A raised beach cottage set in the dunes and right on the beach at Smith Point. The house deck is steps from the ocean and about 3 hundred ft. from the beautiful Madaket bay which is great for young children and calm swimming when the ocean gets rough. The cottage is surrounded by Audubon and conservation land that leads a mile and a half to the Point. Great for taking a Jeep onto the beach or walking to fish or just explore. We have seen Bald Eagles, Seals, Whales, Snowy Owls,, Osprey, Hawks and much more of nature. 000 The house has an eat in kitchen open to the living room sitting area. There are three bedrooms and one bath with a shower. There is also an outdoor hot and cold shower on the deck. We have a washer and dryer in the house. The house well water tends to be be salty so we supply multi 5 gallon Poland Spring water containers. The water situation has not been an issue for ourselves or past renters but is something to consider.The raised deck is on two sides of the house with beautiful views of the ocean, beach, bay and sunsets. On the deck is a grill, a teak table that accommodates eight, two Adirondack chairs, a high backed stool and a bench. We also have an outside seating area at the high point in front of our house on our dune which we affectionately refer to as The Beach Club. It is a great gathering place for sunset cocktails. It consists of outdoor club chairs and low tables.

Behind the walls lined with reclaimed wood and underneath the wide plank floors, it is all modern!brbrOriginally built in the 1800s, no exact date known, just as a single room fisherman’s shanty, it was dismantled and reconstructed right here in 2019. Though we added more rooms and upper floor during the reconstruction, it remains a humble, yet luxurious and comfortable abode. brbrThe living space of the cottage is very open, taking advantage of vast water views while bringing in the salt air and wonderful light through a double french door that spills the daily life open onto an enormous floating deck (400 sq. ft) in the back. From here, step on your private dock with a paddleboard (in season and offered as-is and at your own risk), and the world is your oyster.brbrThe open pro kitchen is extremely functional with a Viking stove, large Smeg fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer, deep farmhouse sink, and open shelving. Cast iron pans and clay pots. Plates and bowls came from Brimfield over 15 years ago and have traveled with us till now they found their forever home. The lamp above the sink is salvaged from a warehouse in Poland, a country especially close to our hearts. brbrThe living room, the original “single room” from the 1800s, with wooden ceiling beams, features a built-in daybed (standard twin) for storytelling or napping and an antique chest that was a gift from a dear friend many years ago. brbrThe dining area marries all open spaces for catch-all gatherings. A short 200 foot walk through the moors gets you to the top of the stairs that lead down to your own virtually private stretch of beach. This beach offers good swimming and, if you bring your rod, a good sized fish can be caught anywhere along this stretch.brbrThere is a large veranda in front of the cottage with lots of seating and a freestanding hammock. It's a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and soak in the view.brbrThe main house has two bedrooms upstairs with a shared full bathroom. One of the bedrooms has two twin beds and the other one has a queen. Both upstairs bedrooms have beautiful views of the ocean and you will fall asleep to the sound of the waves. The main floor has a full kitchen, a dining area with an old wooden dining table and a bright, sunny living room with casual, comfortable seating. There is also a large bedroom with two twin beds and a half bathroom on the main floor. The house has central air & Wifi throughout the house. We are just a 5 minute picturesque walk to the center of town, nestled in the beautiful historic district of Nantucket. Our street is a one way and very quiet, situated between Orange and Union Streets. Often referred to by Nantucketers as one of their favorite streets. We are also a two minute walk to the beautiful Francis Street harbor and Great Harbor Yacht Club.brbrThe front portion of the home has been renovated and dates back to 1850. All of the bathrooms have been renovated and are sleek and modern. The bright kitchen features a new white Carrara marble island, Sub Zero refrigerator, wine refrigerator & Wolf gas range. It's stocked with high-end cookware, loads of kitchen tools & accessories. As well, there are plenty of platters, bowls, placemats for entertaining. There is a large table for family dining that seats 8 people. There are 3 queen bedrooms upstairs that share an updated bathroom with shower. One of the bedrooms you must access through a front bedroom. All bedrooms have custom built-in drawers and closets. The large bathroom with shower off the living room downstairs serves as a perfect additional bathroom to use when several people are getting ready to go out. The outdoor shower is also a favorite summer alternative! brbrThe large brick patio is perfect for outdoor dining and relaxing on the new Kingsley Bates outdoor lounge furniture. There is a large gas grill for creating family meals. We have parking available for 1 car. There is a small side yard that leads to the outdoor shower and stairs to the basement. Union Street is a one-way street heading into Main Street, Nantucket. Walkable from the ferries and easy to find from the Airport. Two blocks to the bus station and the wharves. You can roll out of bed, drink a cuppa outside on the patio, do some yoga on the grass, and then catch a bus to go anywhere on the island. Stay for a few nights or months, and you will want to be back.brbrThe Barn is located at the end of the shelled driveway. To access the kitchen door, walk to the grass side of The Barn. The electronic pad works well, alleviating the need for keys.brbrIn 2024, a renovation was completed, upgrading almost every