Description

Island House sits on 4.5 completely private Block Island acres. Built in 2020 and designed by an award winning architect, the sleek and contemporary structure compliments the natural environment. As you enter the house, you are greeted with modern minimalism that is, at the same time, warm and inviting. The open floor plan brings sunlight into each room through floor to ceiling windows, with the views of Island and Ocean continuing on the surrounding porches and decks.

The main floor encompasses a great room for dining, cooking and living, as well as an alcove study with a built-in work desk, mudroom with cubbies, and a half bath. The chef’s kitchen includes high-end appliances with Sub-Zero fridges, Wolf oven and cooktop, Bosch dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, as well as a Weber gas grill outside. The dining room table comfortably seats eight, and the kitchen island includes four more counter stools.

The second floor includes three bedrooms. The master suite has a king size bed, an ensuite with a rain shower and curbless entry, and a wrap around balcony with 180 degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island Sound. Another bedroom has a queen size bed and west-facing and north-facing floor to ceiling windows. The third bedroom consists of a queen over a queen bunk bed and a twin over a twin bunk bed made to support adults or children, and a north-facing floor to ceiling window. A full bath with tub/shower combination sits at the end of the hallway.

The lower level has an LG washer/dryer set, and a queen size bed for extra space for flexible sleeping arrangements. The house includes two zone central AC and forced hot air, YouTube TV and strong wifi for working, learning or playing from home.

There is a large outdoor rain shower off the east deck. On the west deck there is a dining table underneath a pergola that can seat eight and comfortable outdoor furniture for relaxing on those lazy summer days (Spring and Summer only). Ample space on the outside lawns for games and family fun including a pond for skating or fishing or kayaking. Large outdoor fire pit for those cool summer nights.

No fires in the indoor wood-burning stove.

Beautiful and immaculate house in a gorgeous property. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable living room and cozy bedrooms. Would definitely stay here again. Host was extremely helpful when we had questions about the house and flexible with check out. Amazing stay!

Lovely home on a secluded spot with nature all around. Well stocked, clean, bright, and stylish. Beds are comfortable, living spaces open and inviting. Great communication with host before arrival and he was accessible if we needed anything while there. Definitely recommend.

A beautiful property that offers privacy, striking design and beautiful vistas of the island and ocean. The sunrise and sundown views are spectacular and enjoyed from everywhere in the house. Did not see another property on Block Island comparable to this one. Matthew is a true host and excels at easy communication and accommodating his guests requests. We look forward to our return!

Island House is fabulous! The home is beautiful, comfortable and well appointed. The setting is lovely with beautiful views and lots of outdoor space to sit and relax. Communication with the owner was easy and he was very responsive...both ahead of the stay and during the stay. I would not hesitate to rent this home again and will recommend it to friends who are looking for a place on Block Island.

If VRBO would allow me to give more than 5 stars, I would do it! Modern, clean, brilliantly architectured home, with first class treatments throughout. Home sits high on a hill, providing privacy and a peaceful island setting. Inside, all state-of-the-art designed amenities - the kitchen has high end appliances - perfect for cooking great meals; bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the views from the floor to ceiling windows are picturesque. My family spent Columbus Day weekend hiking nearby trails, bike riding to nearby beaches, catching glorious sunsets, and then coming back to the Island House to cook on the new Weber grill and enjoy the outdoor deck furniture. The host is gracious and responsive. We've stayed at many homes on the Block over the years - this house, is by far, the finest! Congratulations to the hosts - you've designed the perfect Block Island home!
