Step into the living room with its charming beams and fireplace, walk through to the massive kitchen and dining room with a fully working Aga Rayburn wood stove, dining room table perfect for entertaining and a modern well equipped kitchen with entertaining and cooking in mind. We provide a Tassimo coffee machine, blender, standalone cake mixer, microwave and other kitchen necessities that make your stay a home away from home. Walk through the snug with its charming log burner and look at the horses in the stables at the back. Both snug and living room have flat screen TVs with streaming services such as Netflix, Prime, Disney +. The living room has an XBOX one with games and Xbox Pass available. Plenty of offline board games like Scrabble, Monopoly, puzzles etc for family fun are provided as well. Upstairs the bedrooms are spacious and have pretty views over the surrounding countryside. We have a large family bathroom with claw foot bath and power shower as well as an en suite bathroom. Watch the bunnies play outside, if you are lucky you may spot our red squirrels. It is set in Alston, the highest market town in England, situated in Cumbria on the borders of Durham and Northumberland, and near to the border of North Yorkshire and the Dales and the Scottish Borders. It also boasts to being the gateway to The Lake District, making it a perfect base to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty. The town has a steeply rising cobbled high street and a very distinctive market cross, which has a small fruit and vegetable stall four mornings a week. Alston has many independent shops, eateries, cafes and public houses, including a bakery which makes fresh bread and baked goods from scratch. There are plenty of pubs that serve delicious homemade cooked meals, and also specialise in real ales and always has guest ales available to taste. Other attractions are local workshops which sell award winning jams and chutneys and the artisan food shops where you can find a wide range of produce and an excellent range of cheeses, a lot are locally sourced, and accommodate dietary requirements and sell our local specialist Cumberland Mustard, made here in Alston.
