“Twin Pines” is a perfect destination for vacationers who seek beautiful northwoods surroundings to “get away from it all” any time of year. Winter activities include snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snow-shoeing or just relaxing in the quiet, majestic pines. Spring and summer activities include fishing at nearby lakes or rivers, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, riding ATV, golfing at nearby golf courses in Bigfork or Deer River, or just enjoying a beverage around the fire or on the deck. brbrFor your convenience, there is a lockbox on the entry door on the back deck. We will provide you with a temporary code shortly before your stay which we will send via text. brbrThe house is clean, newly remodeled, and nestled in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest. It is built on the site of a “turn of the century logging camp” (Camp Five). The property is on a gravel road – just 1 ½ miles off a paved road, Hwy 14, and just two miles from the Bigfork River. There are thousands of acres of adjoining state and federal land with countless trails and very few neighbors. The circle driveway makes it easy for people to load and unload snowmobiles or ATVs. We are pet-friendly with a limit of two well-behaved dogs for a small fee. brbrThe house sleeps from 4 to 12 people. On the main floor there is a kitchen (complete with all the necessary utensils and dinnerware), dining/family room, large master bedroom with a queen-size bed, small bedroom with double bed, and a three-season porch with a “trundle” bed that sleeps two. There are also two bathrooms on the main floor – one with a bathtub, and one with a shower. Our home also includes a large open upstairs space with two double beds and three twin beds, and plenty of storage space downstairs to store any extra items, air-dry wet clothes from a day out snowmobiling, etc. brbrTwin pines is fully furnished with all the necessities you will need to enjoy your northwoods vacation including a full kitchen set, outdoor grill, flat screen tv and dvd player, dvd’s, board games, Air Hockey Table, and a large book collection. There is also a campfire pit out back for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. brbrThe house is available for rent by the weekend or weekly from December to August, and during a few select weeks or weekends from September through November. The cabin features three levels, including a recently remodeled lower level. Ideal for families and groups alike!brbrMAIN LEVEL: Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and a tall A-frame ceiling, the living room area is bright and inviting. Relax on the recliner, couch, or futon and enjoy looking out at the yard and lake. Sliding glass doors open up to a long and spacious deck - great for enjoying that morning cup of coffee. There is a small dining table that seats four and a built-in buffet area with storage below. You’ll find a full kitchen stocked with all the essentials you’ll need, including common appliances, linens, utensils, dishes, cookware, baking supplies, coffee (regular and decaf) and more. All you need to bring is food and beverages! Just off the kitchen is an enclosed dining room with additional seating and another set of sliding glass doors opening up to the deck. brbrYou’ll also find a bedroom and full bath conveniently on the main level as well. The living room area features a spacious sectional and 50” smart TV; a coffee bar with mini fridge, sink, coffee maker, and cupboards for storage; and a door leading to the backyard. It’s the ultimate hangout spot! brbrAlso in the lower level, you’ll find two updated bedrooms - one with a convenient walkout to the back yard. The full bathroom was also recently remodeled and includes a seated shower. brbrYARD: The yard features plenty of space for outdoor games and playing. Bring your favorite yard games! Select yard games and toys are also provided. There is a large fire pit area near the lakeside with a fully stocked wood pile. Bring your s’mores fixings! Campfires are always allowed as long as there are no burning bans in place. A barbecue grill is also provided.brbrLAKESIDE: Enjoy beautiful White Swan Lake, just steps from the cabin! The property includes about 100 feet of lakeshore, with a sandy play area for the kids and a 60 foot dock to sit and enjoy the view. The beach is ideal for swimming! (Please note: There is a grassy area separating the sandy beach play area and the water, which we are in the process of working with the county to excavate and alter.) brbrThere are no motorized boats included or available for rent at the Getaway. Guests are welcome to bring their own watercraft, which can be launched right from the property via the gradual boat ramp area at the beach. We also provide unlimited use of our two kayaks, a two-person canoe, and a paddleboat.brbrPETS: Dogs are allowed, max two. There is an extra pet fee of $50 per stay, regardless if there are one or two