We had a wonderful Christmas spent at the Calf Shed. Mr and Mrs Younger were very welcoming and left us a few festive items when we arrived which was so lovely and thoughtful. We had some Christmas decorations and lights inside and out, which was so festive and we made full use of the hot tub on Christmas Day. There are some great walks on the Pennine way and with Alston village nearby, we had a great meal at the Cumberland Inn. The scenery is spectacular and the nearby Hartside Summit and the Moor had splatterings of snow when we arrived! All in all a beautiful spot to spend Christmas and we will defiantly return in the future! Thank you so much. X

Had a great stay at the Calf Shed even during a pandemic. It's about a 40 minute walk to Alston which has a few pubs and a Co-op for the essentials. It's an ideal spot to explore Cumbria. The Calf Shed is perfect for a couple, it was spotlessly clean, had sufficient cutlery and crockery and the owners were very friendly. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a lovely time at Harbut law cottages Alston , Tom and Susan the owners made us feel very welcome and were always on hand if we needed anything . We stayed in the Calf shed which was the smallest of the 4 cottages but was very comfortable and very clean , I would recommend staying at this friendly homely site  Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Very quiet location not far from a lovely little village, the cottage was clean and well laid out, the hot tub was very nice after walking all day. You will need a car and be prepared to travel a little to get to tourist attractions and hot spots. The hosts where magnificent very welcoming and gave good advice on little hidden gems. Would recommend and one day would like to return. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely place but you do need to drive to see surrounding area. A few scary hairpins in some of the roads. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
