We have three additional cabins (VRBO codes 7914761, 7911593, and 2016386) sharing six beautiful acres of Guadalupe river frontage, where guests are free to wander the park like setting under the shade of majestic oaks, pecans, and cypress trees. Enjoy fantastic views of the Guadalupe river from cabin decks and bench swings, take a nap in a hammock, relax and cook smores at our firepits, or play tennis day or night on our newly resurfaced tennis court, and of course spend time in and on the river!brbrOur retreat differs from many of the rental options on the river. We cater to families, couples, reunions and small groups who want a tranquil environment and wish to avoid the rowdy crowds and party cabins. We limit group sizes to what the cabins can comfortably accommodate, and we enforce our property rules regarding day guests, loud music, and disorderly conduct. If you are looking for an oasis on the river, a place where you can have fun but also relax in comfort, peace, and privacy, Guadalupe River Road Retreat is the place for you!brbrGeneral info.brbrThe Guadalupe River Road Retreat is located at 8910 River Road between the second and third crossing, halfway between Gruene and Canyon Lake, and is accessible via an electric gate (code provided upon booking).brbrWe have two river access points, a concrete dock with steps down, or via a natural path down to a sitting area under the canopy of two massive cypress trees. Across the river from the property is a unique limestone expanse carved by the river where guests frequently enjoy hanging out, playing in the water, and watching the toobers float by.brbrThere are multiple river outfitters within a short distance of the property, with the closest being Mountain Breeze which is less than a quarter mile from our access gate. brbrGruene Texas, famous for its shops, restaurants, and the historic Gruene Dance Hall, is only nine miles (15 to 20 minutes south of our location). Sattler, where guests can find a small grocery store, gas, and other necessities, is only five miles (approximately 13 minutes) to the north. brbr

Service may go in and out!brbr-------brbrWe stock the property with all basic kitchen utensils (dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans). Our cleaning company provides a starter pack of toilet paper (2 rolls per restroom), paper towels (2 rolls in the kitchen), sponge (1), trash bags (3), dishwasher tablets (3), bar soap (1 per restroom), make-up wipes (2 per restroom), hand soap in the restrooms, and dish soap in the kitchen. We supply enough bath towels for the maximum occupancy of the unit, and half the guest count for hand towels and wash cloths. We recommend for guests to bring any food, toiletries, and beach towels they may need during their stay! brbrThe cleaning fee covers the cost for cleaning to come in, and flip the unit for the next arrival, especially during the summer when we have a four-hour turnover time. While the cost may seem high to some, this includes the starter pack of supplies in the unit, washing all of the linens and towels, and completely cleaning and sanitizing the unit for the next guests arrival. This is why we kindly ask you to remove all trash, run the dishwasher, and just put the linens and towels in a pile. If these items are not completed, it then causes the cleaning crew to spend extra time doing these tasks, which we have to charge the guest for. By the guests completing these tasks, and not leaving the unit excessively dirty, we are able to get cleaning in and out during the four hour turnover, and this is also how we are able to accommodate early check-ins! While this may not always be the case (sometimes we may have 20-40 turnovers in one day), we strive to accommodate guests and their schedules within reason, to allow you to have an enjoyable stay!brbrWith any excessively dirty unit (excessive pet hair, vomit, stained sheets, stained towels, confetti/glitter, etc), we will have to charge the guest the additional cleaning. If the bottom handle is locked and you are subsequently locked out of the home, you will be responsible for the full cost of the locksmith.‏brbr9. Please take care when opening and closing the blinds during your stay. Lost, missing, or damaged blinds have a replacement cost of $40 per blind. If any blinds just fall during your stay, please reattach them to avoid a cost of $40 per blind to reattach.brbr10. ‏Standard check‏‏-‏‏in is at 4:00 pm and check‏‏-‏‏out is at 11:00 am. ‏brbr11.‏ LATE CHECK OUT must be requested 24 hours before your checkout and is $50/hour and is subject to approval. Unauthorized late checkouts/missed check outs are subject to an additional rescheduling fee equal to the original cleaning fee in addition to the standard late checkout fee which is meant to compensate the cleaners for last minute rescheduling and also additional labor/rush cleaning to prepare the unit.brbr12.