Our River House faces due east and is located directly on the Sapelo River in Pine Harbor, a quaint and quiet community in northern McIntosh County, Georgia.br br The fully furnished 3 bedroom 2 bath house awaits you and your family to create some lifelong memories just as we have and continue to do today. All you need to bring is yourselves and a change of clothes. Grocery stores and restaurants are just minutes away along with Shell Creek Seafood in Eulonia, the Shellman Crab Company on the Shellman Bluff Road, and The Market in Darien for retail purchase of fresh local seafood. Amenities located on this almost 2 acre property include a private pool, a private dock, shaded deck and plenty of outdoors for children to play and explore.br br Bring your boat! We can assist you in launching your boat at the private hoist or direct to nearby landing for back down launching. If you choose not to bring your boat, numerous local charter captains are available for fishing, casting and day trip excursions. Kayak rentals and tours are also available.br br Downtown Shellman Bluff is a mere 5 minutes away. There you will find a sleepy little fishing village with an excellent choice of dining options such as Hunter’s Café and Speed’s Kitchen along with Knotty's and Blackbeard Cove. Sapelo Hammock Golf Club is also located in Shellman Bluff. This challenging and scenic 18 hole course is carved out of the pristine coastal Georgia landscape. Enjoy breathtaking marsh views while play is routed through fairways lined with majestic live oak trees adorned with Spanish moss.brbr Plan a day trip to take the ferry to Sapelo Island and explore the Big House, the Lighthouse and the pristine beaches. The Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge to the north and Butler Island to the south are just minutes away for birding and various other types of wildlife viewing. For the history buffs start in Pine Harbor with the burial site of General McIntosh. Darien, founded in 1736, is mere 15 minute drive to the south. McIntosh County history dates back to the days of General James Oglethorpe. Some of the historic locations to visit in and around Darien are Fort King George, the waterfront Tabby Ruins and Ashantilly in Darien, not to mention the smallest Church in America at South Newport.br brWith Savannah 45 minutes to the north and St. Simons and Jekyll Islands 45 minutes to the south, day trips for shopping, sightseeing or to the beach can be an added bonus to your stay. Be prepared for the length of the dock (approximately 800 feet). The dock is in White Chimney River, just off Sapelo Sound before you reach the ocean. Bring your own boat - deep water at all tides. Community boat ramp available and a boat lift at Shellman Bluff Fish Camp. Enjoy fishing, crabbing, and cast netting on the dock. There is an immediate relaxed and welcoming feel as you are greeted with an expansive view over the estuary marshland. Only five minutes to a boat ramp, and minutes to the Sapelo Island Ferry, Darien, Butler Island and Shellman Bluff, the Marsh House makes it easy to enjoy the recreation and history of the area.br Choose the Captain’s Room or the Skipper’s Room- each decorated in an eclectic and comfortable style reflecting life lived close to the sea. Each has its own adjoining spacious bathroom with roomy, tiled, walk-in shower. From the kitchen and living area, glass sliding doors let in natural light and provide a stunning view. They open onto a large inviting screened-in porch. Enjoy morning coffee and evening socializing in the rocking chairs watching marsh herons and other sea birds fly over driftwood in the sea grasses. One of the special touches on the porch is the coffee table which is made from a ship hatch - crafted and passed down from the owner’s grandfather.br When not enjoying one of the many local fresh seafood restaurants, the galley type kitchen has everything you need including seafood feasting utensils. There is also plenty of outdoor cooking space for your daily catch. Grill or low country boil on the back deck which also boasts a gas fire pit that makes an instant and attractive evening campfire gathering spot. br Bring your boat! The Marsh House has a large back yard for easy turn around and several conveniently placed water hoses for rinsing your boat. There is an outdoor area for cleaning fish that can be stored in the outdoor chest freezer. The Marsh House is located in a safe and peaceful neighborhood conveniently positioned for duck and alligator hunters or for day trips to the beaches of St. Simons, Jekyll Island or Tybee. There is an abundance of delicious eatteries of all kinds with just a few minutes drive. Buy fresh shrimp, crab and other seafood - almost the minute it comes off the boat - only a mile up the road.
