Enjoy water sports, lake cruises, bike trails, hiking, golf, antique shops, museums, snow skiing and nature's beauty.brbrbrHistory:: The Gumprecht House sits on property once part of Fort Sherman, founded in 1878 to protect settlers, one of a string of forts built in response to the 1876 Custer massacre. After the fort was disbanded, the property was auctioned off. It was then subdivided in 1905. The lot was purchased in 1906 by the Nevers family and the house built in 1907. It was the first private beachfront house, had the pick of the lots and, consequently, an unsurpassed view. For many years the house was occupied, then owned, by the Graue family who graciously allowed the Gumprechts and others to use the beach. The Gumprecht family acquired the property in 1977 and extensively remodeled in 1981. Elderly grandchildren of the original owner knocked on the door in 1982 to tour the changes and warmly approved. One of them had actually been born in the original master bedroom. They had all passed by the house on annual summer visits to Coeur d'Alene but had not been in the house since before 1920.brbrBike Storage: Bikers should like our property as there is a side entrance that proceeds directly to the finished basement which is suitable for keeping their bikes. There is a bathroom and shower in the basement as well that could be useful for runners or others. The 24-mile Centennial trail passes directly in front of the house. And, yes, we have a large pasta pot.brbrFamily room & game room: To provide a break from the elegant main floor spaces the back porch was enclosed years ago, creating a casual and comfortable family area just off the kitchen and breakfast nook. Our 90 year old cottage has 3 bedrooms, two baths, a sizable kitchen and large living area; over 1,700sqft. brbrTo accommodate all types of parties, the house includes one king size bed, one full size bed, a futon, a queen convertible bed, three twin-sized beds, as well as an open loft area. The area upstairs has low ceilings and is especially adored by younger children. The outdoor deck overlooking Tubbs and the water includes a hot tub and barbecue. brbrOur 90 year old cottage has 3 bedrooms, and two baths. The sizable fully stocked kitchen and large living area both look out over the lake. Our little lake cottage has been extended over time to over 1,700sqft. The large outdoor deck overlooks the lake and Tubbs Hill; it includes a hot tub, dining table and barbecue. Located in the historic Garden District, it is only a short walk to Sherman Ave, the center of downtown, the resort and the shores of Lake Coeur D'Alene. Two blocks north of the house is Midtown, an up and coming area of CDA, that has several restaurants, coffee and ice cream shops and great shopping.brbrHighlights of our home are many. The house has three stories with sleeping accommodations on all three levels. We have a NEW large rooftop deck which has access from two of the upstairs bedrooms as well as from the kitchen breezeway. There are chaise lounges for sunbathing and an outdoor dining table for summer dining and loveseats to relax in and watch the comings and goings on the street below! The small backyard is fenced and is perfect for kids or playing a game of bocce.brbrOn the upper level of the home there are two large bedrooms with one queen and one king bed, a third bedroom offers a full size bed. All bedrooms have flat screen televisions. Two of the bedrooms have sliding doors out to the deck-perfect for that morning cup of coffee! The bathroom has been remodeled to include granite counter top, stone tiles and a jetted Jacuzzi tub.brbrThe main floor is equipped with a large gourmet kitchen with eating space in both the kitchen and dining room.
