Accommodation: New central air for those hot summer days and heat in the winter, even though we have a great fireplace. You will be comfortable, no matter how hot or cold it is outside. brOur cabin, at beautiful Black Butte Ranch, Ridge Cabin 9. brThis comfortable home is nestled within the towering Ponderosa pines of Black Butte Ranch on a quiet cul-de-sac of Ridge Cabins. Just down the hill is Aspen Lake. It’s an easy walk to South Meadow Pool and tennis courts and only a short bike ride to the Glaze Meadow Recreation Center, with indoor and outdoor pools, gym, hot tub, playground, snack bar and bike rental. brThe cabin has vaulted ceilings with an open floor plan between the kitchen/dining area and living room that allows for easy visiting/celebration with family and friends. The kitchen comes equipped with pantry and cabinets full of pots, pans, utensils and all the accoutrements you’d need for family cooking. There is a dishwasher for cleaning up afterwards. The dining table can expand and easily accommodate a party of eight. brRelax in the living room on comfortable furniture around the massive lava-rock fireplace or in front of the TV, with basic cable and DVD player. There is also a landline, and Wi-Fi throughout the cabin. Aside from electronics, you might just want to stare out at the woods just outside the floor to ceiling windows. Don’t be surprised if you see a herd of deer staring back at you. brOn the main floor, there are two bedrooms with queen-size beds, ample closets, and recliners for quiet lounging. Main floor bath with a tub/shower also has a washer and dryer. Upstairs, there is a full-twin bunk bed and a selection of toys and games to keep kids occupied. The upstairs room has a private bath, and is also suitable for adults. brOutside is a full-size deck with grill and a table with seating for six and an umbrella for shade. There are also folding chaises for lounging in the sun. brIn the outdoor storage room, you’ll find two mountain bikes with helmets and a 20 inch kid’s bike with helmet and removable training wheels. Other bikes can be rented at Glaze Meadow. We also have tennis racquets and balls if you’d like to play on the many courts around the ranch. brbrOur family has been coming to Black Butte Ranch for many years. It has provided a safe environment with many activities for children and adults, as well as time and space to just relax. brOur goal is to have families return again and again, as we did, to experience all that Black Butte Ranch has to offer and start making memories for your own family. Car rental is available at the airport.brBlack Butte Ranch is one of Central Oregon’s oldest and most desirable gated resorts. Its setting is a sprawling eighteen hundred acres framed by the Cascade Mountains and Black Butte which provide breathtaking views. The Ranch is surrounded on two sides by Forest Service lands. brInside the ranch you will find all sorts of family-friendly activities. The ranch has two championship 18 hole golf courses; four outdoor and one year-round indoor pool; twenty-three paved tennis courts; Eighteen miles of well-maintained paved biking/walking trails; and guided horseback riding. There is a beautiful remodeled Lodge, restaurant and pool at the edge of Phalarope Lake. Eat or play in the water with a panoramic view of the Three Sisters and Mount Washington. brThere are several recreation centers within Black Butte Ranch. The newest is at Glaze Meadow Recreation Complex, centrally located within the ranch. It has a year-round indoor pool and a outdoor pool; toddler pool; spray ground; large outside hot tub; fitness center; Wireless internet; sports shop; full service Spa; steam room; seasonal bike shop/rental; snowshoe and cross country ski rentals. Adjacent to this facility are lighted tennis courts; a playground with boulders for climbing; playground structures and even a circuit for beginning bikers. During the summer months there is a snack/espresso shop, for you after your morning jog or to get a pick-me-up to keep up with your busy children. brThe other Recreation Center or “Rec Barn” is by the Lodge where you can rent a multitude of equipment including kayaks, stand up paddle boards or canoes. Fly fishing equipment for catch and release on Phalarope Lake can also be rented, as well as any kind of bike you might want to ride. As an aside, in case you are wondering, neither skateboards nor motorcycles are allowed anywhere on the ranch.brIn the Rec Barn are games, ping pong, air hockey, planned kids camps, rock climbing and even “parent’s night out” amongst other various activities. There is also a new Sports Field that offers a full-court basketball court; two pickle ball courts; two bocce ball courts; a sanded volleyball court and two horseshoe pits. Free equipment for these activities is available for check out. brFor winter sports there is downhill skiing and cross country skiing 20 minutes away at HooDoo Ski Resort or one hour away at Mt Bachelor Ski Resort. Snowmobile parks are an easy drive away. Or, you can stay at Black Butte Ranch and cross country ski/snow shoe on our bike pathways in the winter. The Recreation Department here at Black Butte Ranch is a wonderful resource to help you with not only planning your activities at the resort but also activities in the outlying areas such as rock climbing; white water rafting; hiking, climbing, fly-fishing on the headwaters of the famous Metolius River to name a few. Downstairs in the Lodge lobby is an Espresso and gift shop. Robert’s Pub is another option, it overlooks Big Meadow Golf course for fine dining or pizza to go for the children.brFor shopping, the small town of Sisters is just eight miles east. It’s a charming small town with a western theme. It is well known nationally for its famous Outdoor Quilt Show. There’s also the Sisters Rodeo and well-attended Jazz and Folk Festivals. Sisters has a multitude of small shops including craft stores, antiques shops, bike and ski shops, bakeries, restaurants, pubs, pharmacy and Ray’s, a full-size grocery that serves the whole region. Besides Sisters, you can make day trips to Smith Rocks, Lava Lands, or even to Crater Lake.brBlack Butte Ranch has its very own full time Police/Security; EMT’s and a Fire Department just around the corner from the cabin.
