Private Vacation Home

This house is a 3 bedroom(s), 1 bathrooms, located in Thermopolis, WY.

Thermopolis, Wyoming, United States

A place where the Indians, trappers and traders used to meet, this house is a converted office building less than a minutes walk from the Big Horn River. br Decorated with a unique western feel and plenty of bedrooms, your family will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally-located place. It has an enclosed private patio inside a large fence for privacy and a great dog area. It is perfect for grilling outdoors with a large awning, or just enjoying the outdoors in privacy.brbrWhile next to 2 restaurants, this house is off the beaten path with only small amounts of street traffic. It is less than a block to the river and an old bridge that crosses it. The bridge is now closed to car traffic. It is a block away from a gem and rock shop, and 2 blocks to a river float/kayaking shop, and only 3 blocks to a public river access area.brbrThe front and side of this converted office building has a nice living and recreation area, while the back of the building is a walled off shop and warehouse area.brbrThere is central air but we have added window A.C. units for the really hot times of the year. The patio may have some weeds or stickers in the dirt part, so I would not go barefoot there. There is a nice fire pit area for evenings with a covered awning nearby. There will occasionally be an odor from the wastewater treatment plant across the river, but it is usually brief and only a few hours once or twice a week. The river is only a few hundred yards from the house. The kitchen is small, but there is a food preparation area in the living room with a lot more room.brbrThis house is less than a minute walk to the river where an old bridge crosses the river. The bridge is closed to vehicle traffic. Two restaurants are also less than a minute away, and a tourist shop and a river floating/kayaking rental shop are only a few blocks away, with a public boat access only 5 blocks away. There has occasionally been an odor from the water treatment plant across the river, while it is not common, it can be noticeable.br The downtown area is only 8 blocks away. It is a quiet neighborhood with very little traffic once you are off of the highway. There is plenty of off street parking in front of the house. It has a nice fire pit in the fenced area.

Just steps away from the Big Horn River

Thermopolis, Wyoming, United States

Enjoy your stay in Thermopolis at this newer construction, 3 bedroom 2 bath home. The Big Horn river is one of the best fisheries in the state, and you have access to it right outside your doors. On any given morning it is the norm to see pheasants or deer walking by, along with many different species of waterfowl enjoying the waters of the river. Easy access to the town of Thermopolis, which offers a world class dinosaur museum, and two commercial swimming pools where you can enjoy the water from the natural mineral hot springs. Boysen reservoir is 30min away, while the scenic town of Cody, and Yellowstone Park are within a 2 hour drive. The Riverview Guesthouse is great if you are in town to fish, hunt, explore the local area, or for a base while making day trips. We do not have a TV with DVD player and HD antenna for local channels. Our intent with this guesthouse is to help people engage more with each other and their surroundings, while getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The location is ideal to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, and board games are provided if weather keeps you indoors. The trout fishing along this stretch of the river is very good with both public and private access to the river. This location allows nearly 6,000 feet of public fishing access along the river bank downstream from the house, and almost 2,000 feet of private river access upstream. We do have kayaks available on request, along with tour opportunities in Thermopolis and the surrounding area.

Please message with questions about access, activities & amenities.brOther things to notebrThis rustic, no-frills, off the grid, authentic working ranch is located 23 - 36 miles from the nearest towns on a well-maintained gravel road. For sky-watchers, our location is one of the darkest places in the USA for incredible stargazing! We may be difficult to find in the dark, so plan your daytime arrival accordingly. We are appropriate for a 1-2 night stay when passing through on the way to or from Yellowstone National Park, or for nearby sightseeing, but not as a base to see a wider geographic area. The facility is off the grid, meaning that we have solar powered electricity with beautiful scenery unmarred by electric or phone lines running into the ranch. Limited WIFI and WIFI calling are available at the Lodge only. No streaming or TV.
