Okehampton, Okehampton, United Kingdom

Secluded Luxury Holiday Retreat surrounded by Forest and Farmland with stunning views towards Dartmoor.brbrThis is a brand new lodge with all the comforts of home including central heating, smart TV and free WIFI, but in a truly peaceful setting having direct access to Lydford Forest where you can walk down to the river and explore the Forest.brbrIt will make the perfect holiday retreat for one couple or two couples or a family because it is spacious and carefully designed for modern day living.brbrThe National Trust's Lydford Gorge is just a stone's throw away where you can see the White Lady Waterfall and the Granite Way Cycle Path just up the road which is ideal for the cycling enthusiasts. Dartmoor is on the doorstep with it's huge open moorland to explore.brbrThe Lodge is in an elevated position giving wonderful views and has all the luxuries you would expect at home. This is not just a holiday lodge but one that was built and designed for park living which means that the insulation is for all year round, not just for the summer. brbrThe main bedroom has a king sized bed with views across our field and has a large ensuite shower room with a walk in shower. The second bedroom has a larger bed which can be made into 2 singles if requested and there is a house bathroom with a full sized bath and overhead shower.brbrThis generous sized lodge is tastefully decorated with a large wooden beam in the living room and a fireplace with an electric wood burner as the focal point. It is spacious with a fully fitted kitchen, a dining area and 2 sets of double patio doors at the front which open out onto the decking where you can dine outside and watch the incredible sunsets right in front of you across the field and trees.brbrLydford itself has a Farm Shop and a pub/restaurant called The Castle Inn as well as The Dartmoor Inn, both of which are renowned for excellent local food. There are a number of other superb pubs and restaurants in the area including the Mary Tavy Inn and the Peter Tavy Inn to name but a few.brbrThe lodge is accessed along a private forest track bordered by forest on one side and farmland on the other. We are the only property at the end of this private track so it is very peaceful and quiet with only the sound of the birds. We are surrounded on 3 sides by Lydford Forest with direct access only a few metres from the Lodge where you can walk on hard tracks down to the river where otters live. Red deer roam the forests and frequently come onto our land so you may even see one walking by early morning or in the field next to the Lodge.brbrOn the opposite bank of the river is the National Trust's Lydford Gorge which can be accessed from the village and that is really worth a visit.brbrSometimes you will be able to see our 4 horses from the Lodge as they wander past in front of you in the field and as you can imagine there are lots of squirrels here!brbrWe are well situated in Devon with easy access to the the North Coast and Exmoor as well as the South Coast. Cornwall is only a short drive away with the North Coast being the nearest although it's easy to go further west along the A30 to Bodmin Moor and the miles of beautiful coastline that Cornwall has to offer.brbrThe Lodge is situated on the opposite side of the valley to Dartmoor where you can explore this huge landscape and all the villages on it. You will see the Dartmoor ponies grazing alongside the sheep and cattle out on the Moors so if you like walking or cycling then this is the ideal place to be. There is a trekking centre in the next village so if you would like to explore Dartmoor on horseback it is only a 10 minute drive away.brbrWith the Okehampton to Exeter railway line open again it is easy to take the train and admire the wonderful views along the way.brWe are truly lucky to live in such a calming and peaceful place being so close to nature and wildlife. It's easy to switch off from modern day life here due to the sense of calm and tranquility but it is also easy to explore Devon and Cornwall at your leisure.brbrWe have a no-smoking and no vaping policy inside the lodge.brSorry but no pets are allowed.brAll guests must be 13 or over.brbrKim and Bernard are experienced hosts and would love to share their beautiful surroundings with you.brbrbrbrbr
