It's a breathtaking ride down the two-lane road with Gulf views on one side and the Sound on the other. Pack up for a Beach Day and stop at Opal Beach – a State Park on the Gulf Islands Seashore (you'll have to pay a small fee for the day), but there's hardly a crowd, lifeguards are on duty (during peak season), public restrooms, showers, and plentiful covered picnic tables are available. It's an absolute gem. There are other public beach access spots that are free along the drive too.br There are plentiful beach accesses and public parking near the pier and to the east of the pier with bathrooms and showers if you want to visit these beach spots too. Never know where the best shells are!br Visit Pensacola, Ft.
