Your home away from home, the Horse & Goat private self-catering unit is located at my house Riverbend which is on a one-acre block. I have a beautiful outlook in peaceful surrounds across the Werribee River Valley, yet just an easy 0.7 km walk from Ballan's main street with its cafes, vintage wares and op shops, and hotels.brbrBedding and towels are provided, plus tea, coffee and biscuits.brbr Ask me about the Kids Special - book for two or more nights, up to two kids (up to 12 years old) are free! brbrYou have your own car parking space and private entrance with a little deck. You are welcome to explore the property, talk to the chooks and the four-legged friend, play boules if you are so inclined, and have cups of tea or drinks on the charming secret deck alongside the Werribee River (up here it is but a small creek most of the time!).brbrBallan has a rich local history and is also just a hop step and a jump from Daylesford, Trentham, Blackwood, Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh and Steiglitz, each of these towns being within an easy 30 to 45 minute drive. There are close excellent bushwalking trails in the Werribee and Lerderderg Gorges and the Brisbane Ranges, all of which give visitors a close-up view of dramatic landscapes and the Australian fauna and flora.brbrThe Ballan Horse & Goat is equipped for you to prepare your own meals in a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle and small frig, or you can give yourself a holiday and choose from a range of Ballan's eateries - a pub, several coffee shops, a great bakery (try the Turkish rolls!), Shezzas Diner and a pizza place. There is an excellent IGA Supermarket here as well, and they sell a wide variety of cooked foods such as roast chickens, lasagne, and pies, and also many delicatessen items and salads.brbrIf you do not have a car, you can reach us simply and quickly by train from Southern Cross station, Melbourne (just over one hour), and we can meet you at the station by arrangement at no extra cost. With Ballan as your base, you can readily make great rail day trips to explore Ararat, Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh and Melbourne.brbrIf you are visiting from overseas, there is an efficient bus service to take you to Ballan from the airport (we can meet the bus for no charge) and from Ballan back to the airport when you leave. There is also NBN wifi :) yay!brThere are 4 bedrooms (1 with in-built laptop desk) and a sparkling shared family bathroom with shower and large bath. There are plush towels for your bathing enjoyment.brThe master suite and second bedroom are at the opposite end of the house to the other bedrooms. They share an ensuite.brThe house sleeps up to 8, in 7 beds. Phoenix Park Ballan is like a funky school camp for adults or families. With 14 rooms consisting of 6 queen bed rooms, 3 twin single bed rooms and 5 bunk rooms, we comfortably sleep up to 60 people. We also have a main hall/lounge area and a large communal kitchen complete with a commercial sized pizza oven - great for holding a group gathering. With an additional games/ band / theatre room and lots of space for outdoor activities get your friends or family or club together for a weekend that won't break the bank. Check out our website to see the retro styled hall and the refurbished rooms. br brWe do have a 2night minimum stay with a 25 guest minimum per night. brbrAn easy 50 minutes from Melbourne, we are under 20 minutes drive to Daylesford and Ballarat, which means there are lots of day activities within a short drive. br brGiven our facilities are on an old caravan park, we also have powered sites for vans and loads of camping area. No permanent residents live on the grounds, so group bookings cover the whole property. Lots of room for kids to safely ride their bikes around. brbrWe have 3 Eco houses on site that can be booked according to availability.
