The Boathouse Lodge sleeps 16 and is perfect for large groups and families.brbrFor renturning renters, the boat house is no longer standing, and was damaged in a 2023 storm.brThe main house is roughly 3,300 sq ft and has 5 bedrooms, 1 full bath, 2 three quarter baths and a powder room. It features a large gathering room highlighted by a dual sided gas fireplace, fully stocked kitchen, a second dining/living space and a large deck overlooking Lake Superior. The indoor dining room provides a new beautiful dining room table with ample seating. Additionally, you may choose to dine at the patio table, taking advantage of beautiful Lake Superior. The main cabin itself is a rustic log cabin with extraordinary character and history. The 110 year old home boasts tall ceilings and was originally used as the living barracks for the loggers on the island. The structure was beautifully expanded in the 1960’s to include the additional living space and kitchen. While sitting by the gas fireplace you will be surrounded by 200+ year old logs or enjoy a cup of coffee on the large deck looking out over Lake Superior.brIncluded in the rental is a separate, small sleeper cabin called the Dinghy. It is about 200 feet away from the main house, visible by a lit walking path. The house is perched at the top of the hill overlooking the beach, boathouse & lake. It sleeps 4 (1 queen and a twin trundle bed), has its own three quarter bathroom, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker & electric tea kettle. The 4 hatch windows allow for an extremely peaceful sleep with the sounds of Lake Superior nearby.brThe Boathouse Lodge has its own private and swimmable beach, great for families and small kids. Private beach access on Madeline Island is very rare. The property has over 350 ft of lakeshore of which over half is made up of a beautiful private beach. If you have ever swam on Madeline Island you will understand that this is the perfect swimmers beach. It boasts pure sand access into the water without the large rocks you frequently find on the island. The Boathouse and dock has created a haven of shallow swimming areas for all ages to enjoy, especially little ones. As of 2023 the boathouse was severly damaged in a storm and sunk. Welcome to The Moss Creek Cabin! This chalet style home is a beautiful, sunny base for all of your island adventures and kicking back to relax in the woods. There is a large deck and a screen porch to lounge and hear all of the wildlife noises. You will be just 2 miles outside of town - far enough to be in nature - but also easy to get around, including walking and biking everywhere. The cabin is on 5 acres of private woods, so you will have plenty of space!brbrSleeping Arrangements:brbrThe master bedroom is upstairs and has a queen bed and a full bed that is fashioned as a daybed, when not in use. This room sleeps 4.brbrThere are two bedrooms downstairs. The larger downstair bedroom has 2 queen beds to sleep 4 comfortably. The other downstairs room sleeps 2 with a queen bed and have an office setup with a desk. brbrThere is a daybed on the screen porch with a trundle - so weather permitting, up to 2 people can also sleep out there. That brings the sleeping area up to 12 people, but we keep it to 10 in the listing, so that you don't necessarily have to be sardines or sleep on the screen porch if the weather is exciting. If someone wants more privacy in a large group or a rustic experience we have an easy pop up tent that sleeps 4 that we would be happy to set up for you in the yard. Just let us know when you make the reservation!brbrPorch:brbrThe porch looks out into the forest and a small creek. We have outdoor lights, patio furniture for a large group to sit comfortably and umbrella for lounging in the shade.brbrFire Stuff:brbrWe have a nice big fire pit in the yard and an indoor wood stove for use in the colder months. We will leave you with wood to enjoy. *Please, please do not bring any wood with you from off the island* There are tree diseases that we don't have here on the island, or are we don't have very bad yet, and we want to keep the forest safe. We will supply you with wood and if you run out we have on island resources for you to gather wood from... including gathering fallen wood from the property!brbrKitchen:brbrThere is a whole kitchen setup here to bake, cook, whatever! This is our family cabin, so we have a lot of the kitchen stuff to live life. An oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, bean grinder, toaster, wine glasses, etc. We also have an herb garden and some fruiting trees, so help yourself to the lemons, kumquats, peaches, cherries, etc when they are ripe!brScreen Porch: brbrThe screen porch has a picnic table and daybed to lounge and enjoy the breeze on a warm day. Great place for playing cards or reading a book on the daybed. brbrInternet:brbrThe internet is super, duper fast! 750 Mbps. I work remotely from the house in the off season and never have any issues working from any room on video - even out of the porch & deck.brbrThe TV:brbrWe have a TV that has a Roku for watching all of the things.brbrDogs:brFeel free to bring your dogs.
