brIf you’re coming through Sheridan, grab this chance to stay in an updated and inviting riverside cottage on Big Goose Creek. If you’re traveling solo or with a few others, this property offers a quiet, park-like, private setting. It is centrally located in the community situated two blocks from Kendrick Park and six blocks from downtown. brbrIt has the feel of a more rural setting thanks to the many large trees on the banks of Big Goose Creek, which runs right through the back yard--about 15 feet out the back door. brbrWhen you first come inside, you are greeted by a sunbathed living room decorated with vibrant furniture arranged around the bay window. There are a few books and pamphlets about the area in the hutch across the room . The living room is the heart of this rental, spanning approximately 14X18 feet. The sliding glass door at the end goes straight to the adjacent deck.brbrThe u-shaped kitchen area is fully equipped with the appliances and utensils you need to whip up a home-cooked meal while you’re on the road. Meals can be taken at the high-top table in the kitchen, which has large windows on two sides that overlook the creek. If you have a few guests, the dining area at the far end of the living room can extend out to seat six people. The deck over the creek is nice for a morning cup of coffee, or drinks, dinner, late night conversations,in the company of ducks. brbrLooking back toward the inside of the house from the breakfast corner, you’ll see a narrow hallway. The doorways are precisely 24 inches wide, the walls 30.brbrThe kitchen and bathroom are newly remodeled for comfort and space efficiency. You’ll find new windows through the main floor of the house.brbrThe compact bathroom is stocked with a starter supply of toiletries. The showerhead is fitted with a chlorine filter, so you might notice improved hair and skin health after a few rinses. brbrThe bedroom is set up with comfort and convenience in mind. Jet-setters and globetrotters will find the staple suitcase stand, dresser, chair, bathrobe, iron and board. If you get cold there is an extra blanket in the closet. If you get warm there will be an air conditioner in the window. These are installed only when outside temperatures are high. In the summer this part of Wyoming has a slight breeze that makes for cool nights that are more appreciated when windows are open at night and closed during the day.brbrThe sleeping room in the basement is very cozy, cool in summer warm in winter. On-site laundry is also in the basement.brbrThe upper level of this house has very small but adequate kitchen, a large bedroom/sitting/eating room, a bedroom with 2 twin beds and a bath. The Bighorn Region is a vacation destination for the discriminating visitor, and this rustic cabin on the eastern face of the Bighorns is filled with charm and located near Sheridan, Wyoming. brbrOwners occupy the basement apartment (onsite but separate and out of sight). Single group renters get main floor, upper floor and loft. Brand-new, huge, astounding deck and laundry room are shared space. Additional bedroom may be available upon request at additional charge, especially in June and October. Note: we will not accept rental requests longer than fourteen days.brbrDogs and cats live on the owner level and unpenned outside. Adventurous guests only! This cabin was built by hand by its only previous owner, modeled after The Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone, where he was a park ranger in his younger days. The house was a very popular bed and breakfast for many years. brbrStairs: You can access one bedroom, the kitchen and dining, two bathrooms, and a living area with no stairs, but there are multiple staircases to the other area of the house.brbrWe keep it stocked with spices and cooking oils. We have a full kitchen with appliances and cookware, dishes, and utensils. And a giant coffee percolator. We provide towels and linens.brbrThis mountain house is gorgeous...AND it requires operation and living intentionally. If the owners are not onsite, you will need to follow instructions on how to conserve power, run a generator, use a fireplace, and fill cistern water. It is at the end of a single lane private road which is winding and steep. The power is from solar, the water from a well, the sewer is septic. It has excellent 4G/LTE cell phone reception and fast, reliable internet. There will be NO landline phone. brbrMonitor the weather daily, bring appropriate gear for severe weather year-round. brbrYou may see wild animals near the house. You may see a mouse in the house. Also, you are renting a mountain cabin without maid service or a cook. In some months, mountain cabins will have flies. Period. If you want a pest-free vacation experience, you should NOT pick a rustic mountain cabin, and you should expect that authentic pests come with an authentic mountain cabin experience. Four wheel, all wheel, or front wheel drive required in ice, mud, or snow, and highly recommended year-round on our steep, private gravel road, and with our mercurial weather.brbrBut if these things don't deter you, you will adore this charming, creaky, gorgeous place, which is bordered on two sides by BLM land and has access to the entire Bighorn National Forest.