dogs. This is done via a separate invoice and transaction after booking. Please indicate if you plan to bring a dog or two during your reservation request. For your convenience, we provide feeding dishes and poo bags. Please clean up after your pet! To tether your pet while outside, there is a long cable line attached to a tree on the side of the yard near the grey shed.brbrOUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: The Getaway is ideal for all of your outdoor recreational activities!brFishing: White Swan Lake is approximately 170 acres and spring-fed. It is not a deep lake - max depth is 20 feet - but it is quiet and peaceful. According to the MN DNR, White Swan is home to northern pike, perch, walleye, large and small mouth bass, rock bass, crappies, and panfish like bluegill and sunfish. Kids will love fishing off the dock!brbrHunting: We do not allow hunting on the property itself. The use of guns of any kind, including but not limited to BB guns, bow and arrows, sling shots, cross bows, etc. are strictly prohibited. However, the Getaway is the ideal home base for hunting groups as there are thousands of acres of public government land all over the area for hunting.brbrSnowmobiling/ATV: If you’re a snowmobile or ATV enthusiast, you’re going to love the Getaway! In the winter, enjoy hundreds of miles of Itasca County snowmobile trails nearby. The local Swampsiders Snowmobile Club is located just three miles down the road as well.brbrEnjoy the north woods: Soak in the nature surrounding you and at night, look up to see tons of stars in the sky!brbrGuest accessbrGuests will have access to the entire cabin and exterior yard area. brSearching for a peaceful escape in the north woods, a fun family getaway, or a home base for all of your outdoor recreational activities The Hideaway on Wasson Lake is what you’re looking for! Nestled on 25 acres of forest land with 600 feet of lakeshore, this cabin is a cozy retreat any time of the year. Ideal for families, couples, honeymooners, girls/guys weekends, fishing/hunting groups, snowmobilers, a comfortable stay for events or tournaments, and more!brbrThe spacebrWell-maintained, beautiful, and clean cabin features knotty pine interior throughout, rustic and charming decor, a layout that’s perfect for families or groups, and all the amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.brbrMAIN LEVEL: Step through the front door into a cozy living room with plenty of seating, 32” smart tv, and a wood burning stove. You’ll also find a full kitchen, stocked with everything you need to cook or bake during your stay, including linens, utensils, dishes, cookware, and more. The dining table comfortably seats six, and there is also a high chair and booster seat available. Just off the dining area are two sets of double doors that open to a fully screened-in porch with additional seating for four. It’s a great space for enjoying meals, playing games, or simply relaxing!brbrWalk down the hallway just past the kitchen and you’ll find three bedrooms and two full baths. Each bedroom comfortably sleeps two people, and all linens and pillows are provided. (Additional sleeping space can be found downstairs.) There is also a Graco brand pack-n-play portable crib available for a small child, as well as an extra set of sheets for all beds. Plenty of space for families and groups!brbrLOWER LEVEL: Downstairs you’ll find another living room with a smart tv, double-size futon couch (sleeps two), a dining or gaming table, and another full bathroom. A single-size rollaway and futon chair is also available. There is a laundry and storage room with a washer, dryer, and plenty of storage space for outdoor gear and clothing. A pair of double doors opens to an outdoor patio and spacious backyard.brbrYARD: Backyard features plenty of space to enjoy year-round! Bring your gear or use the gear we have available (snowshoes, sleds, yard games, etc.). The property features 25 acres of woods and trails to explore. We are currently in the process of building a trail system - feel free to walk and explore the trails that have been created so far! brbrA fire pit area with plenty of firewood is also available just beyond the lower patio. Campfires are allowed as long as there are no burning bans in place. Don’t forget to bring the fixings for s’mores!brbrThere is space for parking a couple of vehicles in front of the cabin; however, there is an additional large parking area up the driveway that can accommodate trailers and extra vehicles, if needed.brbrBAR-B-QUE GRILLS: We’ve got you covered with one propane gas grill and a charcoal grill located on the lower level patio, and another small charcoal grill near the lakeside/dock area. A propane tank is provided, as well as a backup tank. Guests are responsible for their own charcoal and lighter fluid - there may be some leftovers from previous guests, but that is not a guarantee.brbrLAKESIDE: Ready to enjoy the water Walk a few hundred