There is a public boat ramp 2 blocks away, and another boat ramp at Goose Island State Park. brbrQuiet, heavily treed area and only a 2 block walk to St. Charles Bay. The cottage is known for having wildlife sightings. It is a 1.2 mile walk or ride to the Big Tree (1000+ year old Live Oak) along the way you will experience wildlife, fishing, kayaking, biking, birdwatching, and possibly an alligator sighting. Endangered whooping cranes nest a block away along with so many more birds to see, so bring your camera. The Aransas Wildlife Refuge is directly across St. Charles Bay, and the refuge visitor center is a short drive away, and well worth the trip. This is one of the largest migratory bird paths in the United States. br brThe fishing is incredible in this area, because there is not as much pressure on the fish as further south from here.
