Country House

Mountain Farmhouse w/ hot tub; 10 mins to hikes!

Bethlehem, New Hampshire, United States

brJust over two hours from Boston, this cozy, yet spacious home is the perfect spot to slow down + unplug. After skiing Cannon Mountain or hiking the many nearby peaks, watch the sunset turn to starry skies from the porch with mountain views for miles. Plenty of nearby restaurants and breweries, we're 5 minutes to downtown Bethlehem and 10 from Littleton. Have coffee in the mornings on the wraparound porch, or curl up inside by the wood burning stove. Come relax and breathe deep! *New: EVs welcomebrbrThe farmhouse is a short drive to Cannon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Loon Mountain, Moore Reservoir, Franconia Notch State Park, Mt. Washington hotel, bike trails, several golf courses, not to mention all the shops, restaurants, and breweries in Bethlehem and Littleton. We share some of our own favorites on IG--follow along: @thenorthcountryfarmhouse.brbrOur inviting, light-filled farmhouse is the perfect setting for friends and families to gather for a White Mountains getaway in all seasons. Three separate sitting areas, a large dining room, hot tub, a rocking chair-lined 3-sided porch, and fire-pit make for a perfect rural retreat. Once known as “Grand View Cottage,” the house has a long history and quirky charm. Previous owners installed moldings, doors, and cornices salvaged from the by-gone era of Bethlehem's great hotels; and the antiques and artwork adorning every wall, nook, and cranny make the space truly one-of-a-kind.brbrWith 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, this house is excellent for large groups and families, and it’s a space you can truly live in during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with updated appliances, utensils, spices, and servingware. The house is also stocked with puzzles, board games, art supplies for kids, 2 TV's, and books of all genres, including a dedicated children's library. A bit of seasoned firewood for the wood stove and/or fire-pit is provided for guests, along with cozy bedding (including down comforters and extra wool blankets for colder nights), plush towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, and Crocs for walking to and from the hot tub.brbrThe house sleeps 9 adults comfortably. With the twin bed located in the small reading nook adjoining the master bedroom (#5), a maximum of 10 can be accommodated.brbrA couple quirks to note about the layout:br- Bedroom 4 (1 full bed) is a private room but is accessed by walking through Bedroom 3 (2 twin beds).br- Two of the three bathrooms have a bathtub; only one has a shower. However, we have found that this has not been an issue even for large groups.br- Mind your step when walking from the dining room to the living room; and be sure to watch little children around the wood burning stove (which gets very hot) and by the trap door stairs in the reading nook near the master bedroom. (Please keep that trap door open to help circulate heat upstairs. And DO NOT walk on it if closed!)brbrWe strive to keep our house as eco-friendly and low-impact as possible with:br- As of October 2021, a brand new roofbr- As of November 2021, a completely new multi-zone high efficiency furnace system in both sections of the homebr- Energy-efficient appliances and insulationbr- Single-stream recyclingbr- Plant-based cleaning and laundry products, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and body washbr- Reusable food storage containers and refilled hand and dish soaps to reduce plastic wastebr- EV charging!brFull access to entire house, including washer & dryer, and outdoor hot tub.

In addition, you will find a lounge area with comfortable seating in front of a pellet stove—a favorite après-ski nook. A half bathroom is also located on this level for added comfort. The town's Main Street is just a few minutes away, offering a charming mix of cafés, local breweries, art galleries, and small shops that capture the relaxed spirit of the White Mountains.brbrFor everyday needs, the Village Store is only a 3-minute drive from the house — perfect for quick groceries or morning coffee. Larger stores like Walmart and Shaw's Supermarket in Littleton are about 10 minutes away, making it easy to stock up for longer stays. Stop by Rek'-lis Brewing Company, a local favorite for craft beer and casual bites, or explore nearby boutiques like Lonesome Woods and other delightful Main Street shops. And don't miss our “Super Secret Ice Cream” a local ice cream spot that's a true hidden gem for ice cream lovers. For outdoor lovers, Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon Mountain, and Bretton Woods are all just a short drive away, offering some of New England's best hiking, skiing, and breathtaking views. Whether you're here for mountain adventures, village strolls, or cozy downtime, the Lodge offers the perfect blend of seclusion and convenience — your gateway to the best of the White Mountains.brbrGUEST ACCESSbrbrGuests have full access to our home, with a few clearly marked areas reserved for maintenance or owner storage (such as utility and storage rooms or closets). These areas are not essential for your stay and will not affect your access to any amenities.brbrOTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:brbrDriving and access in the winter:brWinter in the White Mountains can be beautiful—and occasionally intense! The driveway is plowed after about 3 inches of snow (typical for NH), and once accumulation exceeds a foot, our plow team also clears our deck. Since the living and dining areas overlook the deck, you might see them early in the morning after a snowy night. Shovels are also provided if you prefer to clear a bit on your own. A bucket of salt is also provided near the entrance for guests to use if the stairs get icy. Cars and mid-size SUVs can park below the deck with direct access to the house from the ground level, so there's no need to take the exterior stairs during snowy weather. brbrIf your car doesn't fit under the deck, please park to the left of the entryway stairs, as close to the deck as possible, so there's room for snow removal. Only one vehicle fits there. If you have larger or additional vehicles, please park to the right of the entryway stairs, keeping close to allow the plow to pass safely. brbrFor comfort and safety, 4WD or AWD vehicles are recommended during winter months.brbrAccess and mobility considerations:brPlease note that the main level of the house can be reached either by exterior stairs or by an interior staircase from the ground level. Because of this layout, the property may not be suitable for guests using wheelchairs unless assistance is available.brbr Recent renovations:brThe Lodge has been completely renovated inside, with new finishes, bathrooms, and expanded deck and balconies. br brWhy You'll Love Staying Herebr-Dog-friendly, fully renovated home in a great locationbr-Private yard with large sunset facing deckbr-Pellet stovebr-Keyless entry with virtual check-in/check-out for a seamless experience br-Digital guidebooks and local insights at your fingertips, and discounts on Cog Railway tickets and selected local golf courses (subject to availability)br-Life happens!
