Hartnett's Bluff House sits above a private rocky beach, close to the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. The house was built from 2007-2010 by the owners. It is a cedar-shingled post and beam home that boasts an open concept layout. The main floor is open space flooded with views of the ocean from every angle. It contains a well-appointed kitchen with granite and butcher-block countertops and stainless steel appliances. There is a beautiful dining area with a large granite table that seats 6, and a living area with a comfy sofa and chairs perfect for lounging with friends and family, and gazing out at the ocean sunset. The main floor is complete with a powder room and a playing space for games and toys. brbrThe upper floor reveals a gorgeous master suite with a heavenly king-size bed overlooking the water. A peaceful on-suite bathroom is complete with double sinks and a classic antique claw foot tub. There is also a cozy sitting area with comfortable chairs, ottomans, and reading lamps perfect for curling up with a book at the end of the day. A separate room with door off of the master has two twin beds that can be joined to create a king-sized bed, and makes a great kids room. brbrThe lower of the three floors contains a third bedroom with a queen-size bed and ocean views. The third bathroom is complete with a large open tiled shower, double sinks, and more windows looking out onto acres of rosa rugosa. Guests will also find a bonus entertainment room with a flat-screen TV and a sofa. There is also a laundry room with a washer and dryer for guest’s convenience. Doors lead out onto a large deck complete with lounge chairs, a BBQ, a solar heated outdoor shower, and hammock, perfect for cooling off and relaxing after a long day at the beach! brbrAdjacent to the house is the path down to the private rocky beach, an excellent place to surf-cast and catch striped bass and bluefish, hunting for driftwood, shells and beautiful beach stones. Later in the season, this serves as a popular surf spot on the island, and provides a great spot to watch the surfers brave the waves!brbrThe property is located on the southwest corner of Block Island at the end of a rather long dirt road. The road is usually kept in good condition, which should allow easy access by any car. Since the house is located about 3 miles from town and the swimming beaches, a car is recommended. Please read the full description:brbrThe Barn is an idyllic, peaceful escape from the summertime crowds in town. Located on the bluffs above Long Island Sound, it has a spectacular view of passing boats and sunsets from the large windows on the west side, and sweeping views of the Audubon property from the open hayloft doors on the east An outside stairway leads to the upper floor of the Barn, one large space with a king-size bed built up for views to the west and a queen-size bed at the other end. The bathroom with shower is a separate room with a window above the sink overlooking rolling fields and the sunrise. The kitchen area has granite counters and two sinks and is furnished with a small fridge, an electric two-burner cooker, coffee machine, toaster oven, etc. The ground floor of the Barn is used as a studio/sculpture gallery and as storage for vehicles in the winter… not used when guests are in residence. brThe separate driveway to the Barn passes the owner's large vegetable and flower garden. There is a picnic table and charcoal grill, hammock and Adirondack chairs for relaxing in the sun. The property has a private path to the rocky beach, excellent for surf-casting, beach combing and picnics. Swimming is not recommended because of the difficulty in getting in and out of the water over the stones.brSuitable for a couple or a small family, the Barn at Schooner Point is romantic. A car is strongly recommended because it is at the end of a long dirt road, about 3 miles from the ferry, restaurants and swimming beaches.brbrThe barn is not winterized so strong winds from the west and east can make it drafty inside. There is a vented kerosene heater which works well to heat the space. It is possible to be comfortable in the barn in November and December if it is not too windy or bitterly cold.

The bedrooms include 1 queen size bed, and 2 bunkrooms both with full and twin size bunks.brOutside we have an amazing enclosed outside shower with hot and cold water. The two large wrap around decks are great for entertaining, grilling, and relaxing either in the bright sunshine up stairs or cool shade on the lower level. We Do Not supply bed linens or towels. We do have pillows and quilts in all bedrooms. We have a 7 night minimum in July and August - Sunday thru Sunday and a 3 night minimum in the Off Season. Owners have a 2nd home on this 2.5 acre property. The owners are sometime are there on the weekends to prepare and maintain the property for your stay. They do not rent this property to anyone.