space in the Barn—the new flooring to hold space for the new furniture. My favorite is the full-size sofa that pulls out with a blow-up mattress. Or, a marble top round dining table with four armchairs is in the corner.brbrThe clean look comes from the newly skimmed and painted walls and ceiling holding the new lights. The HVAC cools and heats well. The internet is strong for work and play. The television is mounted to link your home apps and streaming platform.brbrThe brand-new kitchen is beautiful. White marble counters flow over the counters with a white farmer's sink and the four-burner stove. The U-shaped kitchen gives enough room for a few workstations. The full fridge is tucked in the corner. White cabinets above and below highlight the gold streaks through the marble. A combination of convection and microwave makes everything easy.brbrThere are five other windows around the great room, and the window over the sink lets in a lot of light. For privacy, the Roman shades come down.brbrThe open floor plan makes this a great room. The sofa, oversized swivel chair, and two reading chairs create a lovely conversational arrangement around a coffee table. Reading lights are strategically placed.brbrThe circular dining table is in the corner behind the couch, looking past the roses to the white-shelled driveway. A full-sized hutch holds games and books, with space for your items. The black iron circular staircase has wooden slats that look like a piece of art and are functional.brbrThe staircase leads to a front parlor with two low seats that convert into futon-type beds. An antique cabinet holds more books and games. The king bedroom has a dresser, side tables, lamps, and a nice closet. The room has an HVAC system.brbrThe twin bedroom has two twins, a bedside table, and a small hutch for personal items. The closet has enough space. Each bedroom has air conditioning and heat. The king and twin bedrooms have lovely light and beautiful art, including the linens.brbrIt is a five-minute walk to Main Street and all of Nantucket's downtown, two blocks to the bus station and the harbor. No one has ever complained.brbrbrOver the years, we have shared our home with first-time VRBO guests and travelers worldwide. We also have three rentals sharing the property. Plus, there is access to the harbor, public boat docks, swimming spots, and sea air. Nantucket air and light are just magical. brbrThis property is on the fashionable one-way street heading into town named Union Street. The property has three separate rental opportunities, which we called The Front House, The Middle House, and The Barn. The Front House faces Union Street; the Middle is behind and is separated by what I call a 'Hallway of Doors.' The Front and Middle houses have separate rooflines and entrances. They are independent listings unless you want to join them. The barn is a stand-alone building—reach out to rent it in one, two, or all three houses.brbrThe Front house has Nantucket Grey cardboard, white corner boards with a black door, and roses climbing both sides of the handmade cedar trellis. The front and side gardens are full of hydrangeas, roses, and other surprises that pop up throughout the growing season. The lock box is on the backside of the house - Walk down either side of the house to the grassed area with the four Adirondack chairs, picnic table, and grill. The landing with two steps is tucked between both houses, with the lockbox on the left side. The first door is unlocked and opens to the 'hallway of doors.' Your kitchen door is to the right and is lockable. You can also drive and park down the shelled driveway and enter this way. It is just a tight corner so the front door will be smoother with big suitcases. brbrThe grassed area has four Adirondack chairs, a grill, and a small picnic table for both the Middle and Front Houses. I have also hung four beach chairs and umbrellas on the Front House for your use. The backpack cooler can be found in the house for you. The shelled driveway brings you to the parking space you will use; it faces the fence. The barn is on the left side of the driveway. It is a stand-alone House. ID# 3421106brbrThe Hallway of Doors is valuable as it holds two closets for cleaning supplies, umbrellas, grocery bags, and other useful things; it also provides space between the houses. Your kitchen door is on the far right, and the Middle House kitchen door is on the far left. brbrThe Front House has large windows with great light. The steep center staircase, which has a railing, separates the two living rooms. Each has seating arrangements for chatting, reading, and game-playing, and one has a pull-out sofa bed. brbrThere is a queen bedroom on the back side of the house. It is a small but impressive bedroom with a new mattress, headboard, and sitting chair. The art is one of a kind. The bathroom outside this room has a glassed-in stone shower, vanity, and toilet. Outside of the bathroom is a stackable washer and dryer. Extra towels and linens, the iron and board, manuals, and supplies are stored in the closet across from this hallway.brbrThe full kitchen has a high-top table with stools around it. The equipment is new, with the electric stove having a built-in air fryer. The silver, extra-large sink faces three windows looking over the shelled driveway. We do not have a microwave. For coffee, we have an electric kettle and a French press. The white dishes and glasses live on open wooden shelves. In the new cabinets below are the cooking equipment and room for groceries. A white marble table with four straight-back chairs separates the kitchen from the living room with a television. brbrThe steep center staircase has one railing and a reminder to 'DUCK' at the top. Once in the rooms, the two bedrooms at the top of the stairs are large. One has a queen bedroom with a dresser, and the second has two new twin x-long beds and a nice closet. Each bedroom has blackout shades, extra linens, air conditioning, and heat with a unique feel. brbrArt, antiques and the sea air maintain New England's charm.
