There is a large screened-in back porch with a view of the park and River that is perfect for hanging out and relaxing. We are surrounded by large farms and ranches so the views are very nice, and the feel is peaceful and relaxing! We have an electric BBQ pit located on the back porch for easy grilling and a charcoal pit in the side yard. The cabin also has a firepit and picnic table that guests can use for roasting marshmallows and star gazing at night! brbr brbrThe log cabin includes central air-conditioning/heating, a full bathroom with a hot water shower, and a full kitchen with range, microwave, oven, cooktop, coffee maker, full-sized fridge, pots, pans, dishes, and silverware. We have another location 2 miles downriver which is our tubing/kayaking takeout. Shuttles run back and forth during the high season every day and most weekends during the off-season (we do not run shuttles in the winter however and shuttles must be scheduled ahead of time). Our section of the river is very family-friendly and has no dangerous dams or rapids. It’s a great place for beginners to kayak and just about anyone can tube. We provide free life jacket use for non or weak swimmers. brbr brbrWe are located in the country, but we are easy to get to. There isn't much in the immediate area as far as restaurants and shopping so it's best to bring your food and plan to cook and BBQ. Opa's Haus is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home. Three bedrooms downstairs each have a queen bed. Upstairs is one large bedroom with 4 twin beds. So the house can easily sleep 10 people. The house was originally built in 1860 by German immigrants who used 'fachwerk' (half timber) construction with which they were familiar in Germany. Some of these original walls have been exposed to show the structural beams held together with hand-whittled pegs instead of nails. Between the beams you can also see the handmade bricks. Even though built before Abraham Lincoln was President, the house now has all the modern conveniences of central heat and air conditioning and kitchen appliances. In the living room is a large TV with satellite service. There is also a large outdoor charcoal grill. The spacious front porch is the perfect place to relax after a day of activities - a good place to reconnect with family and friends. If your group is larger than 10 we also have 3 other houses on the property which could accommodate a family reunion. The location is the perfect combination of peaceful country living and access to attractions in New Braunfels, Seguin or San Marcos. All 3 towns are just 10 minutes from Opa's Haus.
