Beulah is not just for this year’s staycation, but you will want to return year after year after year.brbrFrom the entrance, step down passed the utility room with a washing machine and bathroom situated next to the light and airy open-plan kitchen/diner. The very well-equipped kitchen has a Neff gas hob, double oven, dishwasher and if you enjoy a coffee, there is a French press and filter coffee maker. The kitchen is open to the large farmhouse kitchen table under the skylit roof. A great place to enjoy family meals and play games.brbrThrough to the contemporary living space with oak floors and underfloor heating throughout, and the large comfy l-shaped sofa has plenty of room for all the family to enjoy a film or just the heat from the log burner during those cooler evenings. brbrThere is a Sonos sound system and smart tv with Netflix and Prime subscriptions.brbrFrom the living room, go through the external door out to the lawned garden, and al fresco dining area with incredible views of the sea to the front and fields complete with livestock to the left for a real taste of Devon.brbrFrom the open tread stairs, go up to the split-level landing and the spacious king-size master bedroom has stunning sea views over the bay. There is a drop off point by the steps and free parking in the village or on the road side.brbrFrom the host:brbrBeulah was derelict when we bought it, so needed extensive renovation. We tried to keep as many of the old features as possible and reuse materials such as doors and cupboards wherever we could. brWe wanted to be as sustainable as possible, so installed solar panels and electric heating throughout and the most efficient LED lighting all using 100% green electricity when the solar panels are not providing enough. The house is effectively zero-emission apart from the gas hob. We installed insulation on all external walls and ceilings and under the floor, alongside high-efficiency double-glazing wherever we replaced any glass. We also tried to use natural materials wherever possible, and greener paint. We’ve used inherited, vintage and restored furniture, mostly mid-century modern, apart from new beds, sofa and soft furnishings (for obvious reasons). The garden was well-stocked from previous owners and we’ve tried to keep an informal cottage-garden feel.brTHE GOOD HOUSEKEEPING BONDbrAs per our listing details, we operate using a Good Housekeeping Bond and whilst we do not take a physical deposit, we have up to 14 days after departure to charge for any additional cleaning or damages caused during your stay and not reported. This is a wonderful hidden gem of trees plants and a terrace around a slate-roofed conservatory. It's a delightful outdoor space and faces southwest, making the most of the sunshine.brbrThe garden is accessed down steep steps opposite the house, so care is needed and it is without electricity so can only be used in daylight hours.brbrWe love this secret garden and hope you will spend very many happy times there amongst the plants and trees cultivated and cared for by our gardener who may attend to conduct maintenance at some time during your stay. The barbecue is for your use, but we ask everybody to leave it clean for the next guests.brbrWe hope you will enjoy the secret garden and enhance your stay in this special house at 16 Clarence Hill.brbrbrParking:brbrOpposite the front door, there is a private parking space suitable for a medium/ large SUV.
