Oceanside Inn #3 - Clam Cannery

Tillamook, Oregon, United States

This historic property dates back to the 1920’s but recently underwent a full renovation. #3 is on the main level. While in a beachfront building, it lacks views from inside the unit, but the massive shared deck is the perfect place to take in the sites of the Pacific Ocean and Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. brbrThere’s a bedroom with a king bed with an attached full bathroom. There’s also an additional half bath. brbrShared amenities at Oceanside Inn include three Level 2 EV chargers, complimentary guest laundry machines, and a massive deck extending over the bluff, and stairs to the beach below (there’s also a public beach access without stairs a block away). As noted in some reviews, the parking lot can be a little tight, and can occasionally be full (there are ten spaces for the ten units, but parking is not assigned). There is street parking immediately in front of the building, and plentiful parking about a block to the North across from the Blue Agate Cafe.brbrOceanside is considered by many to the hidden jewel of the Northern Oregon Coast. The beach is always special, but it’s even more so in Oceanside during low tides: tide pools abound on the far side of Maxwell Point. You can walk the tunnel under the Maxwell Point, or if the tide is sufficiently low, walk around it. You can easily harvest mussels by hand (with a shellfish license, purchased online from ODFW), and the tide pools are filled with anemones, sea stars, crabs, and mollusks. brbrA few minutes to the south is Netarts Bay, where you can rent crab boats from Big Spruce Boat Rentals or Netarts Bay Garden RV Resort. They’ll give you tips for success, and they’ll even cook them up for you assuming a successful haul. You can crab year-round, but it’s generally best in fall and winter. You can also try clamming in Netarts Bay at low tide - there’s even a patch of geoduck clams at the start of the bay near Happy Camp!brbrOceanside is known as one of the best spots on the Oregon Coast for whale watching. While whales can be spotted any time of year, they’re most common from mid-December to mid-January as 20,000 gray whales migrate south to Mexico, and again in late March through early June as they pass by on their return to Alaska. When the weather is nice, the 180 degree views from the massive shared deck make it the perfect spot for whale watching.brbrIn town, you’ll find three great options for food within a block: Blue Agate and Current Cafe open for breakfast (and coffee!), and Rosanna’s is open starting with brunch . There’s also a small grocery store in Netarts, or a Safeway about 15 minutes away in Tillamook. brbrThe scenic road to through to Tillamook through Cape Meares is once again open, and while longer than the drive through Netarts, the views are exceptional. The drive down to Pacific City along Cape Lookout road is also amongst the most beautiful on the coast, making Pacific City (40 minutes to the south) an exceptional day trip. You can enjoy a drink at Pelican Brewery while watching the surfers and dory boats on the waves, and you can climb and slide down the dunes. brbrWe look forward to hosting you!

Oceanside #7 - Three Arches

Tillamook, Oregon, United States

While in an oceanfront building, it lacks views - and some guests have mentioned noise in the living room from the unit above.brbrBut there’s a lot to like. The location is perfect - in the heart of Oceanside, with a massive shared deck overlooking Three Rocks, and steps down to the beach. Great food is just two doors away at Roseanna's. And the king bedroom is generally quiet, as there’s nothing above it (the upper unit is only over the living room/kitchen).brbrThe Oceanside Inn offers a shared laundry area and three electric vehicle charging spots (two for Teslas and one J1772), and you're welcome to use the deck and patio furniture as well.brbrLovely and quiet Oceanside is the perfect place to relax, take it easy, and enjoy the beauty of the coast. Since the stretch of beach by town is protected by rocks, it's less windy than other beaches, and is a very child-friendly and dog-friendly stretch of sand. Go ahead and spend a day beachcombing for agates, searching for tide pools at low tide, and building sand castles. The iconic Three Arch Rocks are just offshore, offering a fantastic photo op.brbrAfter you've enjoyed plenty of time at the beach, hop in the car to explore more of the Northern Coast. Drive just a few miles north to check out the Cape Meares Lighthouse, then go back south to Netarts or in to the larger Tillamook. Be sure to stop at the famous Tillamook Cheese Factory for a self-guided tour, free cheese samples, and the freshest ice cream you can imagine. For even more adventure, you can go boating or crabbing in the Tillamook or Netarts Bays, take a hike at Cape Lookout State Park, or enjoy a scenic drive north or south along the coast. Whichever way you go, there are plenty of charming towns to explore and beautiful sights to see.brbrAs noted in some reviews, the parking lot can be a little tight, and can occasionally be full (there are ten spaces for the ten units, but parking is not assigned). There is street parking immediately in front of the building, and plentiful parking about a block to the North across from the Blue Agate Cafe.

Right on the Beach, Gorgeous Views, Affordable

Tillamook, Oregon, United States

brRight on the beach, this modern 2-bedroom condo apt. has superb views of ocean sunsets, seals, eagles, pelicans, crab boats, and so much more. Quiet seaside village only 90 min. from Portland. Spectacular hiking trails at nearby Cape Lookout State Park, plus biking, kayaking, and old-growth forests are at your fingertips. Walk to restaurants and stores. You'll love relaxing in the living room window seat while enjoying the the incomparable scenery.brbrAs soon as you make the turn onto Pearl Street, you'll be charmed by the spectacular sight below—Netarts Spit with its gleaming sands reaching into the Pacific and sheltering the entrance to our beautiful bay. Beyond rise the huge offshore stacks known as the Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. Down the private driveway lies our small building with several apartments right on the beach. Within minutes you may spy seals poking their heads from the water just yards from our shore. Watch for great blue herons and bald eagles. Depending on season, there will be flocks of giant pelicans or beautiful waterfowl congregating on the sand, soaring above the bay, diving for food. You'll see all this from the comfort of a window seat in our oceanfront picture window, or enjoying a walk up and down the beach.brbrA 30-min. hike beside the crashing Pacific surf brings you to picturesque Oceanside, a good spot for lunch, dinner, espresso, or just watching hang-gliders launch from the peak and soar over the cliffside homes before landing on the broad beach. You can also take a short walk from our home to restaurants and a good general store right in Netarts. And it's only several minutes by car to Cape Lookout and Cape Meares State Parks, where trails wind through rare old-growth coastal rain forests high above the waves crashing against rocks and cliffs.brbrYou'll return to the modern comforts of our home. It's small (about 839 sq. ft.), but it has everything you need for a short or long stay. All you need to bring is clothing. We even have a collection of books and games. There's DVD and rentals are available in Netarts and Tillamook. Washer and dryer are in our garage. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed (with ocean view), and the second bedroom has two twins. There's also a sofa sleeper in the living room; with only one bathroom, however, we don't recommend our place for parties larger than 4 for any length of time. It's a small quiet condo, and sometimes you won't see anyone else there.brbrNetarts is a place to enjoy Nature outdoors or from our picture windows. There are not a lot of other amusements or great shopping opportunities. (A short day-trip to Cannon Beach or Lincoln City can satisfy those urges.) Tillamook County does offer some hidden treasures inland from the beach, and we're happy to share these ideas with guests who reserve our place.
