauna that seats four comfortably. Take a short kayak or paddleboard to Oliver's Island for a picnic, explore the sand bar with the kids or enjoy the private swim dock in the cove. Local hiking is a paddle away at Bicknell Brook or drive 20 minutes to Mt. Cardigan. brbrA modern chef's kitchen with large skylights and a new outdoor gas grill provides complete cooking alternatives for any meal. A breakfast bar with two stools adjacent to the kitchen is a lovely place to enjoy conversation while cooking in the kitchen.brbrThe ground floor layout is an open plan with a living room, dining table, and television area adjacent to each other. The space offers views of the lake and direct access to the screened-in porch where additional dining and seating is available. A propane Jotul stove is situated in the living room for fall and winter visits. A half bath is located on the ground floor and is easily accessible through the kitchen area. Laundry is also located on the ground floor adjacent to the half bath. brbrThe ground floor master suite has a king-sized bed, 2-person jacuzzi tub, a gas-fired Jotul stove, and views of the lake and mature gardens. brbrThe two second-floor bedrooms include two twin XL beds and a single regular twin bed. There is a full bath on this floor with a combination tub/shower. A large rooftop terrace at the 2nd floor should only be used for egress due to low railings. brbrThe third-floor bedroom includes a queen-sized bed and ensuite half bath. brbrThe second and third floors are accessed by a single spiral staircase. brbrThe screened porch is an enjoyable place to dine or nap with an extra-long teak dining table that seats 12 and a futon couch and chairs. A hammock is directly outside the porch and adjacent to an 8' picnic table that seats 6 comfortably. The fire pit is directly in front of the porch between the lake and the house and clearly visible from the screened porch area. Seating around the fire pit is provided. brbrThe dock area includes a ladder to access the water and nearby swim dock. No diving or jumping is allowed from the dock due to the surrounding rocky cove area. The swim dock is visible from the porch. There is a shallow sandy area closer to the shore for younger children to play. The shoreline is teaming with wildlife and fish nesting areas. The adjacent uninhabited peninsulas provide exceptional seclusion and privacy. (Please note the seasonal swim dock and floating boat dock will only be in place between Memorial Day and Columbus Day). brbrOn the South side of the house, there is a paver patio with Adirondack chairs, a soccer net, room for corn hole boards, and the sauna.brbrThe Point peninsula is on the east side of the cove and has a cedar swing with views of the swim dock, two chairs for seating, and nice rock outcroppings for swimming and kayak docking. Fires are NOT allowed on The Point peninsula.brbrThe home is close to Hanover's Dartmouth College & Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Colby Sawyer College in New London. The master bedroom has a queen bed, a cathedral ceiling, and windows facing beautiful views on three sides, while the bathroom includes a custom double vanity and large tiled shower. There is also a twin mattress that can be pulled from under the bed, perfect for a child or low-maintenance adult. brbrUpstairs, three additional bedrooms with their own shared gathering space and a bathroom with shower provide plenty of room for family and friends. The west-facing bedroom has a queen bed and the best views from the house. The south-facing bedroom has a pair of twin beds and overlooks the orchard, and the north bedroom sleeps three in twin bunk beds as well as a single. Between the bedrooms, there is a spacious sitting area / play room, perfect for quiet reading or playful children, depending on the crowd.brbrThe property is situated at the end of a town-maintained dirt road, offering total privacy. There are 50-mile views facing west to Vermont, and the sunsets are sensational. Several small outbuildings dot the property, and the orchard contains more than 20 apple trees of various types. There are high-bush blueberries, raspberry brambles, and wild blackberries. The spring-fed pond across from the front of the house has a sandy bottom and a center depth of roughly 8', making it perfect for cooling off on a summer day.brbrShaker Mountain Farm is accessible and inviting all year round. The house is 2 hours from Boston and 5 hours from New York City. There are some great skiing options nearby: 25 minutes to Mount Sunapee, an hour to Killington, and only a few minutes to family-oriented Whaleback Mountain. It is the perfect get away in any season. brbrSpring days are longer, the fish are biting, and it is a great time to enjoy a paddle or a local hike. Bring your bike or use one of ours and take a ride on the 58-mile Northern Rail Trail taking in all the sites along the way. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy an evening campfire while listening to the frogs announce that spring has arrived. brbrIn summer the pristine pond is ideal for swimming, jumping off the dock or just floating on our water toys. We have a canoe, two kayaks and a paddle board to help you explore the lake. Relax in the hammock or on the shore to take in the views of the lake. The perfect end to a summer day is dinner served on the deck overlooking the lake or on the one-of-a-kind floating picnic table. brbrSpend fall days hiking to the top of a local mountain to view the foliage, visiting an apple orchard to pick some fresh fruit or just paddling around on the lake in one of our kayaks to experience the fabulous fall colors. Stop at a farmers market or farm stand and pick up all the fixings to make dinner in the fully stocked kitchen that over looks the lake.