‏ EARLY CHECK IN must be requested at time of booking and is subject to availability. The fee is $50 to check in at 3pm. For anything earlier, the fee is $25/hr and subject to availability. We will file a theft report and charge for any missing or damaged items. ‏brbr14.‏ Reservations longer than 28 nights may require additional cleaning after each month. A queen, twin, and sofa sleeper allow for a good nights sleep. This is simple studio style therefore all in one room space. A fully stocked kitchen provides the backdrop for a gourmet meal or just BBQ outside in covered BBQ pavilion. Books, WIFI, various DVD's, and board games provide indoor entertainment.brbr***This being a rustic cabin, it has very little modern day insulation. Please expect that on very hot summer days, the inside temperature may reach the upper 70's, and on very cold nights, may reach the 50's, despite our AC and heaters.***brbrOur boathouse is great for lounging and swimming, and is where you will spend most of your time. Wide stairs allow for easy water access to swim, float, or kayak. Our covered upper deck is perfect for lounging all day, and dinner in the evening.brbrNearer the cabin is a charcoal grill and a huge offset smoker. All are under a covered pavilion with table and chairs close by. brbrThe back porch and long yard with shady tall trees greet your view of Lake Dunlap. The firepit is great on chilly nights. It's absolutely gorgeous.brbrThis is a great place for pets, but it's not tightly enclosed, so bring your leash.brbrNew Braunfels provides so many options as far as fun things to do. Tubing from Landa Falls or The Float In is so much fun especially because of the Tube Chute! Good places to eat and shopping are available in New Braunfels and Gruene. A nice walk through Landa Park and Panther Canyon provide a nature getaway. If you need anymore info or need suggestions don’t hesitate to ask. There are several hiking trails in our area. I'm happy to provide a list.brbrOur property provides you with a unique opportunity to swim, fish, enjoy the boathouse, fire pit, and use the kayaks and water toys. We want you to take advantage of these amenities and have a memorable visit. However, by agreeing to our House Rules, you acknowledge that there are inherent risks involved with participating in these activities and that lakes, boathouses, stairs, campfires, kayaks, and water toys may present dangers for adults and children. Children must be carefully supervised at all times when near the water. If you swim or use the kayaks or water toys (especially children) we strongly recommend the use of life jackets which are provided for you and your guests. Because the water at the end of the dock is only 4' deep, no diving off the dock is allowed. Our cleaning company provides a starter pack of toilet paper (2 rolls per restroom), paper towels (2 rolls in the kitchen), sponge (1), trash bags (3), dishwasher tablets (3), bar soap (1 per restroom), make-up wipes (2 per restroom), hand soap in the restrooms, and dish soap in the kitchen. We supply enough bath towels for the maximum occupancy of the unit, and half the guest count for hand towels and wash cloths. We recommend for guests to bring any food, toiletries, and beach towels they may need during their stay! brbrThe cleaning fee covers the cost for cleaning to come in, and flip the unit for the next arrival, especially during the summer when we have a four-hour turnover time. While the cost may seem high to some, this includes the starter pack of supplies in the unit, washing all of the linens and towels, and completely cleaning and sanitizing the unit for the next guests arrival. This is why we kindly ask you to remove all trash, run the dishwasher, and just put the linens and towels in a pile. If these items are not completed, it then causes the cleaning crew to spend extra time doing these tasks, which we have to charge the guest for. By the guests completing these tasks, and not leaving the unit excessively dirty, we are able to get cleaning in and out during the four hour turnover, and this is also how we are able to accommodate early check-ins! While this may not always be the case (sometimes we may have 20-40 turnovers in one day), we strive to accommodate guests and their schedules within reason, to allow you to have an enjoyable stay!brbrWith any excessively dirty unit (excessive pet hair, vomit, stained sheets, stained towels, confetti/glitter, etc), we will have to charge the guest the additional cleaning. A great place to fish, swim or just relax. Its a constant level lake so we always are full with water.brbrWe are located within 5-10 minutes of Schlitterbahn, the Comal River, the Guadalupe River and Gruene Hall. Texas Ski Ranch is 20 min away and offers wakeboarding, axe throwing, eating, live music, special events& more. Each of our accommodations comes with free passes to the Texas Ski Ranch. Passes include either free 2 hrs of wakeboarding or 1 hour of axe throwing.
