Mountains higher than Yellowstone, wildlife that's really wild, exciting history, and no crowds! The Bighorn Region is a vacation destination for the discriminating visitor, and this rustic cabin on the eastern face of the Bighorns is filled with charm and located near Sheridan, Wyoming.

Owners occupy the basement apartment (onsite but separate and out of sight). Single group renters get main floor, upper floor and loft. Brand-new, huge, astounding deck and laundry room are shared space. Additional bedroom may be available upon request at additional charge, especially in June and October. Note: we will not accept rental requests longer than fourteen days.

Dogs and cats live on the owner level and unpenned outside. There are horses onsite. 2022 remodel/refresh throughout.

This is a rustic, quirky, charming 30-year old cabin on the face of a mountain, off the grid. Adventurous guests only! This cabin was built by hand by its only previous owner, modeled after The Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone, where he was a park ranger in his younger days. It runs propane heat with two wood burning stoves. The house was a very popular bed and breakfast for many years.

Stairs: You can access one bedroom, the kitchen and dining, two bathrooms, and a living area with no stairs, but there are multiple staircases to the other area of the house.

We keep it stocked with spices and cooking oils. We have a full kitchen with appliances and cookware, dishes, and utensils. And a giant coffee percolator. We provide towels and linens.

This mountain house is gorgeous...AND it requires operation and living intentionally. If the owners are not onsite, you will need to follow instructions on how to conserve power, run a generator, use a fireplace, and fill cistern water. It is at the end of a single lane private road which is winding and steep. The power is from solar, the water from a well, the sewer is septic. It has excellent 4G/LTE cell phone reception and fast, reliable internet. There will be NO landline phone.

Monitor the weather daily, bring appropriate gear for severe weather year-round.

You may see wild animals near the house. You may see a mouse in the house. Also, you are renting a mountain cabin without maid service or a cook. In some months, mountain cabins will have flies. Period. If you want a pest-free vacation experience, you should NOT pick a rustic mountain cabin, and you should expect that authentic pests come with an authentic mountain cabin experience. Four wheel, all wheel, or front wheel drive required in ice, mud, or snow, and highly recommended year-round on our steep, private gravel road, and with our mercurial weather.

But if these things don't deter you, you will adore this charming, creaky, gorgeous place, which is bordered on two sides by BLM land and has access to the entire Bighorn National Forest. It's on the eastern face of the mountains overlooking Sheridan and on into Montana to the north and Moncrief Ridge to the east.

Excellent facilities with plenty of room for our group of 10. Plenty of pots and pans, as well as a keurig and normal coffee maker. There was also basic supplies and spices. Great deck and gas fire pit.

This was an AMAZING cabin with a breath-taking view. Our kids squealed with delight as they ran around the cabin to check out the space. There are plenty of books and games to enjoy. Alexis the host was very responsive to any questions we had or help we needed. We would absolutely stay here again to enjoy the peace and quiet that Wyoming has to offer.

Pictures don’t do it justice, inside or out. The view is spectacular, and the furnishings are very nice in a unique log home. We were motorcycle touring, and it’s near to one of the main entrances to the mountain roads and trails. Likely we’ll stay again.

Despite the craziness of the nearby wild fires, we had a great stay and great experience. The cabin is beautiful, with beautiful views, and plenty of room for 2 couples, and 2 additional adults. It was a perfect mix of luxury and hunter’s resort for our group

Before you rent this house verify that the storage batteries have been replaced and are working properly. We had no power the last day we were there even though the generator was running constantly. Also verify that the logs have been resealed to prevent rain seeping through the walls in places. On the positive side, the deck and views are wonderful. The owner did give us credit for our last night’s stay. If you go in the summer, expect LOTS of flies.

We had a wonderful time at this property. Even though we had a few glitches with the solar electricity, Alexis was always available and on top of getting things fixed. I would definitely stsy here again. The house was beautiful and I could sit on that deck and enjoy that view forever ?
