Historic Sunday House, quiet but conveniently located to the town's attractions within walking distance. Well-equipped kitchen for cooking needs as well as an outdoor barbecue grill. Secluded back yard includes an outdoor fireplace with comfortable Adirondack chairs for relaxing lounging. High-speed wifi internet provided, along with cable TV. Decorated in a sophisticated style reminiscent of Architectural Digest.brbrFlagstone Sunday House was built around 1900. The German Emigration Company issued lot number 369 to Maria Elisa Dattner in the latter part of 1846. The house was completely restored and decorated for use as a bed and breakfast cottage in 2011. While respecting all of the historical importance of the house, no stone has been left unturned when it comes to providing guests with all the touches today's travelers enjoy.brbrYou will appreciate the smart style and attention to detail as soon as you open the front door The front room, an enclosed sleeping porch, offers two built-in twin beds, perfect for turning a trip for two into a getaway for three or four! Next you enter the gracious den which boasts sophisticated style reminiscent of Architectural Digest! Above the drawing table you will find a unique touch…the white guest board, a large framed artist's message board for you to share a drawing, a kind word, a poem or just a passing thought with the owners and future guests. What a fun touch, particularly since the owner is an artist!brbrThe downstairs also offers a full kitchen and dining area, plus a bathroom with a charming tiled shower. Upstairs is the main king-sized bedroom, clothed in a soothing white color scheme. The bathroom for this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs. (Keep in mind that part of this home's charm is its multi-level design…BUT that does mean authentic, slightly narrow stairs. Only reserve this cottage if you are comfortable with stairs.)brbrAs fabulous as all this is, the thing that will bring you back time and time again to Flagstone Sunday House may be the amazing back yard. Off the dining room, you will find a large deck with sitting areas and a sweeping staircase leading down to the ivy-covered lawn. Relax in the cool weather with our limestone fireplace. Take a little time from life's cares to walk among the branches, watch the birds, and put your feet up for a bit With all these great amenities plus an excellent location just one block from Main Street and 3-4 blocks to the heart of shopping, Flagstone Sunday House is a treasured retreat!

Broadway Cottage | Convenient Country Location

Cain City was founded as one of the stops along the Fredericksburg and Great Northern Railway. It was a thriving town and until just about 40 years ago part of the old bank was still standing just a short distance from Broadway Cottage and Hill Cottage.brbrLocated only a few miles from Fredericksburg this delightful quaint, little cottage boasts views of Fredericksburg. The yard has a wonderful array of birds. A rock patio in the back yard has comfy seating with a charcoal barbecue grill. The heavy growth of trees in the back is great for attracting birds, deer and other fun wildlife. brbrYour hosts also own Hill Cottage, which is next door and moved Broadway Cottage to this site in the late 1990's. Wood floors, fun yet elegant window treatments are found though out the house along with wonderful, playful rugs that brighten the rooms. The living/dining room offers an antique table for four and a colorful sofa mixed with an array of designs and colors. Two other chairs are placed perfectly for watching the Direct TV or just to enjoy visiting. There are two bedrooms both with queen-size beds topped with quilts. Two bathrooms offer showers. A comfy reading chair is found in the front bedroom along with an antique armoire. brbrA completely equipped country kitchen has a range/oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffeemaker. A small table with chairs is also found in the kitchen.brbrPlease Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

The timbers were dismantled, numbered, brought to Texas, and reconstructed on the current site shortly after 2000. The right room or pen currently used as the dining room, likely dates from the late 1700's and the left pen, the current living room, is guessed to be added on during the 1800's. This type of double pen structures was also known as a saddle bag. The dining room's south wall boasts an old door, likely the original door to the original one room home. The living room has a spacious fireplace (seasonal use only) with a crane which accommodates hanging pots for cooking. brThe space between the pens known as the dog trot was typically covered but left open to the elements on each side. Dot trots originally were outdoor living spaces between the pens used for under cover storage and a place for the dogs to bed down. When rebuilt, the dog trot, or open area between the pens , was enclosed to incorporate a functional stairway to the upper level 2 bedrooms and a bath which were also added at that time. brbrAs part of the reconstruction on its current site, the shed roof was attached to the west side of the house to include a bedroom which adjoins the living room, the bath, and the large farm kitchen. Another addition was the east-facing long front porch, which provides a pleasant place to sit on mild afternoons and evenings, affording pastoral views of the countryside. brbrThe floors throughout are old wide floor boards milled from the early beams that glow with decades of life being lived and loving care. brThe gardens surrounding the structure display many native and perennial plants. Diverse species of birds, especially hummingbirds, are regular visitors to the site. The adjacent pasture is home to several dozen sheep and donkey (Ida-Belle). brbrThis historic and restful home is situated on 2 acres 8 miles west of Fredericksburg, Tx and is frequently enjoyed by many domestic and international visitors. brbrPlease Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC) Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night.
