This listing actually includes the use of 2 lakefront homes: a large and beautifully-updated 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home on the hill up from the beach and also a smaller and more rustic 2-bedroom, 1-bath beach house that is right on the beach on Lake Huron! Includes window / portable A/C units. Great for multiple families or multiple generations to spend time together while still having some personal private space!

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:

We have a local property manager that lives in the area and is available to address any issues that may arise.

NEIGHBORHOOD:

The home is in a high-end residential district along Lake Huron. Most of the homes in the neighborhood are vacation homes for professional families.

The home is just 0.3 miles south of where the Au Gres River flows into Lake Huron. The bridge on US-23 that goes over the river, The Singing Bridge, is quite famous and there is a public park at the bridge where the river flows into Lake Huron. The name of the bridge comes from the decking that was in place on the bridge years ago. As cars would go over the bridge, the decking would hum. In the past, the river was also very popular for smelt dipping in the spring. It is a lovely 0.3 mile walk along the Lake Huron beach up to the park and the mouth of the Au Gres River.

Just a bit further north is wonderful downtown East Tawas, which is only 11.4 miles north of the property. Downtown East Tawas has a great collection of shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, a marina, and a movie theater. During the summer they close down the main street and have live music on Tuesday nights, which is a lot of fun! We would particularly recommend visiting The Village Chocolatier for chocolates and having breakfast at The Lazy Toaster.

The entire area is famous for fishing, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, and nature viewing and there are a number of different places in the area for these activities. There are also several places in the area that rent out boats, kayaks, and paddleboards for fun on the water if you don't have your own watercraft.

GUEST ACCESS:

Guests have access to the entirety of both houses, except for an owners' closet in the larger house. The detached garage next to the larger house is also not available for guest usage.

THE SPACE:

The larger home has been recently updated and is gorgeous inside! It features 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and the two main floor bedrooms each have their own en suite private bathroom! Also, the fourth bedroom is very large and basically has its own living area including a sectional sofa, television, and desk along with the two twin beds. This makes for a great area for kids, teenagers, and/or young adults to hang out! The larger home also includes a main floor stacked washer and dryer, Wi-Fi, streaming television, and a large backyard deck with outdoor dining furniture and a gas grill. In terms of air conditioning, the home does NOT have central air conditioning, but there is a portable A/C unit in the living room, a window A/C unit in one of the bedrooms, and a window A/C unit in the upstairs living area.

In between the two homes is a large backyard lawn, which is great for kids to play on! There is also a basketball hoop at the end of the driveway and basketballs and other outdoor kids toys are available for use.

Down basically right on the beach is the older and more rustic beach house. The house is less than 30 feet from the edge of the water! It has a private seawall with stairs going down to the beach and the lake. The beach house has its own full kitchen (just without a dishwasher), dining table, and beds for up to 4 additional people, so it also provides for a great space for a second family, additional family members, and/or teenagers and young adults to hang out. It also has its own beachfront deck, beachfront swing, and fire pit for great bonfires right next to the beach! There is also a window A/C unit in the bedroom. The lake views from the beach house are fantastic and there is generally a wonderfully cool breeze on the beach. PLEASE DO NOTE THAT THE BEACH HOUSE IS QUITE RUSTIC THOUGH. Not all of the windows go up, some of the screens are damaged, and there is somewhat of a musty smell in the house. Hopefully, this is not a big issue, but, if it is, then we would advise guests to only use the newer, larger, and nicer house on the hill or else book elsewhere.

TRANSIT:

It is highly recommended that guests have their own means of transportation.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

1) BEDROOMS: The sixth bedroom (the second bedroom in the smaller beach house) does not have a private door to it. It is open to the rest of the house.

2) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Although we allow up to 10 guests in total, there is a limit of a maximum of 8 adults. Please also note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.

3) GARAGE: The detached garage next to the larger house is not available for guest usage.

4) AIR CONDITIONING: There is a portable A/C unit and 2 window A/C units in the lake house. There is a window A/C unit in the bedroom of the beach house. The home does NOT have central air conditioning though.

5) PETS: All pets are strictly prohibited.

6) QUIET HOURS: For the sake of the neighborhood, we ask that guests observe outdoor quiet hours from 10:00 PM until 8:00 AM.

7) BEACH HOUSE: Please note that the house on the beach is quite rustic. Please see the SPACE section for additional details.

8) STUFF FOR YOUNG CHILDREN: As shown in the photos, there is a crib, pack and play, high chair, and walker at the house for young children.

8) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not.

9) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. As such, late check-outs are strictly prohibited.

This is our second summer staying here. We love the house for our family of 5 with friends joining for a day or two. Plenty of bedrooms, areas for gathering and having the beach house this year was a wonderful bonus! The beach is very nice and walkable and this year there were multiple sandbars in the water to splash around in the shallow water (our favorite). My only reason for reducing stars on the location is the house sits on US23 and the primary bedroom is noisy with the windows open at night. We've been coming to the area for 40 years and owned our own cottage for 30 years so we're used to this, but others may find this to be an issue.

The location is great. House was wonderful. The small beach house is rustic, but is right on the water with great views and sounds. Everyone had a great time

House upon arrival was not clean. Sheets in upstairs bedrooms had not been changed for awhile. Day 1 was spent washing sheets. The garbage container was already full and overflowed into the front yard. Kathryn our PM had someone come over to empty the container and pick up the trash and in doing so, they filled up the container again. Day 4 we received an empty container. The beach house was inhabitable due to the overpowering smell of moth balls, and ants taking over, among other things. There was not a windowsill in either house that did not have a layer of dead insects in it. There is no AC and when there is no wind, it is very hot in the house.Window AC’s would make a huge difference to help with the humidity. Also, be aware the ad states guest fees may apply. Any family over 2 people will be charged a guest fee. This would be good to know up front, please include. We paid guest fees for our family of 5, and still did not have a beach house we looked forward to.Other than the guest charges, the rest of the issues could have been prevented. Note to all PM’s, you need to audit your cleaning crew to make sure they are doing more than just emptying the waste baskets. Pros Location was great 10 min drive to Tawas city. House was plenty big enough for 5. We enjoyed the beach, swimming, the lake view was wonderful and relaxing! If the house was entirely clean, and sheets were fresh I would consider coming back in cooler months. They did discount 200 for the mouse issue.
