The only bedroom on the ground floor has a full bed and private deck, and provides a space for guests who do not wish to climb the stairs. The Locust House property consists of a main house (The Locust House), a separate small cottage (The Camp) and 2-plus acres situated within the Cape Cod National Seashore Park. The property is 2/10 of a mile (easy walk) to the public beach at Gull Pond. The property is also less than 2 miles from the National Seashore beaches and a short drive to Wellfleet center and harbor. brbrThe Locust House can be rented on it's own or in conjunction with The Camp for additional guests (additional fee required). The combined houses offer a unique opportunity for guests to invite grandparents, family or friends to join them on vacation while having a private space of their own. The Camp, however, will not be rented without the Locust House in order to maintain the privacy of our main house guests.brbrThe Locust House is a 2 bedroom (sleeps 6), 1 bath antique cape built in 1780. The house has an eat-in kitchen, a family room with HDTV, a living room, full bath with tub and shower and a bedroom with a queen bed all on the main floor. A narrow steep staircase leads to the recently added spacious 2nd floor bedroom with 4 twin beds. The house has a ductless a/c system that cools the upstairs and downstairs, but we doubt you’ll need it with the cool Wellfleet sea breeze. The house is designed to offer privacy; a separate apartment on the bottom floor has it's own kitchen, bath and sitting area, and the bedrooms are situated on the first floor so that grandparents, or visiting friends, can have a little peace and quiet, even with kids running around. brbrThis charming Cape house is within walking distance of everything. You don't need to get into your car to go to the general market, restaurants, galleries, Mayo Beach, shops or, most importantly, the ice cream shop. brbrThe house is airy and light, but cozy. There is great cross ventilation, so it never seems hot, even in August. We have significantly renovated the house for 2016, so that it combines the best of a traditional cape house, but has been spruced up: we have reshingled, repainted, and have a newly revamped bathroom. brbrEverything is within easy distance of the house. The new community center is a two minute walk, so that young and old alike can enjoy the activities there. You can walk to get your morning coffee and croissant, and the only dilemma will be whether you spend 2 minutes to go to the market or to the Flying Fish Cafe, or decide to stroll an extra 5 minutes to one of the other great breakfast places. brbrIn the evening, you have your choice of cooking in the spacious kitchen and grill, and entertaining yourselves and guests, or walking to one of the many fabulous restaurants. You can chill with a bottle of wine and Wellfleet oysters on the deck as the kids run around the backyard. brbrRainy days don't feel claustrophobic because the house is well designed, and there is plenty of space, a rarity in a house that sleeps 10. We love playing board games (and have quite a collection), or putting together puzzles as a family. In the event, we get a snow storm during your stay, I would definitely try my level best to ensure that the snow cleaner gets there as quickly as possible, but I wanted to set some expectations, that the snow cleaner's schedule during that time becomes very unpredictable.
