In the summer, float the Lazy River at Mack's Inn or travel to the Galletin River for some white water excitement. You just might see bear, moose, elk, wolves, red fox, bald eagles, or other wild animals in the local area while riding your ATV even without venturing to Yellowstone Park.brbrThings to see and do:brbrBIG SPRINGS; The water flows from beneath the Yellowstone Plateau at a constant temperature year round. Yellowstone, with its famous geysers, hot springs and abundant wildlife, was the world’s first National Parks. HARRIMAN STATE PARK; This is one of Idaho’s latest scenic attractions. Located just 15 miles south of Island Park Village Resort, the 11,217 acre park joins 19 other state parks administered by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.brbrHENRY’S LAKE STATE PARK; High in a mountain bowl at an elevation of 6,470 feet lays Henry’s Lake. The lake is within Henry’s Lake State Park and surrounded by lush meadow and the towering Sawtooth Mountains. The shallow lake is known for big trout catches. Henry’s Fork of the Snake River originates at the outlet of the famous Henry’s Lake, just under the Continental Divide between Idaho and Montana. This stream is world renowned as one of the best fly fishing areas in the world. On your way to Quake Lake and Hebgen Lake, stop by Henry’s Lake fish hatchery and see the large trout running and the work done at the hatchery.brbrMESA FALLS (UPPER AND LOWER); Want a relaxing day Pack a picnic lunch and follow the following directions to Mesa Falls. Food and gas are also available. In the winter, it is a spectacular snowmobile trip.brbrCRATERS OF THE MOON; A sea of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush describes this “weird and scenic Landscape” known as Craters of the Moon. Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve contain three major lava fields covering almost a half a million acres. These remarkably well preserved volcanic features resulted from geologic events that appear to have happened yesterday and will likely continue tomorrow. Located 85 miles west of Idaho Falls, or take Hwy 33 out of Rexburg and go west to Arco.brbrVIRGINIA CITY AND NEVADA CITY; Leaving Island Park Village Resort turn right on Hwy 20 and follow it to the junction of Hwy 87, turn left when you reach the end of Hwy 87, follow Hwy 287 along the beautiful Madison River to Ennis, MT. One mile west of Virginia City is famous Nevada City, with its Chinese section of town, the two-story out-house at the end of the Hotel Veranda and Opera Hall with all the musical memorabilia. Ride the narrow gauge railroad between these fun cities, with the old time railroad cars including the Cathedral and the Pullman car. These cities are open only during the summer months.brbrLEWIS & CLARK CAVERNS; Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park is Montana’s first and best known state park featuring one of the largest known limestone caverns in the Northwest. Above ground, a self-guided nature trail provides opportunities to understand the natural surroundings.brbrNear the Missouri Headwaters State Park, the waters of the Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin Rivers flow together to form a living monument to the discoverers of the headwaters, Captains William Lewis and Meriwether Clark. Lewis and Clark Cavers were named in honor of the West’s early explorers, but were actually undiscovered until the 1890’s. Regular tours of the caves began in the late1940’s and now have thousands of visitors each year. The entire tour takes about two hours. Attached

Summer months are fine with a small car but four wheel drive is a must in the winter!brbrbrbrOther Things to Note:brbrWhat to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!brbrbrbrInteraction with Guests:brbrIf guests have any questions or concerns during their stay, Please call or text, we do not monitor Airbnb messages late in the evening or early morning. Contact information is listed in our information that we send. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, we're happy to help!

One bedroom has a queen bed and the other a king bed and a twin. The bedrooms share a half bath and have access to a full bath with shower on the floor below.brbrACTIVITY SPACE:brAbove the Lodge's seating area is a massive loft area with a 120-inch projection screen, foosball, and board games: a great space for kids to spread out and play or watch a movie.brbrOUTDOOR SPACE:brA beautiful deck with comfortable chairs offers a vantage point from which to enjoy the meadow of wildflowers or snowshoe-worthy powder (seasonally). The deck is framed by massive logs supporting the cathedral gable over the deck. Illuminated on a warm summer night, it is a welcoming resting place for those who have spent the day hiking, boating, or on other adventures: a perfect place for sitting out in the long summer evenings and reading or enjoying the company of friends.brIn front of the deck is a rustic amphitheater ringed by log benches, perfect for group activities and games. The area in front of the deck is also a great place to use the propane barbecue – a perfect way to prepare food in the gentle summer evenings.brbrINTERNET:brThere is high-speed internet in both the Lodge and Bedroom wings. Cabin

