Some information on the Laguna Madre: The Laguna Madre is a long, shallow, hypersaline lagoon along the western coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It is one of seven major estuaries along the Gulf Coast of Texas. The roughly 20-mile (32 km) long Saltillo Flats land bridge divides it into Upper and Lower lagoons joined by the Intracoastal Waterway, which has been dredged through the lagoon. There’s no outlet covers, and there maybe some reachable chemicals. Please child proof the home during your stay. Also please make sure children are accompanied up and down the stairs. Do not run up and down the stairs, use with caution while holding rails. While visiting Texas please be mindful we do have tropical bugs — mosquitoes, palmetto bugs, wood roaches, nuisance, etc. While we do actively treat for pests this does not eliminate the possibility that you will not see a critter during your stay. If the doors are left open, you will most likely allow creatures in the home. As much as we’d love a critter-free home, sometimes it’s just not possible. But someone will be sent to the home as fast as possible if you let us know that you’ve encountered anything that may alarm you! There are no boats, trailers or jet skies allowed.
