We loved Hawaii and returned often, to The Kulakane and to other properties and islands. We kept coming back to the Kulakane as our favorite and. finally, we bought our own home here. We love it and treasure our weeks in Maui every year. Gene is a retired health educator and I own a real estate brokerage in Portland where we help people buy and sell homes every day.brbrWhat we love most is that our condo is right on the water, facing the ocean and steps away from a beach walk. We like being on the second floor for privacy and security and a more direct view of the water. We would not want to spend our precious days in Paradise anywhere but ocean/beach front. Why else be here We visit the large resorts nearby for cocktails and dinner on occasion, and gladly return to our smaller, more intimate and ocean view condo that put us right on the water. The ocean proximity is what we come for first and foremost!brbrWe also like to cook and to be at home, so the kitchen is fully equipped with all the useful and necessary tools. The lanai is our open-air living room. The view is awesome. We dine here, play games and read, work on our computers, and entertain friends. Aloha! Our condo complex was not damaged by the Lahaina fire. All the beach and golf services are open. Ka'anapali Whalers Village restaurants and stores are open. Areas north such as Kahana, Napili and Kapalua are also open for dining and golf and were not impacted. Several favorite restaurants have relocated. Grocers are open and of course the beach is as beautiful as ever. Whaler’s Village offers a variety of stores and great restaurants. Including Monkeypod Kitchen, Hula Grill, and Leilani's. Kaanapali Royal guests enjoy a resort golf discount. Our top floor unit is easily accessible since the parking lot is on the 2nd floor level.brWe are a set of steps up one level to great views. The downstairs entrance takes you into the living areas including a large living room, fully equipped kitchen, dining room with seating for 6, and laundry with full size washer/dryer. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa, 65 HDTV, free fast wifi internet, DVD, and great views. One bedroom with attached full bathroom, queen bed, ceiling fan, and private lanai is also downstairs. (Note about parking/mountain side guest bedroom. You may read reviews from other Royal condos saying this room is noisy. We have enclosed the lanai off this bedroom with double pane glass, but kept the original sliding glass door. The Old Lahaina Town is closed but the rest of West Maui including the beaches, shops, grocers and restaurants are all OPEN. Locals and businesses (and we vacation rental owners) are all appreciative of your business. **brbr**Airfares to Maui (and rental cars!) are DIRT CHEAP. Book your stay today.**brbr** Hale Ono Loa condos DO NOT have AC. But the trade breezes through the HaleOnoLoa407 are great.**brbr** In 2023, the condo was updated with en trend light grey paint and white trim, new white drapes, new lighting in the dining area and kitchen, new/modern coffee table, modern end tables and bedside tables, new fresh white bedside lamps, new side chair, new accessories, new patio table and 2 Adirondack style chair on the lanai. There are also added outlets for all of your chargers. **brbrDirect and expansive ocean views, a full view of the island of Lana'i, all the colors of the ocean, spectacular sunsets, beautiful swaying palm trees, views up and down the coastline and reef-surfing sea turtles are just a few of the daily sights you'll enjoy from this top floor, oceanfront condo located just past the resort community of Ka'anapali. Situated on the ocean side of Lower Honoapiilani Road, and just three units in from the shoreline, you will fall asleep and wake up to the soothing sounds of the ocean. You'll love the cool trade winds blowing right through the unit.brbrThis renovated condo features an 18 foot balcony (aka lanai) overlooking the ocean, a full kitchen with custom sapele wood cabinetry, granite counter tops, an under mount sink, all stainless appliances, travertine marble tile floors throughout and Hawaii style furnishings. The chic, gut renovated bathroom has a custom sapele wood vanity, a granite counter top with an under mount sink, easy-to-step-in shower and ample storage. Clever pocket, sliding, louvered doors between the bedroom (with a king sized bed) and living area can be left open to feel the trade winds or closed for maximum privacy. Several updates have been made in 2022 and 2023 including new light grey paint, new lighting throughout and some new (less island-y!) furniture. brbrThough it may not seem like it, being on the top floor (level four), makes a difference view-wise and trade wind-wise. Other units on lower floors don't compare to HaleOnoLoa407.brbrBetween roughly November and April from the private lanai or the communal sundeck, you will be treated to a spectacular sight of the annual humpback whale migration. These awesome creatures come to Maui from Alaska every year to give birth and one of their favorite locations to do so is right out front of the condo complex in the wide channel between West Maui and the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i. In the peak months of January to March it's not uncommon to spot dozens of whales blowing and breaching directly from the lanai.brbrHale Ono Loa is a mid-century, low-rise condo complex that underwent a complete exterior renovation in 2010. Guests are able to enjoy a shared pool surrounded by tall palm trees and beautiful tropical gardens filled with fragrant colorful blooms all year long, direct access to the ocean, and two sundecks one at the pool level and the other alongside the ocean . Each guest can park one car in the onsite parking lot. There are shared gas BBQ grills and a shuffle board court. Each condo is privately owned and independently rented. The ownership is a mix of folks who rent out their places full or part time and some who live there full time. It's a peaceful, more laid back alternative to the large 'resort' complexes but still conveniently located to everything.brbrNote 1: This unit is located in the building 'perpendicular' to Lower Honoapiilani Rd., and not in the building that runs parallel. The bedroom windows of the units in the building that run parallel (unit numbers ending in '10' through '17') all face towards Honoapiilani Rd. and the parking lot of the complex. In those units you will hear cars zooming by and car doors opening/closing day and night. The units in the perpendicular building (unit numbers ending in '01' through '09'), and especially units closer to the water, like 407, do not have road or parking lot noise. You'll only hear the ocean and the swaying palm trees. There is no AC in this unit or any unit at the Hale Ono Loa condos. The added advantage of being in the perpendicular building, and especially on the top floor like #407, is direction the units face. The orientation of these units give you optimal trade winds blowing straight through compared to the units in the parallel building. This unit was gut renovated. Many of the units in the Hale Ono Loa complex have not been renovated. brbrNote 2: There is NO AC in this unit or any unit in the two main buildings at the Hale Ono Loa. There is a strong ceiling fan in the bedroom and an extra floor fan. If you are sensitive to humidity and heat, this MAY NOT be the best complex for you. Please feel free to message me any questions before booking.brbrNote 3: The pool is open from 9am to 10pm daily. Depths range from 3' to 9'. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. THERE IS NO LIFE GUARD. You swim at your own risk.brbrNote 4: Fast, stable WiFi is included. The provider is Spectrum.
