House of the Rising Sun

Laie, Hawaii, United States

Per Oahu law, all bookings must be for a minimum of 29 nights. If you plan to stay less than 30 days, that's OK but your booking will still be for 30 days per Oahu Law and the monthly rental fee will NOT be pro-rated based on the actual number of days you plan to occupy the house. Please read more below about Oahu's law for vacation home rentals.brbrbrOur house is uniquely situated inside the beautiful Kokololio State Beach Park and the treats guest to spectacular sun rises as you see in the pictures.br brABOUT OUR HOUSE:brOur house is located in Laie, which offers a lot of relaxation in an unspoiled part of Hawaii that remains very Polynesian in culture (i.e. very warm and friendly). The Polynesian Cultural Center, Oahu's most visited attraction, is just 1 mile up the road.brbrThe location of the house is unique. The house sits inside a beautiful state beach park. We have a 120-degree view of the ocean from the large covered deck. The only thing between our house and the beach is 40 steps across the grass field.brbrWe call it the House of the Rising Sun as most mornings you will wake up to spectacular sun rises.brbrAlso, the beach easily ranks as one of the best in Hawaii. You will find yourself taking spectacular morning and evening beach walks. Because our beach is behind a reef, there are no big waves so you can swim year-round.brbrTo our left, for 3/4 mile there are no houses along the beach. Just tropical park trees. You really feel like you are on a tropical island. The beach is wide and the ocean is all sandy bottom. To our right there is great snorkeling and there is a popular local ocean playground the locals call the Alligator Pond because a series of rocks in the water look like an alligator from afar. Kids love the pond because the water is shallow and warm so even toddlers can play without any waves (which are caught by those rocks). They get fascinated by the little tropical fish swimming around in the pond.brbrAlso, to the left there are great areas for bigger kids (9+) to safely boogie board as the waves are just big enough to get some nice rides.brbrThe best feature of the house is the large deck which is covered by the upstairs part of the house. Because trees to our right shield the house from Ocean winds you can enjoy every breakfast, lunch and dinner out on the deck overlooking the park and ocean. That is really relaxing!brbrOAHU VACATION RENTAL LAW EXPLAINEDbrOahu's government requires the following statement in every ad: This property may not be rented for less than 30 consecutive days! The monthly rental fee will not be reduced or increased based on the number of days the rental is used.brbrQuestion: What does that mean Can we rent your house for 10 days brAnswer: NO! You can stay at our house for 10 nights, or 15, 21 etc. But your booking MUST be for at least 30 days and the cost is the rent for the full month. brbrQuestion: Why can I not just pay for 10 days brAnswer: Because the Oahu law on vacation rentals requires that all rental contracts are for 30 or more days. So the rent has to be an amount per month, not per night. brbrQuestion: Pay for a full month plus tax sounds like we would waste money if we only want to stay 10 nights.brAnswer: Just look at other properties right by the beach with 3 or 4 bedrooms and you will see that our rate is far lower than most of the others.

Listening to the waves at night meant we could leave our sound machines off. And we loved using the location as a jumping off point to explore the whole north shore and down south to Kailua. brbrWe are pretty big vacationers, and across many years of marriage and having kids and working, we have always done big vacations. None of them top this place. The sunrise view every morning while waking up with the roosters is absolutely to die for. The beach is gorgeous, relatively private, and the windward breeze keeps the home cool at night and pretty dang decent through the daytime too. The place was stocked just perfectly. She has the things you need, and it is clean and clearly managed with pride, that's the best way to put it. She is really responsive and helpful, the neighbors were all friendly and nice. The very best part, this is real Hawaii. When you go get your coffee and breakfast in the morning, it will be with the locals, and they take great pride in their culture, and it is a blast to sink in and experience that culture. I cannot recommend a stay here with any higher confidence in saying you will absolutely love it.brbrIf you're looking for a peaceful, safe, private location with an amazing beach and neighborhood this is the place for you. The modest, comfortable accommodations meet all of your needs. If you want to relax, cook your own food and live life at your own pace, away from the hustle and bustle of resorts, this is the place to be. There is a private backyard, an amazing view from the kitchen window, the sounds of the surf 24/7, and turtles bobbing in the sea. We loved it and will be back!brbrOur most relaxing vacation! We loved being right on the beach in Laie and could snorkel every day. We saw 13 turtles in a total of about 2 hours of snorkeling right in front of the property. The house was very clean and it was easy to find things. There were extra products that came in handy, like body wash and aloe :) We walked to eat at seven brothers and get food from Foodland. We also cooked food at the house and watched shows in the evenings. The fans and shade from trees kept the area cool, so we didn't overheat. And that's coming from two people who live in Alaska!brbrPlease Note:brYou will be staying on the north end of the island where infrastructure is not always robust. We are not responsible for weather-related events, natural disasters, construction, and any resulting service outages (e.g. power, water, internet) that are beyond our control. No refunds or compensation will be provided for disruptions caused by such events.brbrDuring such event, we will do our best to assist you; however, for any service outages or issues beyond our control, we may need to refer you for further support.brbrTMK: 5-5-011:0700000brTA-021-667-9936-01R
