The majority of nesting in Florida occurs between May 1st and October 31st. About 90% of all sea turtle nesting in the United States takes place on Florida's beaches, which means it is critical that residents and visitors alike do their part to ensure that sea turtles have a safe and successful nesting season. If you are staying at the condos along the beaches, please keep your porch lights off during this time of year so as not to confuse the hatching turtles; they head towards the moonlight to find the Gulf of Mexico waters and start their life. It is also important at the end of your beach day that you flatten any sand castles you’ve made or holes dug as they interfere with the turtles track to the water.brMANATEES ~ Sometimes you will see these gentle giants swimming along just off shore.