feet from the cabin down the path to discover 600 feet of lakeside shore on beautiful Wasson Lake. Near the dock you’ll find a screened-in gazebo with electricity, table and seating for six, life jackets, and fish cleaning table. It’s a great lakeside hangout! brbrThe lakeshore at the dock is about 2-3 feet deep and is firm enough and mostly clear of weeds and lily pads. However, it is not sand, so although people can and do swim or wade in the water, it is not ideal as your feet do sink into the bottom a few inches. A better swimming alternative is from the optional pontoon boat rental - see info below.brbrIncluded with the rental is unlimited use of a 14’ Lund fishing boat with Honda 9HP motor (includes one full tank of gas), a 17’ Grumman aluminum canoe, and a two-person paddle boat. Wasson Lake does not have a public access and there is no access point on the property for boat launch - so guests will not be able to launch and use their own boats.brbrWe provide one infant, two child, two youth, and eight adult (various sizes) lifejackets, but please feel free to bring your own.brbrOPTIONAL PONTOON RENTAL: Guests have the option of renting our 2022 Godfrey pontoon boat with 40HP 4-stroke motor. With plenty of seating, it’s the best way to get out and enjoy Wasson Lake to the fullest! If interested, pontoon rental is done separately via email and Square. Please inquire about pricing and other information.brbrPETS: Dogs are allowed, max two. There is an extra pet fee of $50 per stay, regardless if there are one or two dogs. This is done via a separate invoice and transaction after booking. Please indicate if you plan to bring a dog or two during your reservation request. For your convenience, we provide feeding dishes, scooper, and poo bags. Please clean up after your pet!brbrOUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: The Hideaway is perfect for all of your outdoor recreational activities! brbr Fishing: Wasson Lake is approximately 500 acres and spring-fed. Per the MN DNR it has 17 feet of clarity with a max depth of 67 feet. With four islands and numerous bays, it’s ideal for fish, including northern pike, perch, large and small mouth bass, rock bass, crappies, and panfish like bluegill and sunfish. In the winter, bring your ice house and gear and enjoy time out on the frozen lake.brbr Hunting: We do not allow hunting on the property itself. The use of guns of any kind, including but not limited to BB guns, bow and arrows, sling shots, cross bows, etc. are strictly prohibited. However, the Hideaway is the ideal home base for hunting groups as there are thousands of acres of public government land all over the area for hunting.brbr Snowmobiling/ATV: If you’re a snowmobile or ATV enthusiast, you’re going to love the Hideaway! In the winter, enjoy hundreds of miles of Itasca County snowmobile trails, including an extension to the nearby groomed Herb Brandstrom Trail that starts just a few hundred feet from the driveway. The local Swampsiders Snowmobile Club is located just three miles down the road as well. There is a large parking area off the main cabin driveway that can accommodate trailers.brbr Snowshoeing: Bring your snowshoes - or use the pairs provided - and explore the property, frozen lake, and more! brbr Explore the north woods: If you’re looking for a quiet and peaceful escape, look no further! The previous owners underwent a forest stewardship project by selectively harvesting overgrown poplar, birch, and aspen trees while planting over 4000 new red pine, white pine, and various hardwood trees. Already the pine trees have grown to four to six feet tall, and within a few short years, a new forest will emerge.The property is bordered by the lake to the east, another cabin to the south, and quiet roads to the west and north. We invite you to take a walk in the woods or down the driveway and roads to take in all the beauty and tranquility our area has to offer. On a clear night, look up to see tons of stars, too!brbrGuest accessbrGuests will have access to the entire property during their stay, including the whole cabin, yard, lakeside area, and 25 acres of woods and trails. brbrWe communicate directions and access information, including lock box code, a day or two in advance of guests' arrival date.brbrNO exploding fireworks or firearms, including but not limited to, BB guns, bow and arrows, crossbows, slingshots, etc. are allowed on the property.brbrOther things to notebrIncluded in the rental rate is a 3% lodging tax paid to the non-profit organization Visit Grand Rapids whose mission is to promote the Itasca County/Grand Rapids area as a destination for conferences, conventions, events, group tours and leisure travelers, thereby enhancing the economic growth of the area through travel and tourism. We (the owners) support what this organization does for northern Minnesota and the Itasca County area and thus have chosen to pay this voluntary tax out of pocket from rentals received.