Henry's Fork Waterfront - Camp Targhee

Island Park, Idaho, United States

Welcome to Camp Targhee a beautiful, small log cabin built in 1923 and updated throughout the years. This much loved cabin sits on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River and includes a dock. You don’t have to go anywhere! You can walk right out the porch door and go fly fishing or enjoy water fun right at this rental property! You will also very often see wildlife such as moose and bald eagle right in front of the cabin! This cabin is in a highly coveted location and sits in a truly special setting -- on a private road with only 14 cabins with the overall area surrounded by natural forest and open space. As a result the environment is very peaceful and serene and is a stark contrast to the cabins up the river and closer to Mack's Inn where the water is crowded with day floaters. It is quite typical to see moose and bald eagle on the river as you are sitting on the dock or enjoying the beauty from the screened riverfront porch. This cabin is perfect for those who want to enjoy Island Park or tour Yellowstone as it is about 20 miles from West Yellowstone and the gate to the park. A perfect trip would include time exploring Yellowstone and time fishing and playing on the river. There are also miles of trails for hiking, biking, running and walking. All this only 20 miles from the West Entrance to Yellowstone! brbrThe cabin includes the following:brbr* One bedroom with a queen bed, br* One bath with a shower,br* A twin bed with a trundle bed in the main room. The trundle can be pulled out and left at a level lower than the bed or it can be heightened to become an additional twin bed or placed next to the twin to make a king bed,br* A twin bed on the screened sleeping porch with mesh screen windows rather than glass and a gorgeous view of the river which allows one to sleep in a protected environment while listening to the river and nature sounds all night,br* Well outfitted and stocked kitchen with a convection oven, stove, 11 cu foot refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, blender and all utensils, serving and cooking tools you will need. br* Weekly trash pick up service on Wednesday Mornings.br* WiFi Service (Fiber Optic). br*Please note that the boats/paddleboard are shown for illustrative purposes only and are not included. You can bring your own or rent them for your use just a block up the river.brbrThis cabin will appeal to those who want to enjoy an old fashioned relaxed lifestyle in the way that many loved Island Park before it was discovered. The evenings are perfect for outdoor BBQs on the patio and time around the outdoor firepit. This cabin will NOT appeal to those who are looking for a modern home complete with TVs, etc as it is meant to be a respite from modern stress, gadgets and information overload. We purposefully do not have these electronics in the cabin to encourage everyone to unplug, relax, get outside and enjoy the outstanding beauty of the area and the many activities available right out the door. We do have WiFi so people can improve the cell service, work remotely, log on to their Netflix account, text etc. The cabin is downriver from the Mack's Inn area and is within walking distance to a riverfront restaurant and a gas station/convenience store. The cabin is about 20 feet from the bank of the Henry's Fork of the Snake River and you can float and canoe right off the dock of the cabin. brbrThere are so many things to do in the area. One big draw is Yellowstone and this cabin is a great place to come back to after a day of touring the Park. It is so wonderful to decompress after a long day of sightseeing by playing in the water, fishing for smaller trout off the dock or enjoying the beauty and sounds from the screened riverfront porch prior to making dinner on the BBQ which overlooks the river. You can also enjoy more local sights such as Big Springs, Box Canyon and hiking Coffee Pot Rapids. You can canoe to Coffee Pot campground from the cabin. Local sights such as Harriman Ranch can be enjoyed via hike or on horseback with one of their guides. Harriman is also great for fishing. Mesa Falls is gorgeous and a must see. Lakes such as Hebgen Lake, Henry's Lake and the nearby Island Park Reservoir are great for swimming, fishing, jet skiing, boating and waterskiing or wakeboarding. There are numerous places to rent boats and jet skis in the area and they will deliver them to the boat launch and pick them up when you are done. Golf is just up the road at the Island Park Village Resort where they also have tennis courts and an indoor pool. brbrFamilies, couples and small groups have all loved their time at this cabin. It is perfect if you want to truly live the cabin lifestyle. Having said this if you prefer a place with a TV, air conditioning (we do have fans though), a Washer/dryer and dishwasher this place would not be your best choice. Cell service can be spotty but works very well via WiFi calling. While the cabin has a great kitchen it does not Include a dishwasher but we have always enjoyed the camaraderie of doing them together by hand. There are laundry facilities right up the street that are easily accessed when needed as the cabin does not have a washer or dryer. brbrThis cabin is a stand alone single family residence. The lot is 130 feet wide along the river allowing for plenty of riverfront to enjoy and play! The firepit and dock provide a ton of entertainment and fun and are solely for the use of this cabin allowing for fun family times! brbrThis cabin is not a great choice for ATV enthusiasts who want to bring their own ATVs as there is no parking or turnaround for ATV trailers. If you want to rent them for the day and ride the many miles of trails in the general area there are many shops that have them available for rent. As there is no place to park them at the cabin we request that they not come in as they will overcrowd the cabin parking and disrupt the neighborhood. brbrOnce your reservation has been accepted the rental agreement and additional information and addendums must be signed and returned to the owner within 48 hours of receipt by the person(s) renting the cabin (including copies of a Driver's License for each adult member of the party).
