The sights and sounds of the forest are with you day and night, from the wind rustling the leaves and deer walking across the yard to the family of owls swooping from tree to tree and coyotes calling at night. We recently took down some trees to open up the space around the house, and create future space for more lawn and plantings, with the huge trees resting on the forest floor. The woods are lovely, looking densely packed from a distance but as you walk, you realize there is plenty of open space around you. brbrLocation and Things to DobrSadie’s Woods is the ideal location for the outdoor enthusiast, as well as those who enjoy cultural pursuits. brIn winter: For skiing, we are less than 10 minutes from Jiminy Peak, and 45 mins or less to 4 other family ski mountains. For the more adventurous skiers, we are an ideal jumping off point for day trips to VT resorts Bromley and Mount Snow, a little more than an hour away. brIn Spring, Summer and Fall: We are a 5 minute drive from Pittsfield state forest and Balance Rock State Park, and 15 mins to Appalachian Trail access, with lots of great hiking within minutes of the house. For bikers and walkers, it is only 6 minutes to the beginning of Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, one of the longest in MA. For fishing, water sports and swimming, Lake Pontoosuc is 10 mins away, and Cheshire reservoir is 15 mins. There are 3 golf courses within 10 miles.brThe location is also perfect for those who want to enjoy culture and history from all parts of the Berkshires, from the Mass MoCA museum, Hancock Shaker Village and the Clark Art Institute, to music at Tanglewood or theater in Williamstown, being equidistant to both. The second floor, accessed by a fairly steep staircase, has another queen room, and a third room with two twin beds; these share a conveniently located half bath. The house has a large screened in porch and various spots both inside and out to watch the prominent wildlife. Bird lovers will be allured by an incredible sanctuary where ducks, blue herons, geese, songbirds and even an occasional bald eagle an be spotted! Outdoor activities such as running/biking, fishing/boating are an easy walk away. The abutting lake does grow weeds seasonally, especially in the summer months, which will limit water activities. The fireplace gave a beautiful ambiance...and the whole house speakers were a big hit...There is a large firepit outside and lots of room to stretch your legs and play lawn games...One of my favorites! (January 2024) brbrA great location for a ski retreat. The house is large. There's actually like two houses in one! Ping Pong was lots of fun and the hot tub took away the aches of skiing. Beautiful location too. (February 2024)brbrThis is an extremely comfortable place with a wonderful kitchen. It's large with a main space and then an in-law apartment space with a separate entrance over the garage. We stayed in the main space, which has a slate heated floor living room (so nice), comfortable couch and good sized smart TV. brbrThe house layout is a bit unusual, with the living room separated by the kitchen and bath by a raised hallway some steps up and some steps down and a raised loft above the living room. Two bedrooms on the main floor, one upstairs on the second. That said, it would be a very good layout for a family with kids or groups traveling because there is some decent separation between the bedrooms and living space (my kids would have loved the space). Super peaceful, pretty area, very quiet. It was snowing most of the time we were there, and it was very pretty to watch the flakes falling through the several large patio doors/windows overlooking the backyard. (January 2024) brbrWhat a great space for our group of 8 including adults and 2 kids. Love the way the house has separate areas to divide people up a bit. Everyone, young and old, found a place to sleep and call their own, without worrying about noise or different sleep schedules. House had everything you could need to cook, clean, and relax. (January 2024)brbrMy family, including 2 young kids, stayed here over Thanksgiving, along with my parents and adult sibling. The house layout worked well for our group, especially the in-law suite for my parents to have some space. The large yard, paved driveway and heated garage with table games were great, especially for the kids. House was very clean and stocked with basic toiletries and plenty of kitchen supplies. The host was super responsive an even listed extra kitchen items we might need for Thanksgiving, which was so appreciated. The immediate area is rural and quaint with a lot of small farms, and there are a range of attractions and activities in the surrounding region. The wifi was flawless and there are Bose speakers throughout, including on the deck, for music. The owner was extremely responsive, pleasant and proactive...Plenty to do in the Berkshires, but don't be surprised if you don't want to leave the property! Charming A-Frame Near all the Best parts of the Berkshires!

Our A-Frame Cabin is the perfect place to disconnect and get away from it all! A family member literally built it by hand, with every detail of beautiful wood carpentry creating a dreamy cabin experience in the woods. It's cozy and quaint, complete with a propane stove and ok hundreds of classic movies to watch on DVD or VCR. We provide bedding as well as towels, and just ask that you leave the beds unmade and used towels hung on hooks so the cleaning service can take care of laundering them after your stay. There is no internet, so it's truly a time to unplug and read, watch an old classic, or head out to any of the amazing things that are offered in the Berkshires! (You can use your own phone hot-spot if you need to connect to the internet). We are a 3 minute drive from the base at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, with skiing, snowboarding and summer mountain amusement area, as well as a quarter mile from Ramblewild, an outdoor aerial adventure course with trails galore. There are so many hiking areas including Mt. Greylock, right around the corner! There are two beautiful lakes - Lake Pontoosuc, just 5 minutes away, where you can rent a boat or jetski for the day, and, Lake Onota, just 15 minutes away. You can fish from the shore and enjoy a picnic at Pontoosuc or Onata. The Berkshires has so many shopping areas including Lee and Lenox as well as amazing restaurants and historical sites in Williamstown and North Adams. The Miraval Resort, about 20 minutes away, offers high-end spa treatments and activities for old and young to try. Enjoy our home away from home!
