Outstanding large house with fabulous sea views and parking

Saint Ives, England, United Kingdom

Merryn is an exceptional house in a fabulous location on a very quiet street just a few minutes walk from the stunning surfing beach of Porthmeor. Throw in plenty of parking, fabulous sea views and enclosed courtyard garden and you have the perfect house for a luxurious stay in St Ives.brbrThis stunning house is located on Carthew Terrace, a small lane of granite houses tucked away off the beaten track yet just a short trek down the hill to St Ives’ town centre, harbour and sandy beaches.brbrArranged over three floors, the house has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a snug living room and, perhaps best of all, a lovely, light and spacious kitchen dining room. The house has been fully refurbished yet retains many tasteful period features, whilst the quality furnishings have the perfect balance of classic and contemporary. Outside you will find an enclosed courtyard with outdoor sofas and dining table together with a large gas bbq, the perfect spot for dining al-fresco. The sea views from the first and second floors are truly spectacular.brbrThose familiar with St Ives will appreciate the private parking across the lane to the front and space for two cars to the rear. There is even space to park on the lane to the front for an additional car.brbrThe kitchen is extremely well-equipped with dishwasher, microwave, 5-ring cooker, large American style fridge freezer and Nespresso coffee machine, with an initial supply of Cornish coffee pods also included. The separate utility room has additional facilities with washer drier, ironing board and iron.brbrThe front bedrooms are light and spacious and offer those aforementioned spectacular views over Porthmeor beach and beyond to ‘The Island’, St Ives’ famous landmark headland that overlooks the old fishing quarter known as Downalong. In these bedrooms the beds are large (king and super-king) with top quality deep mattresses ensuring you a restful nights sleep after a busy day on the beach! The other two bedrooms offer the same level of quality and comfort with beds on a smaller scale (double and 2 x singles).brbrThere are three bathrooms, one on each level… shower room on the ground floor, family bathroom for the first floor and en-suite shower room at the top.brbrMerryn is not only the perfect property for the summer months as under-floor heating keeps things nice and cosy on the ground floor with radiators on the upper floors and heated towel rails in all the bathrooms.brbrWhether your preference is for contemporary or Victorian you will love your stay at Merryn. This stunning house really does tick all the boxes for the ultimate luxury holiday house in St Ives. brbrA well behaved dog is welcome at Merryn with dog treats on arrival!br

Famous Artist's Residence Near to St Ives Harbour

Saint Ives, England, United Kingdom

First a sail loft and then home to a renowned St Ives artist, Ponckle's Place is embedded with history and is now a carefully updated holiday retreat in the heart of the old town. brbrYou'll be able to smell the sea from your balcony it's that close. Watch the boats bobbing in the harbour from the modern kitchen or snuggle up on the sofa by the wood burner, you'll be enchanted by the character of Ponckle's in no time at all.brbrOne of our favourite things about Ponckle's Place is the timeless feel.brbrThe high ceilings, exposed beams, wood floors and quirky original artwork throughout add to the charm. Tucked away off Back Road East, restaurants, shops and galleries are all within easy reach yet you remain away from the main streets. brbrIt has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master ensuite bedroom has a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom with large bath, toilet and basin. The second bedroom is a twin and from the hallway you can access a shower room with toilet and basin. brbrThe open plan living space is full of light. The wood burner will keep you cosy (and we ll provide you with a starter kit), the sofas are deep and comfortable and the artwork adorning the walls will capture your imagination. brbrThe dining space is next to the balcony and has beautiful views over rooftops towards Porthminster point. It's a great place to watch the sailing club on Wednesdays and Saturdays or catch the fishermen heading back with their catch. brbrThe kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, washer/dryer and lots of cooking utensils and also enjoys lovely views. brbrTo enter Ponckle's you enter up a path accessed via a large blue wooden door off Back Road East.brbrAll of itbrbrWe live locally and know the area really well. We're here to make sure you have a great time, whether it's surf tips or places to eat, your welcome to ask us for help and advice. brbrWe use a self service check-in to give you flexibility when arriving, we might swing by to check everything is ok during your stay but we like to respect your privacy to.brbrYou'll have our mobile number and email contacts if you need us. We're a friendly team and are easy to contact (despite what the one poor review says it's just not true!).brbrSt Ives is a really special town. With a mixed history, it's an ancient fishing port that has developed into an artistic escape for many and is now one of the UK's best know holiday towns. brbrYou'll find golden sand beaches with crystal clear waters, surfers love Porthmeor and there are at least 3 other beaches in a 15-20 minute walk from your front door. brbrTate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Museum and Gardens are well worth a wander, both are in walking distance to. brbrThe food scene is excellent and you can expect more than just standard grub. From family friendly to the likes of Porthminster Beach Cafe which serve excellent food in a laid back beach side environment.brbrPonckle's Place is near to St Ives train and bus stations (10-15 minute walks). We find many of our guests don't use their car during their stay as St Ives has lots to do, if this might be you, do consider the train. brbrEverything in town is in walking distance. brbrThere are some good local bus routes and we highly recommend exploring the renowned South West Coast Path.brbrTo access Ponckle's Place you'll need to head through a large wooden door and through a shared undercover courtyard before leading up the private path to the front door. brbrSt Ives is a seaside town and wildlife thankfully still plays a major role in the town. Don't be surprised if you hear seagulls or other birds, they can be quite lively at different times of year. brbrWe'd recommend using The Island Car Park is travelling by car. brbrPonckle's is dog friendly but we request £35 extra per dog per stay. We also ask that any dog is up to date with vaccinations, flea treatments and worming. They must never be left on their own in the property and mustn't go on the furniture. We also don't allow dogs in summer. Feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions on this.

For any art enthusiast, they’ll be well aware of the legacy that St Ives has made on the art world, with its numerous art galleries including the famous Tate St Ives, Barbara Hepworth Museum and Bernard Leach Pottery. It’s increasingly become a popular destination to travel to and it’s not hard to see why people fall in love with it and come back year after year. brbrA quaint town surrounded by beaches with sand so golden and sea so blue it could be mistaken for the Caribbean. The beaches have become a favourite for many of the local surfers and the surf schools at Porthmeor offer the opportunity for you to try it out for yourself. Or heading to the harbour you can hop on a boat and take a trip out to see the seals. A town where you will want for nothing and everything is so close. brbrPorthminster Beach is an award-winning beach and boasts a fabulous restaurant just minutes away. Lots and lots of places to eat in St Ives!brbrTrowan is a rural destination. The nearest bus stop is a good mile away. brBest to arrive here by car or by bike has been known to. brbrTrowan Lane is quite narrow and has some grass growing up the middle of the lane, usually lower in summer.brbrThe property is on a private drainage system and restrictions on what goes down the drains apply. brbrThe rural location of Trowan means the water is serviced privately via a borehole to the hamlet. In rare instances the supply can be disrupted, a maintenance contract is in place to rectify issues as soon possible.
